What Is Filet Mignon?

Filet mignon comes from the beef tenderloin and is considered one of the most tender cuts of steak available. Because it contains less marbling than cuts like ribeye, it’s prized for its buttery texture rather than intense beef flavor. Many steakhouses serve filet mignon with compound butter or rich sauces to enhance the flavor.

Its naturally tender texture makes it ideal for air frying since the quick cooking process helps preserve moisture without overcooking the meat.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Filet Mignon Steaks

Choose steaks that are approximately 1½ to 2 inches thick for the best results.

Olive Oil

Helps the seasonings stick and promotes browning.

Kosher Salt

Enhances the beef’s natural flavor.

Black Pepper

Adds a classic steakhouse seasoning.

Garlic Butter (Optional)

A finishing touch that melts over the steak, adding incredible flavor.

How To Choose The Best Filet Mignon

When shopping for filet mignon, look for:

  • Bright red color
  • Even thickness
  • Moderate marbling
  • USDA Choice or Prime grade when possible
  • Steaks that are 1 to 2 inches thick

Thicker steaks cook more evenly and are less likely to overcook in the air fryer.

How Long To Cook Filet Mignon In The Air Fryer

The exact cooking time varies based on steak thickness and air fryer model.

DonenessInternal TemperatureApproximate Cook Time
Rare125°F8-10 minutes
Medium Rare130-135°F10-12 minutes
Medium140-145°F12-14 minutes
Medium Well150-155°F14-16 minutes

Always use an instant-read thermometer for the most accurate results.

Pro Tips For Perfect Air Fryer Filet Mignon

Bring Steak To Room Temperature

Let the steak sit on the counter for about 30 minutes before cooking.

Pat Dry Before Seasoning

Removing excess moisture helps create a better crust.

Don’t Skip The Resting Time

Allow the steak to rest for 5-10 minutes after cooking so the juices redistribute throughout the meat. Resting improves texture and juiciness.

Use A Meat Thermometer

The quickest way to ruin an expensive filet is to guess its doneness.

Add Compound Butter

Garlic herb butter, blue cheese butter, or rosemary butter all pair beautifully with filet mignon.

Common Questions

Do I Need To Flip Filet Mignon In The Air Fryer?

Yes. Flipping halfway through cooking helps ensure even browning and cooking on both sides.

Can I Cook Frozen Filet Mignon In The Air Fryer?

Yes, but cooking times will increase significantly. For the best texture and most even results, thaw the steak before cooking.

Should I Preheat My Air Fryer?

Most air fryer steak recipes recommend preheating for more consistent cooking and browning.

What Temperature Should Filet Mignon Be Cooked To?

For the best texture, medium-rare (130°F–135°F after resting) is the most popular doneness level for filet mignon.

More Air Fryer Recipes

Steak Doneness Temperature Guide

One of the most important tools for cooking filet mignon is a reliable meat thermometer. Since filet mignon is a premium cut of beef, you’ll want to avoid overcooking it. Remember that the steak’s temperature will continue to rise 5-10 degrees as it rests after cooking.

DonenessRemove From Air FryerFinal Resting Temperature
Rare120-125°F125-130°F
Medium Rare125-130°F130-135°F
Medium135-140°F140-145°F
Medium Well145-150°F150-155°F
Well Done155-160°F160°F+

My recommendation for filet mignon? Medium-rare delivers the most tender, juicy texture while allowing the natural flavor of the beef to shine.

Why Resting Matters

After cooking, place the steaks on a plate and loosely tent with foil for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat instead of running out when sliced. Skipping the resting period can result in a drier steak.

Compound Butter Variations

A simple compound butter can take your air fryer filet mignon from great to steakhouse-worthy. Simply mix softened butter with your favorite ingredients and spoon it over the hot steak right before serving.

Garlic Herb Butter

A classic pairing for filet mignon.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • Pinch of salt

Blue Cheese Butter

Perfect if you love bold steakhouse flavors.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 2 tablespoons crumbled blue cheese
  • 1 teaspoon chives
  • Dash of black pepper

Garlic Parmesan Butter

Rich, savory, and family-friendly.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon parsley

Cajun Butter

For a little heat and smoky flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon juice

Rosemary Shallot Butter

An elegant option for special occasions.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon finely minced shallot
  • Pinch of kosher salt

Make Ahead Tip: Compound butter can be made up to 5 days in advance. Roll it into a log using plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to use.

Air Fryer Steak Troubleshooting Guide

Even simple recipes can occasionally need a few adjustments. Here are solutions to the most common air fryer steak issues.

My Steak Is Tough

Possible causes:

  • Overcooked steak
  • Steak wasn’t rested after cooking
  • Lower-quality cut of beef

Fix: Use a meat thermometer and remove the steak before it reaches your desired final temperature.

My Steak Is Dry

Possible causes:

  • Cooked too long
  • Steak was too thin
  • Not enough resting time

Fix: Choose filet mignon that is at least 1½ inches thick and always rest before slicing.

The Outside Isn’t Browning

Possible causes:

  • Air fryer wasn’t preheated
  • Too much moisture on steak
  • Basket overcrowded

Fix: Pat the steak completely dry with paper towels and preheat the air fryer before cooking.

The Steak Cooked Unevenly

Possible causes:

  • Uneven steak thickness
  • Didn’t flip halfway through cooking
  • Air fryer hot spots

Fix: Select steaks that are similar in size and thickness and flip them halfway through the cook time.

Smoke Is Coming From My Air Fryer

Possible causes:

  • Excess grease dripping
  • Oil splattering onto heating element

Fix: Add a tablespoon or two of water to the bottom drip tray (if your model allows) and trim excess fat before cooking.

My Steak Is Undercooked

Don’t panic. Simply return it to the air fryer for 1-2 minute intervals until the desired temperature is reached.

My Steak Is Overcooked

Unfortunately, steak cannot be uncooked. If it goes beyond your preferred doneness, serve it sliced with garlic butter or a creamy sauce to help add moisture and flavor.

Expert Tip For Best Results

The biggest mistake most home cooks make is cooking by time alone. Every air fryer cooks slightly differently, and steak thickness varies. For consistently juicy filet mignon, cook to temperature, not just time. This single tip will improve your results more than any seasoning or cooking method.

How To Cook Brats In Air Fryer

Place the raw brats in the air fryer basket. Cook at 350 degrees F. for 8 minutes, flip and cook an additional 6-8 minutes. Check their temperature with a meat thermometer and remove them when they reach 160 degrees F.

Air Fryer Brats Tips & Tricks

  • Prick the brats before cooking: Use a fork to poke a few holes in the bratwurst before cooking. This will allow the steam to escape and prevent the brats from bursting or splitting.
  • Preheat the air fryer: Preheating the air fryer for a few minutes before cooking will help ensure that the brats cook evenly and have a crispy exterior.
  • Cook in batches: It’s best not to overcrowd the air fryer basket when cooking brats. Cook them in batches to ensure that they have enough space to cook evenly and to avoid any overlap.
  • Check for doneness: Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the internal temperature of the brats has reached 160°F (71°C), the minimum safe temperature for pork.
  • Rest the brats: Once the brats are cooked, remove them from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help the juices redistribute and make for a more flavorful bratwurst.

  4. Peppers: Grilled or sautéed peppers, such as red or green bell peppers, can add a pop of color and a slightly sweet and smoky flavor.

If you love crunchy snacks and pasta, this Air Fryer Crispy Tortellini is about to become your new favorite go-to recipe. Instead of boiling and serving tortellini the usual way, we’re breading and air frying these little pasta pillows until they’re golden, crisp, and irresistibly crunchy on the outside while staying soft and cheesy on the inside — all with far less oil than traditional frying.

Fried tortellini is delicious, but I wanted to eliminate the oil and create a “healthier” version to my favorite snack, appetizer, or even lunch option. Also, try my crunchy tortilla chips made in the air fryer. Serve with pizza sauce, marinara, or eat the seasoned tortellini alone.

Place on a serving platter with some crisp vegetables, and your favorite dipping sauce, and serve up as a party appetizer. Or drizzle with a little sauce or olive oil and dive in.

Try out my Instant Pot Rigatoni for another delicious pasta dinner idea. This is made with Italian sausage and a creamy marinara sauce mixture.

Ingredients and Variations

Tortellini – You can use fresh refrigerator tortellini or frozen for this recipe. I used classic cheese-stuffed tortellini, but feel free to buy whatever tortellini you want.

Bread Crumbs – I used seasoned bread crumbs to minimize the number of ingredients. But you can swap for plain and add in your favorite seasonings. Italian seasoning is another option to add to plain bread crumbs.

Egg – This is the wet mixture you will dip the pasta in, then dredge in the bread crumbs.

Oil – I used avocado oil to spritz the tortellini with. This will help to provide that golden crust you want.

Marinara – OPTIONAL but delicious.

Here is a visual walkthrough on how to make crispy air-fried tortellini. The full directions and ingredient measurements are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Here is a visual walk through on how to make air fryer crispy tortellini. The full directions and measurements of ingredients are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Step One: Preheat your air fryer as directed. I recommend preheating for 5 minutes to ensure the air fryer is nice and hot.

Step Two: Whisk eggs and place in a bowl, bread crumbs in another bowl and then work on dredging.

Step Three: Dip each tortellini pasta in the egg, followed by bread crumbs. Place in air fryer basket or tray.

Step Four: Air Fry, and spritz with oil if needed to help create a golden crust on the outside. I flip half way through the cook time and spritz the other side of the pasta.

Skip the fried appetizers and try this crispy tortellini recipe using your air fryer.

Garnish with fresh basil, parsley, additional seasoning, or even additional parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. I find a pop of fresh herbs helps to add color.

Pro Tips For Success

  • Place your tortellini in a single layer in your basket or air-fryer tray. Otherwise, they will not cook evenly.
  • Shake off excess egg and bread crumbs, making sure it isn’t too heavily coated, it can make a mess.
  • Place an air fryer parchment liner to help prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  • Air fry in batches if you want to make extra. Then keep the extras warm in the oven at 200 degrees, placed in a single layer on a lined baking sheet.

Storing Leftovers

Refrigerate: You can store any tortellini you don’t eat in the fridge for 3-5 days. They will become softer in texture once cooled down. But to get a crispy texture again, you can warm them back up in the air fryer for a few minutes.

Freezing: Feel free to freeze any of your tortellini for up to 3 months. Just place in a freezer bag or container that is freezer-approved. Thaw in the fridge and reheat or warm up straight from the freezer.

