If you love crunchy snacks and pasta, this Air Fryer Crispy Tortellini is about to become your new favorite go-to recipe. Instead of boiling and serving tortellini the usual way, we’re breading and air frying these little pasta pillows until they’re golden, crisp, and irresistibly crunchy on the outside while staying soft and cheesy on the inside — all with far less oil than traditional frying.

Fried tortellini is delicious, but I wanted to eliminate the oil and create a “healthier” version to my favorite snack, appetizer, or even lunch option. Also, try my crunchy tortilla chips made in the air fryer. Serve with pizza sauce, marinara, or eat the seasoned tortellini alone.

Give this air-fried tortellini appetizer a try and enjoy. Great for holidays, parties, and of course, game day snack food. Place on a serving platter with some crisp vegetables, and your favorite dipping sauce, and serve up as a party appetizer. Or drizzle with a little sauce or olive oil and dive in.

Try out my Instant Pot Rigatoni for another delicious pasta dinner idea. This is made with Italian sausage and a creamy marinara sauce mixture.

This Air Fried Tortellini Is…

  • Battered
  • Air Fried
  • Crispy
  • Cheesy
  • Crunchy
  • Delicious

Ingredients and Variations

Tortellini – You can use fresh refrigerator tortellini or frozen for this recipe. I used classic cheese-stuffed tortellini, but feel free to buy whatever tortellini you want.

Bread Crumbs – I used seasoned bread crumbs to minimize the number of ingredients. But you can swap for plain and add in your favorite seasonings. Italian seasoning is another option to add to plain bread crumbs.

Egg – This is the wet mixture you will dip the pasta in, then dredge in the bread crumbs.

Oil – I used avocado oil to spritz the tortellini with. This will help to provide that golden crust you want.

Marinara – OPTIONAL but delicious.

Here is a visual walkthrough on how to make crispy air-fried tortellini. The full directions and ingredient measurements are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Step One: Preheat your air fryer as directed. I recommend preheating for 5 minutes to ensure the air fryer is nice and hot.

Step Two: Whisk eggs and place in a bowl, bread crumbs in another bowl and then work on dredging.

Step Three: Dip each tortellini pasta in the egg, followed by bread crumbs. Place in air fryer basket or tray.

Step Four: Air Fry, and spritz with oil if needed to help create a golden crust on the outside. I flip half way through the cook time and spritz the other side of the pasta.

Skip the fried appetizers and try this crispy tortellini recipe using your air fryer.

Garnish with fresh basil, parsley, additional seasoning, or even additional parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. I find a pop of fresh herbs helps to add color.

Pro Tips For Success

  • Place your tortellini in a single layer in your basket or air-fryer tray. Otherwise, they will not cook evenly.
  • Shake off excess egg and bread crumbs, making sure it isn’t too heavily coated, it can make a mess.
  • Place an air fryer parchment liner to help prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  • Air fry in batches if you want to make extra. Then keep the extras warm in the oven at 200 degrees, placed in a single layer on a lined baking sheet.

Storing Leftovers

Refrigerate: You can store any tortellini you don’t eat in the fridge for 3-5 days. They will become softer in texture once cooled down. But to get a crispy texture again, you can warm them back up in the air fryer for a few minutes.

Freezing: Feel free to freeze any of your tortellini for up to 3 months. Just place in a freezer bag or container that is freezer-approved. Thaw in the fridge and reheat or warm up straight from the freezer.

Instant Pot Lemon Poppy Seed Cake

Instant Pot lemon cake is one recipe I was dying to make. While I couldn’t find a recipe, I decided to create my own. This pressure cooker lemon cake is one you will make over and over again. Instant pot desserts are one of my favorite things to cook in my Instant Pot!

Moist Lemon Cake

Skip the lemon cake mix, and whip up a cake that is vibrant and full of lemon citrus flavor in each bite. This Instant Pot cake is super moist! Granted it is a thinner cake, but you could always make two cakes and make it a layered cake.

It packs tons of flavor, so I am fine with it being smaller. I used confectioner’s sugar and a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice to achieve the perfect lemon flavor, and I skipped the classic frosting on this cake.

Can I Make Cake In My Instant Pot

I hear this a lot, and the answer is yes! You can make a cake in your Instant Pot.

I will share how I made this recipe below, but also you can check out my Instant Pot Nutella Cake or my Instant pot chocolate cake as well!

What Is The Cake Setting On Instant Pot

I used the classic High-Pressure setting for making my cake in the Instant Pot. I baked this lemon cake for 25 minutes, then let it sit for 15 minutes with a natural release. Follow the cooking time, and make sure you seal your Instant Pot properly so it comes to pressure and cooks the cake.

You can easily grab a bundt cake and turn it into an Instant Pot lemon bundt cake, which will offer stunning presentation.

How To Make Instant Pot Lemon Poppy Seed Cake

Start by lining your Instant Pot Cake Pan with a piece of parchment paper on the bottom along with spritzing with cooking spray.

Then you will mix up your dry ingredients in one bowl, and mix wet ingredients in another. Incorporate the two, and then pour into a cake pan, and then pour 1/2 cup water into your pot.

Add your silicone sling and set the cake in, and seal and cook on high pressure for 25 minutes with a natural release for 15 minutes.

Allow to cool then mix up your lemon glaze and pour over the top of the cake!

Lemon Glaze For Lemon Poppy Seed Cake

I wanted to create a simple 2-ingredient lemon glaze. Powdered sugar and lemon juice are what you will use.

Create a creamy base, and then pour it over your decadent lemon poppyseed cake! It adds even more lemon flavor in each bite.

I added a bit of lemon zest on top for a pop of color and more lemon flavor.

How To Store Lemon Poppy Seed Cake With Lemon Glaze

You will want to store your leftover lemon cake with the lemon glaze in the fridge.

Your cake will store for 3-5 days. Of course, this cake-like any other flavor is best when served within the first few days.

If you don’t want to make the lemon glaze you are more than welcome to keep it off if you prefer.

  3. Pour in chicken stock and scrape the bottom of the Instant Pot. Then toss in your beans, pasta, parmesan rind, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper.
  4. Place lid on Instant Pot, cook 4 minutes on high pressure followed by a quick release.
  5. Remove lid and stir in the chopped kale and heavy cream. Let sit for 2-3 minutes to wilt the kale a bit.
  6. Serve with grated cheese and more red pepper flakes if you want.

Full directions and measurements for recipe are in the recipe card below.

Slow Cooker / Crock Pot Version (Set-and-Forget Comfort)

(Good for when you don’t have Instant Pot — or want to prep ahead.)

  • Sauté sausage, onion, garlic, and seasoning on the stove; then transfer to the slow cooker with broth, beans, parmesan rind, and seasonings. Cook on low 6–8 hours. About 30 minutes before serving, stir in pasta, kale and cream (or half-and-half).
  • This method creates deeper flavors from slow simmering — ideal for busy days when you want dinner waiting.

Easy Variations & Substitutions

  • Swap Italian sausage for ground pork, beef, chicken sausage, or go vegetarian (use veggie-friendly sausage or skip meat entirely).
  • Use kidney beans or a mix of beans for extra variety.
  • Swap chicken stock with vegetable or beef broth, depending on your taste or dietary preference.
  • For a tomato-rich version: add a can of diced tomatoes (drain or keep juices), or stir in a splash of crushed tomatoes. (This isn’t in the original — but many “Pasta e Fagioli” versions include tomatoes, which gives another flavor dimension.)
  • Lighter cream option: use half-and-half, whole milk, or omit altogether — the beans and broth keep it satisfying.

Storage, Reheating, and Meal Prep

Storage & reheating tips: After cooking and cooling, store in an airtight container. Keeps 3–4 days in fridge, or freeze for up to 2–3 months. When reheating, add a splash of broth or water, reheat gently, and whisk if cream has separated. (Many competitors skip or briefly mention storage — giving more detail can help your post stand out.)

Meal-prep guidance: This soup freezes well in individual portions — perfect for busy professionals, college students or empty nesters. Just thaw overnight or reheat gently on stove/microwave.

These Instant Pot Spare Ribs are one of our favorites. Fall off the bone tender bbq ribs that are bursting with flavor. I use a homemade dry rub to smear over all the rib meat, to marinade for optimal flavor. Instant Pot ribs are your new favorite recipe.

Love your Instant Pot? If you are like me, I have a few more recipes for you to try out. Instant Pot Coffee Creamer, Instant Pot Chicken recipe, or this Instant Pot rice pilaf. Try these spare ribs in the Instant Pot today.

I love how this method shrinks hours of smoking into under an hour of hands-on time — perfect for a weeknight that still feels like a treat

Pressure cooker ribs are so popular. With minimal work on your end, you can have ribs that are tender, juicy, and full of flavor.

I used my popular dry rub recipe, which you allow to marinade the pork to help add more flavor to the ribs.

Why You’ll Love It

Plus, you’ll get that beloved barbecue flavor even without firing up the smoker or spending all afternoon at the grill.

Tender – These are fork-tender ribs that fall right off the bone. It is a must-try recipe to help speed up the cooking time of ribs.

Flavorful – Now, these are not like ribs you cook on the grill. They are going to have a bit of a different flavor, but broiling in the oven after creates a sticky glaze on the outside which makes them insanely good.

Easy To Make – Simple and easy to make, with no significant steps. The most important step is prepping your pork ribs by trimming the fat.

Ingredients You Will Need

Pork Dry Rub – Now I used my own pork dry rib rub. You are welcome to buy a rub or make mine. My homemade pork rub has brown sugar, salt, pepper, chili powder, dry mustard, etc. The full ingredient list and measurements are below.

Ribs – I used spare pork ribs. You can swap with any cut of ribs you have.