❓Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a taco ring?

A taco ring is a baked dish made with crescent dough, where seasoned taco meat and cheese are arranged in a ring and wrapped with crescent dough. It’s a fun and easy alternative to traditional tacos and is perfect for sharing.

Can I make this taco ring ahead of time?

Yes! You can assemble the taco ring up to 24 hours in advance, cover it tightly, and refrigerate. When ready to bake, add a few extra minutes to the baking time since it will be chilled.

What meat works best for a taco ring?

Ground beef is the most popular choice, but you can easily substitute ground turkey, ground chicken, or even shredded rotisserie chicken. For a vegetarian taco ring, use black beans, refried beans, or a plant-based meat alternative.

Can I use different dough instead of crescent rolls?

Crescent rolls work best for a classic taco ring, but puff pastry or crescent dough sheets can also be used. Just keep in mind that baking times may vary slightly.

How do I keep the taco ring from getting soggy?

Be sure to drain excess grease from the cooked meat and let it cool slightly before assembling the ring. Avoid adding wet toppings like salsa or sour cream until after baking.

What toppings go well with a taco ring?

Popular taco ring toppings include shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, pico de gallo, black olives, and jalapeños. Adding toppings after baking keeps the crescent dough crisp.

Can I freeze leftover taco ring?

Yes! Let leftovers cool completely, then wrap tightly and freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for best texture.

all the ingredients for making a Marinated Air Fryer Pork Tenderloin on a white table

Ingredients

You’ll need just a handful of everyday ingredients to create a flavorful marinade:

  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey mustard
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
  • 2 pounds pork tenderloin

How to Make Marinated Pork Tenderloin in the Air Fryer

Step 1: Make the Marinade

In a small bowl or jar, whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, brown sugar, honey mustard, garlic, lemon juice, and poultry seasoning until well combined.

Step 2: Marinate the Pork

Place the pork tenderloin in a casserole dish or resealable container. Pour the marinade over the pork, making sure it’s fully coated. Cover and refrigerate overnight for best flavor.

Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer

Preheat your air fryer to 400°F.

Step 4: Cook the Pork Tenderloin

Place the marinated pork tenderloin into the air fryer basket. Since the marinade is oil-based, additional oil isn’t necessary.

  • Cook at 400°F for 5 minutes
  • Reduce the temperature to 325°F and cook for 12–15 minutes, or until a meat thermometer reads 145°F at the thickest part

Step 5: Rest & Serve

Remove the pork from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This helps keep it juicy.

Tips for Juicy Air Pork

  • Always use a meat thermometer — overcooking causes dryness
  • Let the pork rest before slicing
  • Marinating overnight gives the best flavor, but 4–6 hours works in a pinch
  • Slice against the grain for the most tender bites

What to Serve with

It’s a versatile main dish that works for both casual dinners and special occasions.

FAQs

What temperature should pork tenderloin be cooked to?

Pork tenderloin is safe to eat when it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.

Can I cook pork tenderloin without marinating it overnight?

Yes, but marinating overnight gives the best flavor and juiciness. If short on time, marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Can I use a different air fryer model?

Absolutely. Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the size and model of your air fryer, so always check the internal temperature.

How to Make Pasta E Fagioli Soup In Instant Pot

Collage of images on how to make instant pot pasta e fagioli soup
  1. Cook sausage and onions in Instant Pot. Cook until browned and fully cooked.
  2. Toss in the garlic and Italian seasoning and cook for another minute or until fragrant.
  3. Pour in chicken stock and scrape the bottom of the Instant Pot. Then toss in your beans, pasta, parmesan rind, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper.
  4. Place lid on Instant Pot, cook 4 minutes on high pressure followed by a quick release.
  5. Remove lid and stir in the chopped kale and heavy cream. Let sit for 2-3 minutes to wilt the kale a bit.
  6. Serve with grated cheese and more red pepper flakes if you want.

Full directions and measurements for recipe are in the recipe card below.

Slow Cooker / Crock Pot Version (Set-and-Forget Comfort)

(Good for when you don’t have Instant Pot — or want to prep ahead.)

  • Sauté sausage, onion, garlic, and seasoning on the stove; then transfer to the slow cooker with broth, beans, parmesan rind, and seasonings. Cook on low 6–8 hours. About 30 minutes before serving, stir in pasta, kale and cream (or half-and-half).
  • This method creates deeper flavors from slow simmering — ideal for busy days when you want dinner waiting.

Easy Variations & Substitutions

  • Swap Italian sausage for ground pork, beef, chicken sausage, or go vegetarian (use veggie-friendly sausage or skip meat entirely).
  • Use kidney beans or a mix of beans for extra variety.
  • Swap chicken stock with vegetable or beef broth, depending on your taste or dietary preference.
  • For a tomato-rich version: add a can of diced tomatoes (drain or keep juices), or stir in a splash of crushed tomatoes. (This isn’t in the original — but many “Pasta e Fagioli” versions include tomatoes, which gives another flavor dimension.)
  • Lighter cream option: use half-and-half, whole milk, or omit altogether — the beans and broth keep it satisfying.

Storage, Reheating, and Meal Prep

Storage & reheating tips: After cooking and cooling, store in an airtight container. Keeps 3–4 days in fridge, or freeze for up to 2–3 months. When reheating, add a splash of broth or water, reheat gently, and whisk if cream has separated. (Many competitors skip or briefly mention storage — giving more detail can help your post stand out.)

Meal-prep guidance: This soup freezes well in individual portions — perfect for busy professionals, college students or empty nesters. Just thaw overnight or reheat gently on stove/microwave.

Brown sugar pineapple ham provides tender, beautifully sweetened slices of ham. Slow-roasted ham is an excellent holiday choice! The brown sugar and mustard will be spread on and used as a glaze on the outside of the ham, and the pineapple rings will go in between the slices.

This mouthwatering ham recipe is great for a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner main dish. Grab that spiral-cut ham and create a juicy ham with a sticky glaze bursting with sweet and savory flavors. Holiday dinners just got a whole lot tastier.

Check out how to make a spiral ham in the Instant Pot, try this double-smoked ham I made for my Easter dinner a few years back, or whip up this satisfying bourbon-glazed ham.

Reasons To Make This Brown Sugar Pineapple Ham

  • This is an easy recipe that requires just four ingredients to make.
  • The pineapple provides moisture and the brown sugar creates a caramelized crust for both flavor and texture.
  • The perfect recipe to elevate your spiral-cut ham you grabbed at the grocery store.
  • Great for a special occasion or holiday feast.
  • Offers an excellent presentation value for your dinner table.

Ingredients at a Glance

  • Spiral bone-in ham (pre-cooked)
  • Pineapple slices
  • Brown sugar
  • Dijon Mustard
casserole dish with ham and pineapples in between slices of ham

Step-by-Step Baking Instructions

Open the can of pineapple slices and generously arrange them between the ham slices. Pull apart the slices and place the pineapple in the sliced ham.

Then, you will take the juice from the can of pineapple and pour it over the whole ham.

Next, sprinkle the brown sugar over the top and sides of the ham. Then, use your hands to rub the ham down with the mustard and mix it with the brown sugar.

Cover the ham with a lid or aluminum foil, and bake as directed.  Be sure to baste the ham once or twice during baking to lock in flavor and keep it moist.

Once done, let cool for a bit, then slice and serve up this brown sugar ham.

Easy Variations to Try

  • Use maple syrup instead of brown sugar for a sweet maple glaze. It offers more of a fall flavor to the oven-baked ham recipe.
  • Experimenting with a splash of bourbon or a touch of cayenne brings a fun twist that still keeps this recipe approachable.
  • You can swap and use honey mustard, making it sweeter and tangier. Or go to a new level and do a Dijon or whole grain mustard for a spicier flavor.
  • Add crushed red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to heat the fresh ham.
  • You can reach for your favorite herbs to garnish and cook with the pineapple ham. It will add more flavor to the recipe.
  • If you want to add a whole new level of depth, you can add a splash of bourbon to the pineapple ham recipe. It makes this a tasty holiday meal main course.
  • Top the ham with a maraschino cherry for a traditional topper for your ham.

How to Store and Reheat Leftovers

Any leftover ham and pineapple can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.

Then, you can reheat it in the microwave, oven, or even the air fryer.

You can also freeze the ham in a freezer-friendly container for 2-3 months. Then, thaw in the fridge overnight and reheat as you wish.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 pound spiral ham
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 can spiral ham
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  • To begin, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Unwrap the pre-cooked spiral ham and place it in a large, oven-safe casserole dish.
  • Open the can of pineapple slices and generously arrange them between the slices of ham.
  • Pour the juice from the can of pineapple slices over the ham and pineapple.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the pineapple slices and ham. Rub the ham with Dijon mustard. You can adjust the amount of brown sugar to suit your sweetness preference. The sugar will caramelize during cooking, creating a delectable crust.
  • Cover the ham with aluminum foil, ensuring that it’s tightly sealed. This will help trap the moisture and flavors as the ham slow-cooks.
  • Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and let it cook for approximately 1.5 hours.
  • The exact cooking time may vary depending on the size of your ham, so keep an eye on it. The goal is to heat the ham through and allow the flavors to meld.
  • Periodically check the ham and baste it with the delicious juices that collect in the dish. This step ensures that your ham stays moist, flavorful, and beautifully glazed.
  • If your ham came with a glaze package, you can elevate the flavors even further. Mix the glaze with a few tablespoons of the pineapple juice, creating a luscious glaze. Brush this glaze over the ham for an extra layer of sweetness and shine.
  • Once your ham is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Then, slice it into generous portions, making sure to include the pineapple slices. Enjoy!

These Instant Pot Spare Ribs are one of our favorites. Fall off the bone tender bbq ribs that are bursting with flavor. I use a homemade dry rub to smear over all the rib meat, to marinade for optimal flavor. Instant Pot ribs are your new favorite recipe.

Pressure cooker ribs are so popular. With minimal work on your end, you can have ribs that are tender, juicy, and full of flavor.

I used my popular dry rub recipe, which you allow to marinade the pork to help add more flavor to the ribs.

Why You’ll Love It

Plus, you’ll get that beloved barbecue flavor even without firing up the smoker or spending all afternoon at the grill.

Tender – These are fork-tender ribs that fall right off the bone. It is a must-try recipe to help speed up the cooking time of ribs.