Apple Cider Vinegar – Here is what will help tenderize your ribs but also add a nice tangy flavor to the meat.

Liquid Smoke – Liquid smoke is going to help give the ribs a smoky flavor without tossing it on the grill.

BBQ Sauce – We used a Kansas City blend BBQ sauce, but feel free to use any flavor of sauce you want.

What To Use for Dry Rub Ribs

  • brown sugar
  • pepper
  • kosher salt
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • chili powder
  • dry mustard
  • smoked paprika

This pork dry rub is great for these ribs or even a rib roast that you smoke. Then you use apple cider vinegar, liquid smoke, and water in the Instant Pot.

You can tenderize the meat with apple cider vinegar, and the liquid smoke helps to add a bit more flavoring to the ribs.

They are not as good as smoked ribs, but they are pretty close.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Start by working on your dry rub, and then set it aside. You will use this on your rack of ribs.
  2. Now trim and prep your pork. You can see how I prepped in the video. I worked on cutting fat, and pulled the silver skin off (removed the membrane) from the back of the ribs.

  1. Rub your dry rub on both sides of the ribs. Then wrap and allow to marinate for an hour in the fridge.
  2. Pour your water, apple cider vinegar, and liquid smoke into the Instant Pot. Then add in your trivet, place ribs, and pressure cook!

  1. Once the ribs are done, remove them, baste them with BBQ sauce, and then air fry or broil your BBQ ribs!

  1. Slice and serve up these sticky barbecue ribs. Instant Pot pork ribs are a game-changer!

Storing Leftovers

Store your leftover ribs in the fridge for a few days. Then, when you want to eat, eat cold or place it in the microwave to reheat.

If you want you can also cover in aluminum foil and then wrap tight and reheat in the oven! Heat till it is warm.

What to Serve With BBQ Pork Ribs

For a full bbq evening, don’t forget a crisp cold brew (or lemonade) and maybe skip the heavy sides and go with something light and bright to balance the rich ribs.

Ingredients

Pork Dry Rub

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instant Pot

  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 3-5 drops of liquid smoke
  • 1/2 cup bbq sauce
  • 1 Rack of Spare ribs can do up to 2

Instructions

  • Start by making your dry up. In a bowl add your brown sugar, pepper, salt, smoked paprika, chili powder, dry mustard, onion powder, garlic powder. Mix and set aside.
  • Now you will prep your spare ribs. Remove excess fat, cut off the membrane on the backside of ribs, and cut off the excess flap on ribs on back as well.
  • Once ribs are prepped you will use part of the rub on one side and then flip and massage the other part of rib rub on the other side of ribs. Wrap and then marinate in the fridge for up to an hour.
  • When ready to cook place the metal trivet in the Instant Pot, add in 1 1/2 cup water, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, and 3-5 drops of liquid smoke.
  • Put your ribs in meat facing out, so the bones will face inward. Try to set them up on the metal rack. Mine spare ribs were a bit too big so I did have to push them in the water a bit.
  • Place Instant Pot lid on in sealing position making sure the valve is closed.
  • Pressure cook 35 minutes with a natural release of 15 minutes.
  • Remove ribs from the pressure cooker, and place on air fryer rack in duo crisp or a pan to broil in the oven.
  • Baste ribs with barbecue sauce, and then air fry to make sauce sticky or toss in the oven on broil. This takes just a couple of minutes to do.
  • Remove, slice, and serve these Instant Pot bbq pork ribs. I sprinkled mine with parsley and served.

Notes

Baby Back Rib Directions: If you are cooking baby back ribs – pressure cook for 5 minutes with a 15-minute natural release.
Seasoning Ribs – You truly can use any flavor of dry rub you would like. Feel free to make your own or buy a rub if you don’t want to use the one I made above.
Broiling Ribs – At the end I broil the ribs after I smear on some sauce, this is going to create a sticky glaze on the pressure cooked pork ribs. Otherwise, they will lack a bit of flavor and texture.

Ninja Foodi Corned Beef and Cabbage is the perfect St. Patrick’s Day meal to serve up a crowd or your family. Corned beef and cabbage is so easy in the Foodi. The Ninja Foodi is the easiest way to get perfectly cooked corned beef brisket every time. Why make this corned beef in Ninja Foodi…

Time-Saving: The Ninja Foodi is a multi-functional kitchen appliance that combines the functions of a pressure cooker, air fryer, and slow cooker, which allows you to cook corned beef in less time than traditional methods. The pressure cooking function of the Ninja Foodi can cook the beef brisket in a fraction of the time it would take to cook in a slow cooker or on the stovetop.

Even Cooking: The Ninja Foodi cooks food evenly, thanks to its unique heating and ventilation system. This means that the corned beef will be cooked evenly throughout, with no hot or cold spots.

Convenience: The Ninja Foodi is a versatile kitchen appliance that can be used to cook a variety of dishes. This means that you can use it to cook the corned beef brisket and other side dishes at the same time, which makes it a convenient option for busy families or those who want to save time in the kitchen.

Flavorful: The pressure cooking function of the Ninja Foodi helps to seal in the flavors and juices of the corned beef brisket, resulting in a tender and flavorful dish. Additionally, the air frying function can be used to crisp up the top of the corned beef, adding a delicious crunchy texture to the dish.

Ingredients Needed

  • Chicken Stock: The chicken stock adds richness and depth of flavor to the dish, which enhances the overall taste of the corned beef brisket.
  • Balsamic Vinegar: The balsamic vinegar provides a tangy and slightly sweet taste, which complements the saltiness of the corned beef and balances the overall flavor of the dish.
  • Onion and Garlic: The onion and garlic add a savory flavor and aroma to the dish, which enhances the taste of the beef and adds depth to the flavor.
  • Thyme and Bay Leaves: Thyme and bay leaves are aromatic herbs that provide a unique flavor to the dish. They also help to balance the richness of the beef and add a layer of complexity to the overall flavor.
  • Gold Baby Potatoes: The gold baby potatoes add a nice texture to the dish and help to soak up the flavors of the other ingredients. They also provide a natural sweetness that complements the savory flavors of the dish.
  • Carrots: Carrots add a sweet and earthy flavor to the dish, which complements the beef and provides a contrasting texture to the other ingredients.
  • Green Cabbage: The green cabbage adds a fresh and crisp flavor to the dish, which helps to balance the overall richness and heaviness of the other ingredients.
  • Brown Sugar: Brown sugar adds a subtle sweetness to the dish, which balances the other flavors and enhances the natural sweetness of the vegetables.
  • Dijon Mustard: Dijon mustard adds a tangy and slightly spicy flavor to the dish, which helps to cut through the richness of the beef and adds a layer of complexity to the overall flavor. It also helps to balance the sweetness of the brown sugar.

How to Make

Full directions on how to make this Ninja Foodi corned beef and cabbage are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.

corned beef brisket with seasoning on top in a Ninja Foodi
  1. Start by placing the corned beef in the Ninja Foodi, fat side down. Then you will add in the seasoning packet that came with the corned beef.
  2. Pour in the stock, vinegar, onion, garlic, thyme and the bay leaves. Place the lid on the Ninja, and make sure the valve is set to sealing.
  3. Select manual pressure cook and set the time for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Press the start/stop button to start cooking. Once the time is up, allow it to naturally release pressure for 10 minutes, then do a quick release to push off extra pressure.
  4. Now you will open the lid and remove the brisket, and the garlic and bay leaves.
  5. Add the yellow or red potatoes, carrots, and cabbage to the Ninja Foodi pot with the liquid. Place the lid on the Ninja and set the valve to sealing.
  6. Pressure cook for 3 minutes, and quickly release when done.
  7. For the glaze, you will mix the brown sugar and water in a pan, on medium-high heat. Once it boils, stir in the mustard and let it cook for 2-3 minutes to reduce to a thicker texture.
  8. Place corned beef on top of the vegetables once the veggies are done. Then pour the glaze over the brisket.
  9. Get the crisping lid and place it on top, and then use the air crisp feature for 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

Expert Tip: Let the brisket rest for 15 minutes once it is done, and cut against the grain. If you don’t do this you will get long fibrous strands that will make your meat tough to eat. Serve with the cabbage, carrots, and potatoes.

Storing Leftovers

Refrigerate

If you have leftovers you will be able to store the corned beef and the veggies in the fridge for 3-4 days. You will find the cabbage is best eaten right away.

As it cools and is stored in the fridge it becomes even soggier. We tend to throw away any cabbage we don’t eat that night.

Freezing

Yes, you can freeze corned beef and cabbage. However, it’s important to keep in mind that the texture of the vegetables may change after freezing and thawing, and they may become a bit mushy.

To freeze corned beef and cabbage, first, let the dish cool down to room temperature. Then, transfer it to an airtight container or a freezer bag, making sure to remove as much air as possible. Label the container with the date and contents, and place it in the freezer.

When you’re ready to eat the frozen corned beef and cabbage, thaw it in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight. You can reheat the dish in the oven or on the stovetop, stirring occasionally until it’s heated through. It’s important to ensure that the dish reaches an internal temperature of at least 165°F (74°C) to ensure food safety.

FAQs

Can I cook the corned beef and cabbage all at once?

You will start by cooking your corned beef first, then after so long you will add in your veggies and cook them.
If you cooked the vegetables as long as you do the corned beef you would end up with mush.

What cut of meat do you buy for corned beef?

Because you are cooking in the Ninja Foodi you can reach for either cut of brisket. Flat or Point they both are great. Since you pressure cook it becomes extremely tender and juicy.

What is the best way to slice brisket?

You want to cut against the grain when you slice corned beef. Brisket is one of the toughest meat, and you want to ensure it is tender by slicing correctly.