Flavorful – Now, these are not like ribs you cook on the grill. They are going to have a bit of a different flavor, but broiling in the oven after creates a sticky glaze on the outside which makes them insanely good.

Easy To Make – Simple and easy to make, with no significant steps. The most important step is prepping your pork ribs by trimming the fat.

Plate with pork ribs and Texas toast behind it with a towel behind it

Ingredients You Will Need

Pork Dry Rub – Now I used my own pork dry rib rub. You are welcome to buy a rub or make mine. My homemade pork rub has brown sugar, salt, pepper, chili powder, dry mustard, etc. The full ingredient list and measurements are below.

Ribs – I used spare pork ribs. You can swap with any cut of ribs you have.

Apple Cider Vinegar – Here is what will help tenderize your ribs but also add a nice tangy flavor to the meat.

Liquid Smoke – Liquid smoke is going to help give the ribs a smoky flavor without tossing it on the grill.

BBQ Sauce – We used a Kansas City blend BBQ sauce, but feel free to use any flavor of sauce you want.

dry rub mixture in a glass container

What To Use for Dry Rub Ribs

  • brown sugar
  • pepper
  • kosher salt
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • chili powder
  • dry mustard
  • smoked paprika

This pork dry rub is great for these ribs or even a rib roast that you smoke. Then you use apple cider vinegar, liquid smoke, and water in the Instant Pot.

You can tenderize the meat with apple cider vinegar, and the liquid smoke helps to add a bit more flavoring to the ribs.

They are not as good as smoked ribs, but they are pretty close.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Start by working on your dry rub, and then set it aside. You will use this on your rack of ribs.
  2. Now trim and prep your pork. You can see how I prepped in the video. I worked on cutting fat, and pulled the silver skin off (removed the membrane) from the back of the ribs.

Storing Leftovers

Store your leftover ribs in the fridge for a few days. Then, when you want to eat, eat cold or place it in the microwave to reheat.

If you want you can also cover in aluminum foil and then wrap tight and reheat in the oven! Heat till it is warm.

What to Serve With BBQ Pork Ribs

For a full bbq evening, don’t forget a crisp cold brew (or lemonade) and maybe skip the heavy sides and go with something light and bright to balance the rich ribs.

Ingredients

Pork Dry Rub

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instant Pot

  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 3-5 drops of liquid smoke
  • 1/2 cup bbq sauce
  • 1 Rack of Spare ribs can do up to 2

Instructions

  • Start by making your dry up. In a bowl add your brown sugar, pepper, salt, smoked paprika, chili powder, dry mustard, onion powder, garlic powder. Mix and set aside.
  • Now you will prep your spare ribs. Remove excess fat, cut off the membrane on the backside of ribs, and cut off the excess flap on ribs on back as well.
  • Once ribs are prepped you will use part of the rub on one side and then flip and massage the other part of rib rub on the other side of ribs. Wrap and then marinate in the fridge for up to an hour.
  • When ready to cook place the metal trivet in the Instant Pot, add in 1 1/2 cup water, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, and 3-5 drops of liquid smoke.
  • Put your ribs in meat facing out, so the bones will face inward. Try to set them up on the metal rack. Mine spare ribs were a bit too big so I did have to push them in the water a bit.
  • Place Instant Pot lid on in sealing position making sure the valve is closed.
  • Pressure cook 35 minutes with a natural release of 15 minutes.
  • Remove ribs from the pressure cooker, and place on air fryer rack in duo crisp or a pan to broil in the oven.
  • Baste ribs with barbecue sauce, and then air fry to make sauce sticky or toss in the oven on broil. This takes just a couple of minutes to do.
  • Remove, slice, and serve these Instant Pot bbq pork ribs. I sprinkled mine with parsley and served.

Notes

Baby Back Rib Directions: If you are cooking baby back ribs – pressure cook for 5 minutes with a 15-minute natural release.
Seasoning Ribs – You truly can use any flavor of dry rub you would like. Feel free to make your own or buy a rub if you don’t want to use the one I made above.
Broiling Ribs – At the end I broil the ribs after I smear on some sauce, this is going to create a sticky glaze on the pressure cooked pork ribs. Otherwise, they will lack a bit of flavor and texture.

Skip the grill and still get juicy burgers from your oven. Learn the simple trick to stop patties from shrinking and serve a no-fuss dinner your whole crew will love.

Burgers in the oven are a simple, no-fuss, easy meal idea. Prep your hamburger patties and toss them into a preheated oven. Juicy, flavorful burgers waiting for you to pile on the toppings. Oven-cooked burgers are a breeze to make.

raw hamburger patty in a white casserole pan with seasonings

No flipping or hovering over a skillet is needed. A truly simple way to make burgers. Best of all.. this recipe is awesome for when you have a crowd to feed. Also, check out my White Castle burger sliders.  Pair your burgers with your favorite toppings, a side of French fries, onion rings, or even some sweet potato fries. Ring the dinner bell and enjoy a delicious burger that takes minimal effort to make.

Also try my Blackstone Smash Burgers, they are so delicious if you own a flattop griddle. Or you can try my Instant Pot Crumble Burgers.

Why This Works

The oven becomes your grill without the flare-ups — and you can walk away while it cooks.

  • Easy prep and easy to prepare the hamburger meat.
  • Hands-off cooking.
  • For baked burgers, you toss in a baking dish and let it handle the rest.
  • Juicy burgers that are not dry or shrunk to a hockey puck size. Oven-baked burgers are
  • Versatile in seasoning the perfect burger. Feel free to season as you would prefer.

Ingredients

Ground Beef – “I use 90/10 ground beef to strike the perfect balance: enough fat for flavor, not so much that the patties get greasy.

Seasonings  – I use just salt and black pepper to flavor the oven-baked burgers. Feel free to use onion powder, garlic powder, kosher salt, season salt, Cajun seasoning, or whatever you prefer in terms of flavor. Or use a burger seasoning you know and love.

Buns and Toppings – These are optional. But we love to toast our buns and add lettuce, ketchup, mustard, pickles, etc. If you like a cheeseburger then add a slice of cheddar cheese to the end of the cooking process of the juicy burgers in the oven. Let the cheese get nice and melted.

Variations

Burger Patty – You can also swap in ground turkey or chicken — just keep in mind they’ll cook a bit faster and may need a light spray of oil to stay moist.”

Slice of Cheese – Add a slice of cheese to transform a burger into a cheeseburger. Cheddar cheese, Swiss, Pepper Jack, mozzarella, or any other type of cheese you prefer works. Add the last 2-3 minutes of cooking to the juicy hamburgers.

Steak Sauce or BBQ Sauce – Feel free to mix in a bit of steak sauce or even BBQ sauce to the hamburger patty meat for added flavor to the mixture. Alternatively, you can also cook the burgers for the last 5 minutes of the oven’s cooking time for added flavor.

Favorite Burger Toppings – Pile on lettuce, tomatoes, pickle, red onion, sliced bacon, secret sauce, caramelized onions, soft-boiled egg, etc. Feel free to make this quick meal idea as simple or as elaborate as you would like. This is an easy dinner recipe that you can honestly top any way you want.

Tips On How To Make Hamburger Patties

Here are some tips for making hamburger patties. Learn how to make hamburger patties perfectly every time. This is the best burger recipe, hands down when it comes to simplicity and allowing the meat to be the star.

  • Crumble the burger in a bowl.
  • Add a little salt and pepper to the meat and gently mix with your hands.
  • Grab a bit of the meat, and then form a patty in your hand.
  • Do not press the burgers too tightly, as this will make them dense and heavy.
  • Pro tip: pressing a small thumb-indent in each patty helps them cook evenly and keeps the edges from curling.
  • Cook hamburgers in oven as directed.

How to Make

Full directions on how to make this burger in the oven recipe are in the printable recipe card. This is a visual walk through.

Start by seasoning your meat, and then shaping into patties. I did four patties with one pound of ground beef.

Place burgers in a preheated oven and cook for 20-25 minutes or until your burgers are fully cooked. Depending on size of burgers and thickness varies in cook time.

How to Toast Hamburger Buns

  1. In a skillet on the stove, heat on medium heat, and add a drizzle of oil.
  2. Place the buns in the skillet, rub them with oil, and press them down lightly.
  3. Let the center of the buns cook for a couple of minutes, and then remove them when toasted.
  4. Than serve!

Storing Leftovers (and Re-heating Without Sacrificing Juiciness)

While fresh is best, these reheated patties are still great layered in a salad or chopped into a sandwich the next day.

To be honest, burgers are always best served fresh and warm. If you happen to prefer to save some back just store in a container in the fridge. It will last 2-3 days.

Reheat in the microwave or warm up in a skillet on medium-low heat. Both methods work great.

Instructions

  • Take your ground beef and crumble up in a bowl. Then you will lightly season with salt and pepper. Mix it up with your hands.
  • Shape the ground beef into 4 hamburger patties and place in a baking pan.
  • Press a hollow center in the center of your burgers. This will help prevent them from shrinking as they bake.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until your hamburger is fully cooked.

Making Large Batch – You can make as many hamburgers as you would like. I just prefer to make for a crowd. Just use a rimmed pan, to catch the grease that bakes off.

Looking for that perfect surf and turf dinner to impress? Enter: Steak Oscar — a show-stopping dish topped with tender crab meat, crisp-tender asparagus, and a rich, velvety Béarnaise sauce. It’s the kind of meal that feels fancy but is surprisingly easy to prepare at home.

Whether you’re planning a date night or want to elevate your weeknight meals, this Oscar-style steak will satisfy your steak and seafood cravings most indulgently.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Elegant enough for holidays or celebrations
  • Easy to customize with different proteins
  • Restaurant-quality taste at home
  • Pairs perfectly with wine, potatoes, or fresh greens

What is Steak Oscar

Oscar-style steak refers to a steak topped with crab and a béarnaise sauce. The bearnaise sauce is made with butter and egg yolks, which create this rich and creamy sauce.

Variations of Steak Oscar

  • Can easily swap it with chicken or go traditional and do veal
  • Skip the asparagus and use fresh green beans or skip the vegetable altogether.
  • You can get rid of crab meat and use shrimp or lobster in replace

What To Serve With Steak Oscar

This dish is rich and flavorful, so pair it with sides that complement it without overpowering.

  • Crusty bread or dinner rolls – perfect for soaking up the sauce
  • Mashed potatoes or roasted fingerlings – classic steakhouse pairing
  • Simple mixed greens salad – keeps things light
  • Grilled or sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers – a tasty vegetable swap
  • Your favorite wine – a full-bodied red or crisp white, both work well

What is the difference between hollandaise and bearnaise sauce?