What is the difference between a natural release and a quick release?

Natural release is where when the cooking time on the pressure cooker is done, you allow it to sit, and the pressure inside will slowly release on its own. This takes around 10-20 minutes depending on what is inside. A quick release is where you take a wooden spoon and press the valve to force the pressure (steam) out of the pressure cooker and open the lid quickly. When you work with an electric pressure cooker a natural release is typical for meats to help make a tough cut of meat tenderize. Then it will be fork tender.  Whereas if you quick release it can leave the meat dry and tough.

I put a glaze on corned beef to add incredible texture and flavor. Dijon Mustard, brown sugar, and water are all you need to get that rich crust that is so flavorful.

Do You Eat Rice Pudding Hot Or Cold

You can eat rice pudding hot or cold. It is all about your personal preference. We love to pair with a cinnamon stick and some whole milk for thinning it out a bit if you don’t want it as thick.

We tend to eat it warm when it is first cooked, and then toss it in the fridge for later. Then when we spoon it out once chilled, we just eat it cold.

How to Make

Full steps are in the printable recipe card below on how to use mason jars and the Instant Pot for coloring Easter eggs.

adding food coloring into a mason jar

Dying Easter Eggs with food coloring is easy when the pressure cooker is involved. Cook and dye the eggs at the same time.

Step 1: Start by adding vinegar into each mason jar. Then squirt in the food coloring and stir well till mixed. Add as much or as little of coloring.

I did a good amount as I wanted my dyed Easter eggs to be bolder in color.

Step 2: Add in 2-3 eggs per jar or however many you can fit.

eggs in mason jars with food coloring

Step 3: Place eggs in Instant Pot on a trivet. Pour water into each mason jar till the eggs are covered. Then add 1 1/2 cups water into the Instant Pot.

Step 4: Place the lid on the Instant Pot and cook on high pressure for 5 minutes on manual high pressure, with a natural pressure release.

Step 5: Remove the pressure cooker lid, and carefully remove eggs from each jar. Let them cool and then you have colorful Easter eggs to hide for an egg hunt.

Storing Eggs

You can store these eggs in an airtight container in the refrigerator. If you place them in an ice bath to cool down from being cooked, just know some of the coloring will wash off.

The color will be more pastel than vibrant. But it is up to you if you want to do an ice water bath or not.

Expert Tips and Variations

Here are some tips and tricks to set you up for success with this coloring easter eggs with food dye recipe.

  • Use liquid food coloring. I just didn’t have any and that is why I used gel. I think the liquid would offer an even coating.
  • Make as many or as few as you would like.
  • Use a larger pan or bowl to place in the pressure cooker to color one color of the egg.
  • Make sure the water covers all of the eggs. I had just a tiny tip in a few sticking out and that was okay.
  • Use a Negg for easy pealing of your hard-boiled eggs!

  • Place on a paper towel to dry. Then refrigerate the eggs until you are ready to use them.

Notes

Ice Bath: Doing an ice bath with the eggs will remove some of the colorings of the eggs. It is up to you if you do that or not.
Edible: You can eat these hard-boiled eggs. Just store in the fridge until you are ready to put it out on display.
Food Coloring: You can use liquid food coloring as well, it would do great. I just didn't have any at the time I made these.

Cooking turkey doesn’t have to be hard. This Instant Pot turkey breast recipe is crazy simple. Seasoned turkey that is pressure cooked to perfection. A simple pressure cooker turkey recipe you will want to try.

Slice and serve up a juicy turkey breast for your weeknight dinner or a small holiday gathering. This can also be a Ninja Foodi turkey breast recipe, that you use the air fryer lid to crisp it up once cooked.

Pair your turkey with Instant Pot gouda mashed potatoes, Arkansas green beans, or try my rainbow bean salad.

This Turkey Breast Instant Pot Recipe Is…

  • Naturally Gluten Free
  • Easy To Make
  • Juicy
  • Flavorful
  • Instant Pot Or Ninja Foodi Turkey Breast Recipe
  • Minimal Prep Work

Ingredients Needed

Turkey Breast – I did use a skin on and bone in turkey breast for this recipe.

Water – You could also use a broth instead of water for added flavoring.

Salt and Pepper – to taste

Butter – Salted or unsalted works

Oil

Chili Powder – Adds a nice kick of flavor to the turkey meat.

Poultry Seasoning – This worked great but you are welcome to swap it out with your own seasoning mix.

Tips For Making Turkey In Instant Pot

You do need to sear the turkey skin before pressure cooking, otherwise the skin will not have the right texture. It will be rubbery, and not cooked the way you want.

Make sure to allow 10-15 minutes for the pressure cooker to come to pressure before it begins cooking. Many forget to factor that in with the cooking time.

Depending on the size of your turkey, the cook time will vary slightly.

Save back the liquid to use as a broth for a future recipe, or have it be the base to a gravy. If you plan to make into a gravy I recommend a chicken or vegetable stock, not water used.

How to Make

Full directions on how to make Instant Pot turkey breast is in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a visual walk through on how to make.

collage on how to make turkey breast in pressure cooker

Step One: Start by adding oil into the Instant Pot and select the saute feature, and let it heat up.

Step Two: While the oil is heating up, seasoning your turkey breast. Rub the whole breast with butter, and then season with salt, pepper, poultry seasoning and chili powder. Coat all sides.

Step Three: Place the breast skin side down in the Instant Pot. Sear 3-4 minutes on both sides.

Step Four: Next turn off the saute feature, and pour your water in. Then deglaze the pan with a wooden spoon.

Step Five: Place your trivet in the Instant Pot. Next place the turkey breast on top of the trivet so it is not submerged in the water.

Step Six: Next you will secure on the lid, and make sure the valve is set to sealing. Pressure cook on the poultry setting for 7 minutes per pound of turkey. So I did 14 minutes for my 2 pound turkey breast.

Step Seven: Next allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure for 10 minutes. Then release off any extra pressure and open the Instant Pot.

Step Eight: You can broil your turkey breast in the oven for 1-2 minutes to crisp the skin more if you would like. Or slice and serve as is.

Storing Turkey Leftover

Feel free to store any leftover turkey in an airtight container or bag. Then you can use the leftover meat for making sandwiches, tossing in casseroles, or simply reheating and eating as leftovers.

The turkey will store for 3-4 days in the fridge when stored at the proper temperature.

In terms of freezing it can freeze for 3-5 months. You can freeze in a freezer bag, vacuum sealed bag or container. Then thaw in the fridge overnight when you want to use it.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2-3 pound turkey breast bone in skin on
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened
  • 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 cup water or chicken broth

Instructions

  • The first step is to add oil into the Instant Pot and select the saute feature. Let the oil get hot.
  • As the oil is heating up, slather the softened butter on all sides of the turkey. Then you will add on the poultry seasoning, chili powder, and salt and pepper.
  • Sear the turkey skin side down first, for 3-4 minutes. Then flip and sear the other side for 2-4 minutes.
  • Remove turkey and set to the side. Turn the saute feature off.
  • Add water or broth into the Instant Pot, and use a wooden spoon to deglaze the pressure cooker pot. Use the spoon to scrape up any stuck on bits, as this will cause a burn notice.
  • Once pot is cleaned on bottom place trivet in the Instant Pot, and set the turkey breast on the trivet so the turkey is out of the water.
  • Place your pressure cooker lid on, making sure it is sealed and valve is set to sealed as well.
  • Pressure cook for 7 minutes per pound. My 2 pound turkey I cook for 14 minutes. Do the 14 minutes on the poultry button, and allow the pressure cooker to natural release for 10-15 minutes.
  • After it is done with natural release, press off any extra pressure, by pushing the nozzle on the lid. Then carefully open, and remove the turkey. Let it set for 10 minutes.
  • You can place turkey in oven under broiler for 1-2 minutes to crisp up the skin if you would like.
  • Once done, slice and serve up this juicy Instant Pot turkey breast.

Notes

Internal Temperature – You need the internal temperature to read 170 degrees in the breast. Make sure to not touch the bone as it will give a false reading.
Cook Time – 7 minutes per pound of turkey. So a 3 pound turkey breast will be 21 minutes. A 2 pound breast will cook for 14 minutes.
Resting – Allow the turkey to rest 10 minutes once cooked to lock in juices. Otherwise it can dry out your turkey.

Italian Easter Bread is a sweet Italian Easter bread that offers a stunning presentation. A tender sweet bread with a colorful Easter egg center. I used my Instant Pot for proofing the bread dough, but this is optional.

This is also known as Easter egg bread! Whatever you call this sweet bread recipe, you will devour it. You can proof the dough on the counter and skip the Instant Pot if you prefer for proofing. I just find the IP speeds up the rising of the bread.

easter bread

I used my Instant Pot to speed up the process of proofing my Italian Easter bread

It worked amazing, but if you don’t own a pressure cooker proof your bread the old fashioned way!

This bread is similar to challah egg bread.

Italian Easter Bread Recipe

What Is Easter Bread?

Easter bread with the colorful and bright egg center uses yeast to allow for the raised dough. I used an active dry yeast for this recipe.

This bread is a very easy Easter bread recipe, that you can make. It is a very traditional bread. I have more Easter recipes if you are interested.

Ingredients Needed

  • Unsalted Butter
  • Milk
  • All Purpose Flour
  • Active Dry Yeast
  • Salt
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Eggs
  • Dyed Easter Eggs
  • Poppyseeds (optional)

How Do You Shape Easter Bread Rings

I made 3 Easter rings out of my dough and one extra mini one for my son. Shaping your Italian Bread is easy.

After you work over the dough you will cut into 6-8 equal pieces. Then roll out each piece of dough to let it stretch a bit.