Many get confused between the two sauces. The difference between a hollandaise and a bearnaise sauce is that bearnaise is more acidic. Hollandaise is made with lemon juice, and bearnaise also gets seasoned with tarragon and shallots. It offers more flavor than a hollandaise which is a bit blander.

steak oscar crab
Variations on Steak Oscar

  • 🐔 Chicken Oscar – Swap the steak for pan-seared chicken breasts.
  • 🐄 Veal Oscar – The traditional option if you’re going classic.
  • 🦐 Shrimp or lobster – Use in place of crab for a twist on surf and turf.
  • 🌱 Veggie swaps – Green beans, broccolini, or mushrooms instead of asparagus.

How do you make Bearnaise Sauce

Making béarnaise sauce is relatively easy. One thing I have found is that you want to make it right before serving, or it can begin to break down. Take that into account as you make your sauce to pour over your delicious crab-topped steak recipe.

Start by taking your white wine vinegar, wine, onion, and tarragon and bring to a boil in a pan. Reduce the heat and allow it to simmer until it reduces. Recipe: Simmer and scoop off any foam or solids that develop after adding the butter. Allow to cool, then strain and remove your leaves.

Don’t get scared, the process is easy to do, and the sauce really makes this dish outstanding in flavor.

Tips for Making Steak Oscar

  • Use a cut of steak that you prefer. Just ensure it is a steak that will cook down and become tender. Flatirons, filet mignons, rib eye cuts are all great. You can talk to your local butcher to find a steak cut that works. You don’t have to be boxed into a certain type of cut.
  • When cooking your steak, cook it to your preference. If you like it rarer than cook like that. I prefer a more medium to well-done steak but you can adjust to your liking.
  • Fresh crab meat is best but you can always buy canned crab. It will adjust in the flavor but buy what you have available in your area.

FAQs

Can I use canned crab meat?
Yes, though fresh lump crab gives the best flavor. If using canned, be sure to drain well.

Can I make the sauce ahead of time?
Béarnaise is best made fresh, as it can separate if reheated. Prepare it just before serving.

What’s the best steak cut for Steak Oscar?
Filet mignon is traditional, but ribeye, New York strip, or flat iron also work beautifully.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • 1 shallot or small onion minced
  • 1 sprig tarragon plus more to garnish
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cups plus 1 Tablespoon butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2-4 steaks of choice
  • 3-5 stalks asparagus per steak
  • 4 oz crab meat per steak

Instructions

  • Start off by preparing the bearnaise sauce. Combine the white wine vinegar, white wine, onion, and tarragon in a small pan and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to simmer and continue simmering until the liquid is reduced to just 2-3 Tablespoons of liquid. While the liquid is reducing, melt your 3/4 cup butter and scoop off any milk solids/foam that comes to the surface. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • When the reduction is done, strain out any onions and tarragon leaves.
  • Place a double boiler on the stove, or a pot that a glass or metal bowl can fit comfortably on top of. Also, fill a deep pan (that the asparagus can fit into) with water and place on the stove. Bring both of the waters to boil as you prepare the steaks.
  • Season the steaks and place 1 Tablespoon butter and oil in a heavy pan (like a cast iron skillet) and let the oil-butter mixture get hot before adding the steaks. Sear on each side until browned, and then cook through to your preferred level of doneness.
  • Remove the steaks to a plate to rest as you finish up the bearnaise and Blanche the asparagus.
  • Place the asparagus in the boiling water and reduce to simmer.
  • Place the egg yolks in the bowl and whisk in the white wine reduction.
  • Slowly whisk in the butter, incorporating as you go. Do not allow there to be standing butter at any time – this process can take 3-5 minutes to fully incorporate the butter. Taste and season the bearnaise, as needed.
  • Assemble the steak oscar by placing a steak on each serving plate, top with a tablespoon of bearnaise, 4 oz of crab meat, 2 Tablespoons of bearnaise to cover the crab meat, 3-5 stalks of asparagus, and a final tablespoon of bearnaise.
  • Garnish with tarragon and serve immediately.

(You might also enjoy these recipes: Easy Chicken Alfredo Pasta and One‑Pot Garlic Butter Shrimp). My son, Clay, gobbles up this stroganoff recipe every single time we make it. This is a kid-friendly recipe that brings comfort to your home.

Why You’ll Love This Creamy Beef Stroganoff

  • Ultra creamy sauce that clings to every noodle so you get all the flavors in each bite.
  • Tender beef cooked just right (no overcooking).
  • Loaded with mushrooms and aromatics for depth.
  • Simple pantry ingredients, no fancy techniques.
  • Perfect comfort food for dinner + leftovers taste great.

Kitchen Equipment Needed

  • Large heavy skillet or Dutch oven
  • Sharp chef’s knife
  • Cutting board
  • Wooden spoon or silicone spatula
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups & spoons
  • Colander (for draining noodles)

Ingredients

  • BEEF SIRLOIN STRIPS — Choose a tender cut like sirloin or tenderloin; slice across the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • BUTTER — For sautéing vegetables, gives richness and depth.
  • OLIVE OIL — Helps prevent butter burning and aids in searing meat.
  • ONION (DICED) — Adds savory sweetness as the base.
  • GARLIC (MINCED) — Lifts flavor with aromatic punch.
  • MUSHROOMS (SLICED) — Earthy, meaty texture that soaks up sauce.
  • ALL‑PURPOSE FLOUR — Helps thicken the sauce into a silky coating.
  • BEEF BROTH — Provides savory backbone; use low‑sodium if you salt separately.
  • WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE — Adds umami and depth.
  • DIJON MUSTARD — A little tang to balance the richness.
  • SOUR CREAM — The star of “creamy” — don’t boil after adding.
  • PAPRIKA (SMOKY OR SWEET) — Brings color and mild warmth.
  • SALT & PEPPER — To taste.
  • EGG NOODLES (COOKED) — Classic pairing, but you can serve over rice or pasta if desired.

Instructions (How to Make the Stroganoff)

  1. Pat beef strips dry and season with salt & pepper.
  2. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil + half the butter over medium‑high. Sear beef in batches until browned but not fully cooked; remove and reserve.
  3. Add remaining butter, then sauté onion until translucent. Add garlic and mushrooms, cook until mushrooms release moisture and begin browning.
  4. Sprinkle flour over veggies, stir for 1 minute to cook slightly.
  5. Gradually whisk in beef broth, deglazing any browned bits. Stir in Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and paprika.
  6. Simmer sauce until it thickens mildly.
  7. Return beef (and juices) to pan; reduce heat. Stir in sour cream gently (don’t boil). Let it heat through until creamy.
  8. Taste and adjust salt/pepper. Serve over warm egg noodles or your preferred base.

Tips

  • Slice beef thin and against the grain so it’s tender.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan — sear in batches for better browning.
  • Add sour cream off heat or over very low heat, otherwise it may curdle.
  • Use low‑sodium broth so you control salt.
  • Let your sauce rest a moment after off heat to thicken further.
  • If sauce gets too thick, whisk in a splash of broth or milk (don’t boil).

Variations

  1. Ground Beef Stroganoff — Swap sirloin strips for lean ground beef for a quicker, budget version.
  2. Chicken Stroganoff — Use chicken breast or thighs in place of beef.
  3. Cream Cheese Blend — Use half sour cream + half cream cheese for extra richness.
  4. Wine or Brandy Add — Deglaze with white wine or cognac before broth for depth (optional).
  5. Vegetarian Stroganoff — Use mushrooms, tofu or seitan in place of beef, and vegetable broth.

People Also Ask

Q: What cut of beef is best for creamy beef stroganoff?
A: A tender, quick‑cooking cut like sirloin, tenderloin, or ribeye is ideal. Tougher cuts require longer cooking and may become chewy.

Q: Can I make beef stroganoff ahead or freeze leftovers?
A: Yes — store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3–4 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat gently and add a splash of broth if sauce thickens.

How to Store Leftovers

Let the stroganoff cool slightly before transferring to airtight containers. In the refrigerator, it will stay good for 3–4 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat, stirring and adding a little broth (or water) if the sauce thickens or seems dry. For longer storage, freeze in freezer‑safe containers for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in fridge before reheating.

In conclusion, this Best Creamy Beef Stroganoff recipe is your ticket to hearty, comforting dinners that feel gourmet but are easy to prepare. As a single mom, I am always looking for a wholesome but simple dinner that can come together quickly.

Air Fryer Ham and Cheese ingredients laid out on table

Ingredients Needed

  • Sliced Deli Ham
  • Sliced Colby Jack and Provolone Cheese
  • Honey Mustard
  • Buns (your choice)

How To Make Hot Ham and Cheese In The Air Fryer

Take the top bun and spread honey mustard (or your preferred sauce) over it. Layer three slices of ham, one slice of Colby Jack, and one slice of Provolone on each bun.

Put the prepared sandwiches in the basket of your air fryer. Set the temperature to 370°F and cook for 8-10 minutes or until the bread is toasted to your liking and the ham and cheese are heated through.

Tips & Tricks

Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket: Ensure there is enough space between the sandwiches in the air fryer basket to allow hot air to circulate freely around them. Overcrowding can cause the sandwiches to cook unevenly and not get as crispy.

Adjust the cooking time and temperature: Depending on the size and thickness of your bread, as well as the type of cheese you’re using, you may need to adjust the cooking time and temperature to achieve the desired level of toastiness and melting.

Experiment with different sauces and toppings: While honey mustard is a classic choice for ham and cheese sandwiches, feel free to experiment with other sauces and toppings, such as mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, pickles, or tomatoes, to create your perfect sandwich.

  • Air fryers vary, so remove your sandwiches once they reach the desired doneness.
  • Add your favorite sauce. We used honey mustard, but aioli sauce, mayo, ranch, or anything else you like will work.

In a separate bowl, mix together cornstarch, flour, salt, pepper, crushed crackers, and any other desired seasonings.

Step 3: Add breading

Remove the chicken legs from the buttermilk mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Dip each leg into the flour mixture, ensuring it is coated evenly. Press the flour mixture onto each leg to help it adhere.

Step 4: Fry chicken legs

Heat the oil in a skillet to 350°F. Carefully place the chicken legs into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the skillet. Fry for about 30 minutes, flipping the legs periodically to ensure that they cook evenly and do not burn.