Think of it like rolling a big snake out of play-doh. Once you have 2 pieces of bread dough the same length you pinch one end together and then twist the dough.

Once it is fully twisted make a circle. Then place your colored egg in the center.

Decorating Easter Italian Bread

For this recipe of Italian bread I reached for poppy seeds. I wanted a very simple look to add a slight pop of color.

Now many recipes you find will use colored sprinkles and some even drizzle on a powdered sugar glaze for added sweetness like a cinnamon roll

Storing

This bread can store at room temperature for a few hours, or refrigerate. The egg will spoil if left out for more than two hours at a time.

Freezing – This bread will freeze if you don’t want to eat it. I just recommend removing the egg before freezing. Then place in a proper container and freeze for 3-4 months. Thaw on the counter or warm in oven or microwave.

FAQs

Do I need an Instant Pot for this recipe?

No, you don’t have to have an instant pot to use this recipe. It will just take a bit longer to allow your dough to rise.
The instant pot when used in the yogurt setting helps to speed up the rising process of the dough. It shaved off sometime but you don’t have to have it.

Are the eggs in the center of Easter bread hard boiled?

If you don’t cook the eggs in the center of the Easter bread in advance, you will find it offers a medium-hard texture.
Now if you want a hard-boiled egg, you can pre-cook eggs to hard-boiled and then use. It will slightly overcook the eggs. So I tend to do the medium-hard eggs.

Do you eat the eggs in Italian Easter bread?

You can eat the eggs if you would like. If you choose to eat the eggs you need to eat them when fresh off the cooked bread.
Otherwise, you run the risk of getting sick from eating an egg that has sat out too long.

Can you proof bread dough in the Instant Pot without yogurt setting?

Unfortunately, you need the warm setting of the yogurt setting. Using the warm on the saute mode will get too hot and ruin your dough.
So for proofing the dough in the Instant Pot you do need the yogurt setting.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter cubed
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 4 cups all purpose flour + extra for rolling out
  • 3 dyed Easter eggs can be raw or hard boiled

Egg Wash

  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 teaspoon water

Toppings

  • Poppyseeds
  • or sprinkles

Instructions

  • The first thing you want to do is pour your milk and diced butter into a microwave safe container, and heat until it reaches 105 degrees. I did 30 second intervals.
  • In a larger bowl you will add your sugar, salt, and active dry yeast. Once the milk mixture reaches the right temperature, pour into the sugar mixture, do a quick stir and let sit 5 minutes.
  • You want to see the yeast begin to foam. This means your yeast is active, and it worked. If it doesn’t bubble up, your yeast is dead and it won’t work.
  • Once yeast is active you will begin to slowly add in some of your flour and mix. And then add in your beaten 2 eggs, and finish off with the flour.
  • When my dough seems pretty mixed and formed and slightly sticky to the touch, I then place the Easter sweet bread dough in a parchment-lined inner Instant Pot pan.
  • I turn the yogurt setting on for 30 minutes. Place a glass lid on top of the Instant Pot.
  • Once your dough has doubled in size, lay out on a floured surface. I then knead the bread a bit to remove any sticky texture left on the sweet bread dough.
  • Form into a rectangle and slice 6-8 lines of dough. Then roll out each dough like a snake and then pinch two pieces of the dough together and twist all the way down. You can see how I did it in my video.
  • Once twisted, roll into a circle and then lay out on a parchment lined baking pan.
  • Mix up your egg and water for the egg wash and brush onto the dough, followed by a sprinkle of poppyseeds or even sprinkles. Gently place the colored Easter egg in the center of the rolled up bread. Do not push it down or it will sink.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake 15-18 minutes or until the bread is fully cooked through. If you use raw eggs, they will come out medium-hard texture if you eat them.
  • Remove the cooked bread from the pan immediately and place on a cooling rack.
  • Slice or pull apart and enjoy.

Notes

If you don't want to make into circle rings you can cook in a big loaf as well.
Each Easter bread ring can serve 6 people.

No Instant Pot Method:

If you don't want to proof the dough in the Instant Pot just follow the directions above. Then place dough in a bowl and cover for 1 hour. And then return to the steps as directed.
Topping: Feel free to skip the poppyseeds and swap with sprinkles.

Looking for a tasty side dish to pair with dinner this week? If so try out my Instant Pot corn on the cob. It is a quick and easy way to cook ears of corn in your pressure cooker. This fresh corn on cob recipe is sweet, juicy, and perfectly cooked corn.

All your need is corn and water to make this Instant Pot corn recipe. So grab those ears of corn and get to cooking. Pair your corn with some slow cooker bbq chicken legs.

I love cooking sweet corn in our Instant Pot or even Ninja Foodi. It is a perfect side dish for a summer cookout or weeknight dinner that the whole family enjoys.