Step 5: Remove and serve

Once the chicken is fully cooked (reaching an internal temperature of 165°F), remove it from the skillet and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Let the chicken cool for a few minutes before serving.

Fried Chicken Tips & Tricks

  1. Use a heavy-bottomed skillet: A heavy-bottomed skillet helps distribute heat evenly, which is crucial when frying chicken legs.
  2. Use enough oil: Ensure the chicken legs are fully submerged in the oil; use enough oil to fill the skillet about halfway.
  3. Heat the oil to the right temperature: You want the oil to be hot enough to cook the chicken legs quickly, but not so hot that it burns the breading. Aim for a temperature of around 350-375°F (175-190°C).
  4. Don’t overcrowd the skillet: Frying too many chicken legs at once can lower the oil’s temperature and cause the chicken to cook unevenly. Fry in batches if needed.
  5. Use tongs to handle the chicken: Tongs are the best tool for handling chicken legs as they allow you to turn and move them around in the skillet without disturbing the breading.
  6. Drain the chicken on paper towels: Once the chicken legs are cooked, use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove them from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain off any excess oil.
  7. Let the chicken rest before serving: Let the chicken legs rest for a few minutes before serving to allow the juices to settle and the breading to crisp up even more.

Following these tips should help you achieve perfectly crispy and delicious fried chicken legs in a skillet.

How To Make Fried Coconut Shrimp

  1. Prepare the Batter: Begin by creating a smooth batter in a mixing bowl. Combine half a cup of flour, an egg, baking powder, milk, salt, and spices. Mix until you achieve a batter that slowly drips from the spoon. Adjust the consistency by adding more flour or milk if necessary.

  3. Dip in Batter: Dip each flour-coated shrimp into the prepared batter, ensuring they are fully covered while leaving the tip of the tail clean.
  4. Create the Crispy Coating: Combine panko and coconut in a separate bowl. Roll the shrimp in this mixture until they are thoroughly coated.

FAQs

Can I use frozen shrimp for this recipe?

Yes, it’s fine to use frozen shrimp, but it’s important to thaw the shrimp thoroughly before proceeding with the recipe. Pat them dry to ensure the coating sticks well.

How can I make my coconut shrimp extra crispy?

To achieve maximum crispiness, freeze the coated shrimp for at least an hour before frying. This helps the coating set and become exceptionally crispy during frying.

What oil is best for frying coconut shrimp?

Vegetable oil or canola oil are good choices for frying coconut shrimp. They have a high smoke point and a neutral flavor that won’t overpower the dish.

Can I bake coconut shrimp instead of frying?

While frying provides the classic crispy texture, baking coconut shrimp offers a healthier alternative. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown.

Ingredients

Steak – You can use any cut of steak you want. You will cube it up into 1-inch cubes.

Potatoes – I diced up small potatoes. These work great as you don’t need to peel the potatoes as the skin is very thin.

Butter – Use real butter that is unsalted. This is going to be drizzled on the cooked steak and potatoes.

Garlic – Minced garlic is what you will want. You can use jarred garlic or mince it yourself.

Seasonings – Kosher salt, pepper, and. Garlic powder is all I used to season the steak and potatoes. Kosher salt helps to really enhance the flavor of the potatoes and steak.

Oil – You will need oil to put down on the Blackstone. We tend to use Smart Balance oil, but any works just as long as it isn’t olive oil as that oil can not handle high heat.

Cuts of Steak To Use

Steak lovers will love all these cuts of beef. They offer the perfect marbling of meat and fat for a juicy steak bites end result. Here are some cuts of beef for this garlic butter steak bites recipe that could work nicely. The key is good steak, so your meat isn’t tough.

  • Top Sirloin
  • Flat Iron Steak
  • Etc.

You can use any cut of steak you would like. Top sirloin steak, ribeye, flat iron steak, etc.

Any oil can be used if it has a high smoke point, so it doesn’t burn and smoke too much as it cooks.

Toss on some veggies to add more flavor. Dice up some carrots, mushroom, broccoli, or other crisp veggies.

Top the dish with some fresh parsley for color and added flavor.

Change up the flavor of steaks with seasonings you use.

Serve the rice over a bed of rice, or even toss some leftover rice on the griddle and sear it up right before serving.

How To Make

Full steps and measurements are in the printable recipe card below. This is a visual walk through on how to make this Blackstone steak bites and crispy potatoes.

top bowl potatoes and bottom steak bites

Step One: First step is to dice up your steak into bite size pieces. I did around 1-inch cubes. Head outside and turn on your Blackstone to high heat.

Step Two: Season steak cubes with a little oil, kosher salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Toss to coat and set aside.

Step Three: Prep potatoes by rinsing and then dicing up into bite size pieces. Season with oil, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Toss to coat and set aside.

Step Four: Head out to grill and add oil on one side of the grill for potatoes. If you have a smaller grill just cook potatoes first.

Step Five: Toss potatoes on oiled grill and place in a single layer. Add a little water and quickly cover potatoes. Steak potatoes for about 4-5 minutes.

Expert Tip: Don’t have a Blackstone dome? Use an aluminum foil 9×13 baking pan. It’s affordable and works great as a dome.

Step Six: Next remove the dome and stir potatoes a bit making sure they flip over so they don’t become too brown on one side. Add a squirt more of water and place the dome on again to steam. Cook for another 5 minutes.

Step Seven: Add oil to the other side of the grill and toss on the seasoned steak. Cook for a couple of minutes and then move steak around to sear al sides.

Step Eight: Remove cover over potatoes and cook a bit longer without the  lid. This will finish cooking the potatoes and creating a nice golden outside. If you need add a bit of oil.

collage of steak bites with potatoes

Step Nine: Place a small dish on Blackstone with butter and garlic and let melt. Then drizzle over steak and potatoes.

Once both are fully cooked, remove and serve up. Use any leftover garlic butter to drizzle on steak bites and potatoes as you serve it for additional flavor.

Helpful Tips for Success

Cut potatoes and steak into similar sizes. That way as it cooks you get an even cook on all the pieces.

Steaming the potatoes will help cook then through and prevent the potatoes from drying out on the flat top grill.

I serve the extra garlic butter on the side if anyone wants to drizzle their meat or potatoes with more of the butter mixture.

The better quality steak you have the more tender the end result will be.

Aim for a single layer of potatoes and steak. Don’t pile it on top of each other or you will get an uneven cook.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds steak diced in 1 inch cubes
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 pound new potatoes diced into bite size pieces
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  • The first step is to preheat your flat top grill to high temperature.
  • Grab two bowls, one for steak and one for potatoes. Then cube up your steak, and potatoes. I did 1 inch cubes for steak pieces and then for potatoes I cubed in half to quarters depending on the size.
  • Then pour 1/2 teaspoon of oil in each of the boils. Along with 1/2 teaspoon salt in each, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, and split the 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder between the two.
  • Toss with a spoon to coat all the potatoes in the steak and potatoes. Then head outside.
  • Add a little oil to one side of your Blackstone, and toss down the potatoes. Spread into a single layer. Squirt on some water, and cover with a dome, or 9×13 aluminum foil pan.
  • Let the potatoes cook for 4-5 minutes. Then remove the dome, stir well, squirt more water, and then cover again for another 4-5 minutes.
  • Add your butter and garlic into a small pan and place on the side of the grill to let it melt.
  • Toss down your steak, and sear on each side. You will cook the steak till your desired doneness. I made ours well done.
  • Remove the dome from the potatoes and stick a fork in to check the doneness of the potatoes. If the potatoes are done they will be fork tender. If you need repeat water and dome one more time. Or let them finish cooking witout the lid.
  • Once the steak and potatoes are cooked spoon some of the garlic butter mixture over the steak and potatoes. Stir to mix and then plate up the garlic butter steak, potatoes, and serve the rest of the garlic butter on the side.

Cast Iron Skillet Directions

  • Prep the potatoes and steak the same way. Get the pan hot with some oil in the pan. Heat on medium-high. Then cook the potatoes until they are fully cooked and nice and golden. This took around 6-7 minutes per side.
  • Remove the potatoes and then toss in the seasoned steak bites. Cook until it is done to your desired doneness.
  • Add the potatoes back into the skillet and spoon over some melted butter with garlic.
  • You can heat the butter up in the microwave or on the stovetop in a small pan. Use extra for added drizzle if people want.

Notes

Steak – There are so many varieties of steak to use for this recipe. The biggest thing is to evenly cube and the better quality steak the more tender the beef will be.
Potatoes – The potatoes are optional, but they pair really well with the steak.
Flat Top Grill – Any brand of flat top grills will work for this recipe, or reach for a skillet and cook on the stove.

  • Uniform Sized Chicken – It’s helpful to cut the chicken so it’s sized the same. This way you don’t have to worry about some pieces cooking faster than others.
  • Swap the mustard – If you don’t like honey mustard, feel free to use Dijon instead. Both are delicious!
  • Shred the cheese – I know you may want to save yourself a step, but it’s so much better when you shred the cheese yourself. YUM!

How to Make Stove Top Chili

Here is a quick walkthrough on how to make this easy chili recipe on the stove. Full directions and measurements are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.

To prepare this dish, start by browning the ground beef in a Dutch oven and removing any excess grease.

Next, add the tomatoes, tomato juice, beans, and seasoning to the beef and mix everything thoroughly.

Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for 20 minutes. Once it’s ready, serve the hot dish with your preferred toppings.

Variations to Recipe

Vegetables: Add in diced onions and bell peppers for added flavor. I do recommend sauteing them with ground beef.

Rotel: Consider swapping the diced tomatoes with a can of Rotel for added flavor.

Ground Meat: From ground venison, sausage, pork, chicken, or turkey. Any ground meat will work for swapping or adding to the ground beef.

Spicy: Want to elevate the heat? Add some diced hot peppers like serranos, jalapenos, or crushed red pepper flakes.

What to Serve With Chili

If you grew up in the Midwest, you would find that cinnamon rolls were traditionally served with chili. Or you might want a more basic cornbread, garlic bread, or some buttered biscuits.

Some areas worldwide serve chili with a bed of rice, polenta, or even quinoa. Feel free to serve up your chili any way you would like.

Storing

Store any leftover chili in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Then, you can warm it up in the microwave or on the stovetop. This is a delicious chili that reheats well the next day.

Homemade chicken strips are crispy, fried to perfection, and delicious. Crunchy breading and juicy chicken in every bite! Pair your homemade chicken fingers with your favorite dipping sauce and dive in. Kids and adults will enjoy this chicken recipe.

Homemade Chicken Strips on a plate stacked on top of one another

Fried chicken fingers are a household staple for us! You control the ingredients, making it a healthier chicken tenders recipe compared to buying store-bought tenders. Plus, you could do air fryer vs pan-frying, or even use some cooking spray and oven-bake the chicken for healthier options.

Want more easy chicken recipes? Try out my Tuscan chicken, Kung Pao chicken, or this oven-baked marinated chicken breast recipe. All are delicious dinner ideas.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • These are similar to a restaurant-style chicken fingers you would order. Get the same great flavor but made from scratch.
  • It is easy to find ingredients that you can see and make any night of the week. We love to pair it with homemade ranch for dipping or peppered gravy
  • This is an easy recipe that has straightforward step-by-step directions.
  • Deep fry, pan fry, bake, or air fry options. I used a cast iron skillet to fry them in this recipe.
ingredients for homemade chicken strips on table in single serve bowls to show each ingredient

Ingredients Needed

  • Boneless skinless chicken breasts or tenders – Either can be used. Trim any silverskin you see or fat so you have prepped chicken before you dredge the chicken.
  • Flour – All-purpose flour works. Or you can use a gluten-free flour blend.
  • Cornstarch
  • Saltine Crackers, Club, or Ritz
  • Season Salt
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Eggs
  • Milk – Whole milk offers the richest flavor.

Variations to Recipe

  • Instead of crackers, you can use breadcrumbs to replace them. Regular breadcrumbs work best, as you won’t have spices mixed in it.
  • You can dip the chicken in a buttermilk mixture for a richer flavor. Plus, soaking the chicken in buttermilk for 30 minutes helps lock in moisture as it cooks.
  • Place your chicken strips in an air fryer and cook at 375 degrees until the chicken is cooked. Or you can bake the chicken in the oven.
  •  Dice up into smaller bite-sized pieces to make chicken nuggets instead.
  • Season with garlic salt, Creole, or other spices or herbs to change the flavor of these crispy tenders.

How To Make Homemade Chicken Strips

Start by prepping your chicken and cutting it into thinner strips.

Then, add your dry ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.

In another bowl, add your eggs and milk and whisk well. You want to make sure all the eggs are mixed up.

Dip the chicken in the flour, then egg mixture, then flour again. Set the chicken strips to the side after they are dredged.

Heat your oil in the pan. Once hot, place some chicken in the pan and fry until fully cooked. Place chicken on a paper towel-lined towel, then cook another chicken batch.

Homemade Chicken Strips on plate with one with a bite taken out of it being held in the hand

Tips & Tricks

  • Cut chicken into even strips that are similar in size and thickness. That way, you get evenly cooked chicken.
  • Soak chicken in buttermilk with a little hot sauce before breading for added flavor and tenderness.
  • Use a combination of flour and cracker crumbs for a crispy coating. We prefer Club Crackers or Ritz, but you can use other varieties.
  • Fry in oil heated to 350°F for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Do not place the chicken in the cooking oil until it is hot; otherwise, you will not get that crispy battered texture.
  • Drain on a wire rack or paper towel to prevent fogginess.
  • Add red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, or any other seasonings you enjoy if you want added flavor to the mixture.

Storing

You can refrigerate any leftovers you have for 3-4 days. Just place it in an airtight container and reheat it as you like.

Or you can place the cooked chicken strips in a freezer-friendly container and freeze for 1-3 months. Then reheat straight from the freezer when you are ready to eat.

ingredients for tater tot casserole in single bowls on table

Ingredients

  • Ground Beef
  • Sweet Corn
  • Green Beans
  • Cream of Chicken
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Frozen Tater Tots
  • Shredded Cheese

How To Make Tater Tot Casserole

To begin, preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease the casserole dish with cooking spray, and set your prepared casserole dish to the side.

In a large skillet, cook your ground beef until it is fully cooked and no longer pink. Drain off the excess grease.

Mix the cooked ground beef, cream of chicken, corn, green beans, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

Grease a casserole dish and evenly spread the ground beef mixture on the bottom. Next, add half of the cheese on top of the beef mixture. Place the tater tots on top of the cheese, arranging them in even rows if desired or simply tossing them on.

Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until the tater tots are crispy and the soup layer is hot. Add more time if needed.

Once done, sprinkle the remaining cheese on top of the casserole and broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese has melted and is golden brown.

Serve and enjoy.

Variations and Tips & Tricks

  • Season as desired. Add your favorite seasonings to the soup mixture. We like ours simple with salt and pepper, but anything you like should work.
  • Swap the soup. Not a fan of cream of chicken? That is no problem; swap it for cream of mushroom soup or cream of celery instead.
  • Different cheese works. We used sharp cheddar cheese, but Colby jack, mozzarella, or even pepper jack would be tasty options.
  • Shred the cheese yourself. I promise shredding the cheese is simple and tastes way better than bagged cheese.
  • Crispy Tots: Make sure you allow your tots on top to get nice and crispy. This will help add flavor and texture to the meat mixture. Adjust the cooking time as needed.
  • Preheated Oven: Take the time to start with a preheated oven, and make sure to prep your baking dish.

Dorito Casserole on a plate

This Mexican casserole recipe is hot and cooks up in no time, making it a simple, no-fuss dinner even picky eaters will try. Another idea is this condensed soup dinner idea list. I am a sucker for easy dinner ideas that is a total comfort food. My son loves this ground beef Doritos casserole.

Why make this Dorito casserole recipe…

Easy Casserole: Cook the meat and mix in the ingredients. Assemble the casserole and toss it in the oven to bake.

Budget-Friendly Dinner—This is a great budget-friendly dinner option. Only a few ingredients are needed for the Mexican casserole.

Stores Well Leftover—If you happen to have leftovers, store them in an airtight container. Then, reheat in the microwave for a quick whip.

Versatile—You can easily change this casserole by mixing in ground chicken, rotisserie chicken, ground turkey, etc. This recipe is a great way to create a custom dish you enjoy.

Mexican Food—This is an easy, budget-friendly Mexican-inspired dish! The taco meat is so easy to throw together and gives this dish tons of Mexican flavors.

Ingredients

Ground Beef – You are welcome to use ground pork, chicken, or even turkey. Or use cooked diced chicken or shredded.

Onion – Yellow or white onion will work best for this recipe.  Finely dice the yellow onion.

Taco Seasoning – Any brand you like or make homemade taco seasoning.

I used Doritos—classic nacho cheese for this recipe. You will crush tortilla chips for the bottom and top of the casserole.

Sour Cream – The sour cream adds a nice creamy texture.

Refried Beans—This is an extra item you can add to the dish. We loved the refried beans mixed in with the meat mixture. They added a lot of flavor to the dish.

Shredded Cheese – I used a Mexican cheese blend but any of your favorite cheese blends works.

Rotel—Rotel is diced tomatoes and green chiles. Do not drain the can, as the liquid helps keep the filling moist rather than dry.

Swaps and Substitutions

  • Use a different flavor of Doritos—like Cool Ranch Doritos or even taco-flavored. Or go classic and reach for regular tortilla chips.
  • Leave out refried beans or swap in black beans for a twist on flavor to the ground beef mixture.
  • Mix in drained corn, black olives, bell peppers, etc.
  • Use diced tomatoes if you don’t have or like green chilis.
  • You can use any type of shredded cheese. Pepper jack cheese, Monterey jack cheese, or any other variety works. Use lots of cheese for a cheesy casserole.
  • Mix 4 ounces of cream cheese with the ground beef mixture for an even cheesier texture.
  • Replace Rotel tomatoes with salsa if you would like.
  • You can use a green salsa for a twist on flavor.

How to Make

ground beef in a skillet with onion and then sour cream and rotel in pan on top of beef on bottom picture

Step One: In a pan, add your ground beef and onions. Then you will cook until no longer pink. Drain off any excess oil on the meat.

Step Two: Next, add your taco seasoning and water to the pan. Mix well so the meat is fully seasoned.

Step Three: The next step is to stir in the refried beans and then pour in the Rotel and sour cream. Remove from heat and stir until combined.

Step Four: Next, crumble some chips and place them in the bottom of your casserole dish. Sprinkle on a thin layer of cheese.

Step Five: Pour the meat mixture over the chips, and top with shredded cheese and crumbled Doritos.

Step Six: Place in a preheated oven and cook for 10 minutes. Remove and serve up your Dorito casserole.

How to Serve

We ate this Mexican ground beef casserole as a meal in one. We piled it high with lettuce, diced tomatoes, a dollop of sour cream, etc.

You could easily pair with your favorite vegetable side dish, salad, etc.

fork with some taco casserole on plate and fork

Storage

In the Fridge: The Doritos casserole will store in an airtight container for 3-4 days. Reheat leftovers in the microwave or oven wrapped in foil.

In the Freezer: You can freeze leftovers. Once froze and thawed, the top chips will change in texture. You can freeze the casserole for 2-3 months and then put it in the fridge overnight.

Pro Tips

  • Drain off any excess grease from the ground beef before adding the other ingredients.
  • If you do not want to eat soggy chips, skip the bottom layer. We like the bottom layer, as it adds tons of flavor to the casserole.
  • The meat mixture is wet, but we prefer a creamier casserole instead of dried-out.
  • You can use hot or medium seasoning to add some spice, and the same goes for the Rotel.

If you are a fan of venison, try this venison roast recipe. It’s a slow-cooked venison roast that is juicy, tender, and perfectly paired with mashed potatoes, veggies, or your favorite sides. Or check out the oven method for making deer roast. Both methods are delicious and an easy way to learn how to cook deer meat

You could easily add baby carrots and mini potatoes to your roast if you would like. This is a simple way to cook venison that turns out delicious. This recipe works with backstrap, roast, or steaks. This deer roast recipe transforms the wild game into a delicious, tender, and juicy cut of meat.

If you love venison recipes, I have a few more for you to check out. Try my venison jerky, or even this easy venison steak.

deer roast on platter

Searing the meat before slow cooking locks in flavor and also gives the venison meat a great texture. This is one step I recommend not skipping. This venison pot roast recipe gives you that fall-apart tender meat that is full of juicy protein.

Why Make This Recipe

Easy Oven Directions—Follow these simple steps for an easy oven-roasted venison deer roast that is fall-apart, tender, and juicy—the two things you want in deer meat.

Pantry Ingredients—There is no need for strange ingredients. You might already have items in stock in your pantry or spice cabinet. The simple ingredients provide that flavorful venison roast you are looking for.

Tender and Juicy—No Dry Roast! This is a great recipe to lock in moisture and serve up a juicy venison roast. Since venison is a leaner meat, it can become dry, but this recipe helps prevent it from drying out. This is the most tender venison roast. I hope you enjoy it.

ingredients for deer roast on counter in glass bowls

Ingredients

Venison—Depending on how you cut or had meat cut, you will want around 2 ½ pounds of a roast. This is a wonderful venison backstrap roast recipe. If you do a bone-in, just cook the roast a bit longer.

Steak Seasoning and Onion Powder—You can use your favorite homemade seasoning or buy steak seasoning

Oil – Canola, vegetable, or even olive oil will work. You just have to watch Olive oil as it smokes more when heated up.

Garlic and Onion—These two will help add a nice richness to the venison meat. Yellow or sweet onions are best.

Beef Broth—Beef broth is the liquid that helps ensure your meat stays juicy and tastes nice. The bone broth would also be a great flavor.

Worcestershire Sauce is one ingredient I always like to use with pot roast. It adds a nice depth and a slight salty component.

How to Make

how to cook deer meat collage in slow cooker

Step 1: Dry the venison meat with a paper towel. Season the venison steaks, backstrap, or roast with steak seasoning. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan to medium-high, searing each side for 3-4 minutes. You want to brown roast on both sides. You can do this in a Dutch oven or cast iron skillet.

Step 2: Transfer the meat to a baking dish or leave it in a Dutch oven. Then, toss in the onions and garlic and cook for 1 minute in the same skillet on the stovetop.

Step 3: Pour in the broth and deglaze the pan, then use a wooden spoon to scrape browned bits off the pan. The stuck-on pieces will add tons of flavor to the meat.

Step 4: Stir in the Worcestershire and onion powder, then pour the mixture over the meat in the pan.

deer pot roast

Step 5: Place your lid on or cover the pan tightly with foil. Then cook at 250 degrees for 3 hours. At this point, check the deer meat and see if it is close to done. If not, return the lid and cook another 2-3 hours or until the roast is tender and can be pulled apart.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Expert Tip: The cook time varies depending on whether you use deer steaks or a large deer roast. A larger roast can take 6 hours or more to cook.

Storage

If you have leftovers, store your meat in an airtight container for 2-3 days. Then reheat as you would like, whether in the oven covered with foil or in the microwave.

What to Serve With Deer Roast

Here are a few of my favorite side dish recipes to pair with this venison roast recipe from the oven. Feel free to choose any side you prefer. Or toss in mini potatoes and carrots, and cook with the meat in the dish.

Expert Tips And Variations

  • Season your meat with any of your favorite herbs and spices. This will make the meat the standout flavor in the dish.
  • Searing the meat will create a crust and dimension to the roast that you won’t get otherwise. I recommend not skipping the sear step. If you do, the venison roast will lack flavor.
  • Toss in mini potatoes and sliced carrots and cook with the meat for a whole dinner.
  • I prefer using a Dutch oven when cooking deer but feel free to use any covered dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2- 3 pounds venison roast backstrap, steak or roast
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons steak seasoning – Or Onion Soup Mix 1 tablespoon per pound of meat
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce

Instructions

  • Dry your deer meat with paper towels and then season liberally on all sides of the venison meat.
  • Add oil to a skillet or Dutch Oven and heat on medium-high heat. Sear the venison on all sides 3-4 minutes. You want to create a nice crust on the meat.
  • Place meat in the Dutch oven or baking dish. Then toss in the chopped onions and garlic. Stir for a minute or two.
  • Then pour in the beef broth and scrape the bottom of the pan to remove any stuck on bits.
  • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and onion powder. Mix well and pour over the venison.
  • Cook at 250 degrees for 3 hours, and then remove the deer roast to check doneness. If still needs a bit return to the oven and cook another 2 1/2 – 3 hours or until the venison is done.
  • The venison is fully cooked when it reaches  130° to 140° F. This depends on how done you want your meat to be. Shred venison with meat claws or two forks. Then serve with any of your favorite sides.

Notes

Cook Time – You will find that your cook time varies depending on how large or small your venison is. If you use a larger cut of meat, it will take longer. I used 3 strips which took less time.
Remove Gamey Flavor – Soak your venison in buttermilk overnight to help pull out the blood to reduce the gamey flavor of the meat if you prefer.
Cover The Dish – Make sure to cover the dish tightly with foil or place a lid on the pan when it cooks in the oven. Otherwise, your venison meat will dry out otherwise.
Make Gravy For Roast – Remove meat and pour the liquid into a pan to place on the stove. Bring mixture to a boil. Then add 1 tablespoon cornstarch in a bowl with 2 tablespoons cold water. Mix well and pour in the broth mixture. Stir and it will thicken and create a gravy.

The best steak rub is below. This copycat Longhorn Steak seasoning recipe gives you your favorite steak at home. Steaks never tasted so good at home with this dry rub recipe. The cornstarch and brown sugar create a crispy crust on the steak that locks in tons of flavor. Bold flavor is what you will get in this signature blend of spices.

steak sliced in half on plate with fork and potatoes

What I love about this steak dry rub is that it requires only a few ingredients. Rub all over the steaks, cover, and place in the fridge to marinate for a bit. This Longhorn Steakhouse Grill Seasoning is a perfect blend of flavors with a hint of sweetness from the brown sugar.

Reasons to Make This Longhorn Steak Rub

  • This recipe is a good steak blend for all cuts of steak.
  • You get a tender steak as you allow the rub to soak into the meat. It will help tenderize and flavor for a fantastic steak.
  • You can easily adapt the recipe to make enough seasoning for more steaks or keep it a minimal blend and use it for a pound of steak instead.
  • Kids and adults will both enjoy this recipe.

We use this dry steak rub every time we cook steaks. It is our go-to rub. It’s a no-fail recipe that seasons your steak perfectly. We toss our seasoned steaks on our Green Mountain Pellet Grill.

Let them sizzle and soak in the smoke for the ultimate beef steaks at home. The char seasoning is great for gas, charcoal, or even pellet grills, like I did. Feel free to make this bold blend.

What Seasonings To Use For Dry Steak Rub

How to Make

Complete directions for this Longhorn Steak seasoning are in the recipe card below, along with measurements.

Grab your measuring spoons and spices and create your dry rub in a bowl. Mix it all up, and then liberally season all sides on the steaks.

I then place the steaks on aluminum foil and tightly wrap them. I allow the steaks to sit in the fridge to soak up all the seasonings.

How Many Steaks Can You Season With This Recipe

2-4 steaks, depending on the size, are what you will get out of this dry rub steak recipe.

I cooked up two large ribeye steaks and used all the dry rub on the steaks.

While it looks like a lot of rub mix, you want to pack on the mixture, pressing it into the meat. It adds an insane flavor to the steak.

So, every bite tastes better than ordering from your favorite restaurant.

Tips For Success

To be honest, this answer can vary. For dry rub on steaks, we do a minimum of 4 hours up to 12 hours.

The longer the rub sits on the steak, the more flavor it imparts. If you prefer, you can even let your steaks marinate with the dry rub overnight.

longhorn steak seasoning rubbed on large steaks on grill with man grates

Man Grates

We use these man grates on our pellet grill. They are made to help sear the steak. But also the design allows the smoke and juice that drips down to season the meat even more by the smoke it releases.

We have owned these for about 12 years, and they still work amazingly. We cook brats, burgers, steaks, and more on these grates.

If you enjoy grilling, you will find these man grates worth the investment. No special cleaning is required; just use your brush to clean them off before each use.

The more you cook, the more seasoned they become!

What Steaks Are Best For Grilling

  • Ribeyes
  • Kc Strips
  • Flat Iron Steaks
  • T-bones
  • Porterhouse

The list can go on and on. Reaching for a quality steak will give you that tender and flavorful steak you want.

When steaks are on the grill, we generally reach for KC strips or Ribeyes but feel free to use your favorite cut of meat.

What is available in your area will also depend on where you live. Pair your steak with this summer berry salad!

FAQs

What temperature to cook steaks on pellet grill?

The hotter, the better! I allow our grill to cook at 500 degrees and fully let it heat up and maintain the temperature for at least 5 minutes before I toss steaks on. You hear that sizzle as soon as you place your steaks on your hot pellet grill! This will help crisp up that dry rub on the outside while leaving you a juicy steak inside.

Can I reduce the salt in this recipe?

Of course. Go right ahead and do a 1/4 teaspoon of salt, or even less if you need. There is no need if you need to reduce sodium to use as much salt.

  • You can put all of the biscuits in a bowl and mix all of the ingredients together to coat each biscuit. I prefer the layers, but some people prefer it all mixed together.
  • Check the biscuits. Because of the way they are at the bottom layer of the pan, you’ll need to check them to make sure they are done before you stop cooking. No one wants raw biscuits!
  • Add other varieties of cheese for more flavor. A sprinkle of cheddar is tasty too!

How long can I leave food in a crockpot on low?

Most crockpot recipes cook on low for 6-8 hours. However, if you are cooking a larger cut of meat, like a roast, it can cook up to 10-12 hours. Follow the recipe to ensure you do not overcook your dish.

Can I use frozen meat in a crockpot?

It is not recommended that frozen meat be added to the crockpot. As it thaws before cooking, it will be at an unsafe temperature, which can cause potential bacteria growth. It is always recommended to thaw your meat first.

Juicy Blackstone Steak is a must-try! Beautifully seared steak drizzled with melted butter, garlic, and parsley, it is seasoned with Blackstone Steak Seasoning, salt, and pepper to make for an insanely flavorful steak! You get a perfect sear every single time you use your flat-top grill.

tbone steak with herbs and butter on a cutting board

The perfect steak lover recipe. Whip up this fat and juicy steak on the Blackstone Griddle! I love thicker cuts but any type of steak works great. You can use all cuts of steak: ribeye steaks, KC strips, filet mignon, New York, etc. Fire up the Blackstone grill and get to cooking.

Cooking steak on the Blackstone griddle is incredibly simple, delicious, and fast! With minimal steps and ingredients, you really can’t go wrong! This is an easy and great beginner’s flat-top griddle recipe. Check out my Longhorn Steak House seasoning for your steak, that is my go-to seasoning mix for steaks.

Reasons to Try This Blackstone Steak Recipe

  • Minimal effort is needed to make this recipe on your flat-top griddle.
  • Very few ingredients are required to make. You can flavor your steak anyway you would like.
  • Tastes like it was made in a restaurant. The key is to use quality cuts of steak so you get that tender and juicy beef.
  • You have enough room to cook for a crowd, as your Blackstone griddle grill has a large cook space.

How To Make Blackstone Steak

tbone steak on a blackstone grill

Turn on the Blackstone to medium-high heat. Once hot, add butter and let it melt. Any cut of steak works for this recipe. The better quality, the more tender the steak.

Place the steaks on the hot grill—season with Blackstone seasoning, salt, and pepper. Use Blackstone Steakhouse seasoning.

Combine the butter, garlic, and parsley in a heat-safe pan and place on the hot griddle. I have some individual-sized cast iron skillets that I LOVE for stuff like this! Melt the butter, garlic, and parsley in a pan.

Flip the steak after the first side has a good sear. Season the second side and begin to add melted garlic butter. Once cooked to your preference, remove from the Blackstone and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Serve and enjoy!Add garlic butter to the seared steak.

Serve with some fries and an ice-cold beer!

Variations To Recipe

  • Herbs – Flavor the steaks by using fresh herbs like rosemary, thyme, and more.
  • Seasonings—Any type of seasoning can be used to flavor your steaks. Garlic powder, cayenne, onion powder, kosher salt, chili powder, etc.
  • Fresh garlic cloves—You can crush and mince fresh garlic and mix it with the butter to make a garlic butter sauce to drizzle onto the steak.
  • Compound butter – You can use compound butter on top of your steak.

Blackstone Griddle Expert Tips

  • Room temperature—If time allows, start with room-temperature steak. It will cook more evenly and taste better, too!
  • Any steak works. We used T-bones because that is what we had. You could also do KC Strip, Ribeye, Filet Mignon, or anything else you like.
  • Skip the butter—If you aren’t a fan of garlic butter, it’s fine to omit it! Olive oil also works, or you can use your own concoction of seasonings and sauces.
  • Times will varyNo matter what steak you cook, the time will vary. It’s going to depend on how you want the steak. You can cook a medium, medium-rare, etc.

FAQs

Do I Need to Use Oil on the Blackstone Griddle for Cooking Steak?

Yes, you will want to add a small amount of oil to your grill and allow it to heat up. This is going to help ensure your steak does not stick to the griddle. You will add butter to flavor the steak.

Should I Let the Steak Rest After Cooking on a Blackstone Griddle?

Yes. You will want to allow the steak to rest for at least 5-10 minutes, to ensure the juices are locked in the steak.

Can I Marinate the Steak Before Cooking on a Blackstone Griddle?

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 steaks
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh parsley chopped
  • Blackstone Seasoning to taste
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Set the steak out at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking if time allows.
  • Preheat grill to medium high heat.
  • Add melted butter to coat Blackstone. Add steak and season with salt, pepper and Blackstone seasoning.
  • In a small pan, add butter, parsley and garlic. Place on the griddle and stir frequently.
  • Once fist side of steak is seared flip, season more and add melted butter. Cook until it reaches desired doneness. Serve. Let rest for 5 minutes, then serve. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Any steak works – We used T-bones because it is what we had. You could also do KC Strip, Ribeye, or Filet Mingon, or anything else you like.
  • Skip the butter – If you aren’t a fan of garlic butter, it’s fine to omit! Olive oil also works or you can use your own concoction of seasonings and sauces.
  • Times will vary – No matter what steak you cook, the time is going to vary some. It’s going to depend on how you want the steak. We like ours medium.

Flaky bread, ground beef, cabbage, and cheese create the Easiest Bierocks Recipe in the world! The secret is starting with frozen dinner rolls. This simple recipe is sure to be a family favorite.

Making homemade bierocks or runzas, as some people call them, doesn’t have to take all day! Our entire family goes wild for this bierocks recipe.

bierock in hand with half cut open showing the filling

BUT…I don’t love making the bread from scratch every time. I will do it on occasion, but it takes me all day. This is great on those days when I have tons of time. However, I wanted to find an easier and quicker way to give similar results.

I’m happy to report that using dinner rolls is faster, and the flavor will rock your world.

Why This Recipe Works

  • They are incredible and easy to make.
  • Easy and convenient for a simple dinner idea.
  • Faster than traditional recipes!
  • Crowd-Pleasing and family approved.
  • Simple to adjust ingredients to fit your taste buds.
  • Only six ingredients are needed! Budget-friendly.
frozen rolls on a baking sheet, slices of cheese on plate, and bowl of meat mixture to the side

Ingredients

  • Bag of Frozen Dinner Rolls – I used Rhodes Rolls
  • Ground beef
  • Sliced Cheese
  • Cabbage
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Butter (optional)

Helpful Supplies

You don’t need much to make this Bierocks recipe, but I find a few helpful items.

  • Large Skillet
  • Baking Sheets
  • Sharp Knife
  • Cutting Board

Directions

Place the dinner rolls on a greased baking sheet. To raise the dough, follow the directions on the roll package.

While the dough is rising, cook the ground beef. Once the meat is browned, add it to a large pan with the cabbage and 2 tablespoons of water. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste, and add a lid. Turn heat to low-medium. Stir every 5 minutes until the cabbage softens to the desired texture. This usually takes around 10-15 minutes, depending on your preference.

Take one dinner roll and carefully pull on it to flatten it out. Lay it down, add 1/2 – 1 slice of cheese, and fill it with 1/4 cup of filling.

Flatten out another dinner roll and place it on top of the first roll. Pinch the edges and put it on the greased baking sheet.

Bake for 20-22 minutes at 375 degrees. If they aren’t done, cook them a little longer.

Take them out of the oven, put a stick of butter on them, and add it to the top of each bierock.

 Variations to Recipe

Meat – You can use ground pork, turkey, or other ground meat to replace the beef.

Saurkraut—You can swap the shredded cabbage for sauerkraut if you like. I prefer cabbage, but I know some use jarred or bagged sauerkraut.

DoughIf you prefer, you can substitute homemade bread dough, crescent rolls, or biscuit dough. You could even make sourdough bierocks with some fresh sourdough.

Vegetarian—You can substitute ground beef for the cabbage mixture with sauteed mushrooms, onions, and other veggies.

Spicy: To make the filling carry a kick, add red pepper flakes, hot sauce, chili flakes, etc.

Tips For Making

  • Be sure to cook your ground beef thoroughly and allow the cabbage to wilt to your liking.
  • Working on a floured surface is helpful when spreading bread dough so it doesn’t stick to the counter.
  • You can brush rolls with an egg wash if you want the bierocks to get golden browner as they bake in the oven.
  • Do not overfill the dough. Only place it in the center of the dough, and leave the edges of the dough free of filling so it seals.
  • Press the edges of the dough together well so that the little pockets stay together as they bake.

Storing

Refrigerate: Store your bierocks in an airtight container in the fridge. They can be stored for 2-3 days in a sealed container. Then, reheat in the microwave or the oven.

Freezer: You can freeze the beef hot pockets. Wrap each in plastic or sandwich bags and place them in a freezer container. Freeze for 3-4 months. Then thaw in the fridge overnight or defrost straight from the freezer.

Ingredients

Chicken—For this recipe, you will want to use boneless, skinless chicken. You can use boneless chicken thighs or tenderloins and adjust the cooking time accordingly.

Oil – You can use olive, avocado, or canola oil.

Butter – Unsalted butter is what I used for this recipe.

Garlic – Reach for jarred minced garlic or freshly minced garlic.

Heavy Cream – Heavy cream will add a rich and creamy sauce to the dish.

Parmesan – Shredded parmesan cheese adds rich and tangy flavor to the chicken dish. This makes a flavorful parmesan sauce that stands out and provides rich flavor.

Seasonings – Chili flakes, Italian seasoning, basil leaves, and better-than-bullion chicken flavor. The bullion replaces chicken stock in this recipe.

Sundried Tomatoes – Reach for a jar and use it to add flavor to this dish.

How To Make Marry Me Chicken

searing chicken in a cast iron skillet

Heat olive oil and butter in a cast iron skillet until hot. Add the chicken and cook for 6-8 minutes on each side or until fully cooked. Remove chicken from the skillet and set it aside.

To prepare the sauce, add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add heavy cream, sun-dried tomatoes, Italian seasoning, chili flakes, and Better Than Bouillon Chicken flavor. Stir the ingredients well and let them cook for a few minutes.

Add Parmesan cheese to the sauce and stir until it melts. Once the cheese is melted, add the chicken to the skillet and cook for approximately 5 minutes to reheat it.

To serve, sprinkle extra Parmesan cheese and chopped basil leaves over the chicken and sauce. Pair with your favorite side dishes and enjoy.

Variations

  1. Swap chicken breasts with boneless skinless chicken thighs for a different texture and flavor.
  2. Add vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or broccoli to the sauce for extra nutrition and flavor.
  3. Use different types of cheese such as Gouda, Fontina, or Gruyere to switch up the flavor profile.
  4. Replace the heavy cream with coconut or almond milk to make the recipe dairy-free.
  5. Use fresh tomatoes instead of sun-dried tomatoes for a lighter and fresher taste.
  6. Add some white wine or chicken broth to the sauce for this Italian chicken recipe.
  7. Use herbs and spices like thyme, rosemary, or smoked paprika to add depth to the sauce.
  8. For a spicier version, increase the chili flakes or add some cayenne pepper.
  9. Make it a one-pan meal by adding cooked pasta or rice to the skillet and letting it simmer in the sauce.
  10. Grill or bake the chicken instead of pan-frying for a fun twist on this Italian chicken recipe.

Tips For Making

  • Trim your skinless chicken breasts or thighs. Remove any white pieces or fatty areas before you cook. If you use large chicken breasts, cook longer or cut them into smaller pieces.
  • Use a large pan to ensure that no chicken overlaps on the pan, or it can cause an uneven cook.
  • Use a wooden spoon to remove any brown bits stuck on the bottom of the pan to help remove the bits and add richness to the chicken dish.
  • I recommend using a meat thermometer to ensure you reach a proper internal temperature of 165 degrees.
  • Allow your chicken to rest for 5-10 minutes before plating and dishing up.
  • Make sure to allow time for the flavorful sauce to cook in the pan to become thicker and become a cream sauce. Allowing it to simmer a bit enriches the flavor and thickens it.
  • Allowing your chicken to get a golden brown color on the outside adds tons of flavor and texture to the dish.