This Instant Pot Corn On Cob Recipe Is…

  • Quick and Easy pressure cooker corn on the cob
  • Plump Kernels
  • Fresh Flavor
  • Juicy
  • Sweet Corn
  • Simple Side Dish
corn on the cob and bowl of water with towel by it

Ingredients

Here is all you need for this corn on the cob in instant pot!

Corn on Cob – You can use fresh ears or frozen corn on the cob for this recipe. I find that frozen corn can kind of wilt down a bit in the kernels.

Water – I recommend using filtered water, we have an Reverse Osmosis that I used to help keep the water more pure.

Tools Needed

Instant Pot – I used a 6 quart Instant Pot, but feel free to use whatever size of pressure cooker you have. If your ears are too long, just cut them in half.

Steamer Basket – I used a steamer basket. You want to make sure your corn is out of the water.

How to Make

Full directions on how to make Instant Pot corn on the cob. This is a visual walk through for readers if they would like.

Step One: First place your steamer basket in the Instant Pot. Then place the corn in the basket.

pouring water over corn in Instant Pot

Step Two: Next pour in the water, and place the lid on the pressure cooker. Make sure the valve is set to sealing, and do high manual pressure.

Step Three: Lastly, pressure cook as directed, and then quick release pressure once done.

holding piece of corn in hand

Step Four: Once all the pressure is done, open the lid, and carefully remove the corn.

Pro Tips For Success

  • Cut corn into half and place in basket if you have larger corn on the cobs.
  • I used a steamer basket, but you can use any insert that keeps the corn out of the water. If the corn touches the bottom it will sog up a bit.
  • Also, overcooking the corn will either cause the kernels to become mushy or hard depending on how overcooked you make the corn.

Corn on the cob can be grilled, boiled, microwaved, pressure cooked, or even roasted! This is my pressure cooker version.

How to Pick Corn At The Store

Husks – Reach for bright colored husks as that shows they are freshly picked. If you buy brown husks that means the corn has been there for a bit and is getting old.

Corn Silks – The hair like silks you see in the corn can be a good indicator on the corn you are buying. The more silk you see the better. It will be a golden color and a bit sticky to the touch.

Stems – Look at the bottom of where the corn was cut from the plant. You will find if it is still moist that means your corn is fresh still. If you find it is brown on bottom, just like the husks the corn is older.

Kernels – You will find many stores allow you to pull back the husks to look at the corn you are going to buy. Look for plump evenly sized kernels. If they are wilted that means that part of the kernel is inedible and will need to be cut out.

Ways To Dress Up Corn

Not sure how to serve up your corn? Here are tasty toppings you can pair with your corn to transform the flavor.

  • Butter
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Garlic butter and Parmesan
  • Shredded cheese
  • Bacon crumbles
  • Cotija cheese
  • Creole Seasoning or Old Bay Seasoning

Storing

Not sure how long does corn on the cob last in the fridge? If you happen to not eat all the corn you can store in a container in the fridge for 1-3 days. You will find your corn is best served fresh.

This Cacio e Pepe Pasta Is…

  • 4 Ingredient Spaghetti

  • Easy
  • Quick
  • Affordable
  • Cheesy Pasta

Ingredients You Will Need

Pasta – I used spaghetti noodles but you could easily swap for a different type of pasta. Fettucine or even angel hair could be delicious.

Chicken Broth – If you are vegetarian you could use a vegetable broth. The broth adds a nice richness to the pasta that you won’t get with water.

Black Pepper – Fresh crushed pepper is going to really elevate the flavor.

Pecorino Romano Cheese – Pecorino Romano cheese is a sheep milk based Italian cheese that will truly transform the dish. This Italian pasta is delicious and I think this cheese really makes it a show stopper.

How to Make

Full directions for this authentic Cacio e Pepe recipe are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a visual walk-through for readers. Directions for pressure cooker and stovetop are in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Helpful Tips When Making Pasta

When mixing in the cheese do a bit at a time, to ensure the pasta gets well mixed to prevent spots not getting coated with cheese.

Make a crisscross pattern with the dry pasta to prevent it from sticking and clumping up in the pressure cooker.

Cook the pasta to al dente or your preferred texture.

This can be made on the stovetop, the full directions for that are in the printable recipe card.

Begin adding in the cheese right after it is done. Otherwise if the pasta cools too. I have it won’t melt the cheese.

Tongs work great at tossing and twisting the pasta as you mix it up.

For a lower carb option make this a spaghetti squash cacio e pepe. Simply swap the pasta out with a spaghetti squash for a twist on the recipe.

You can do a parmesan and pepper pasta, but it will taste a lot different by swapping out the cheese.

Storing Leftovers

Refrigerate any pasta that you do not eat right away. Place in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 4 days. Then warm up in the microwave as you would like.

I find that storing pasta in a glass container with a lid helps prevent the pasta from soaking in any odors stuck in the plastic container.

Try out my copycat Olive Garden breadsticks and let me know in the comments what you think. These are a tasty garlic brushed breadstick that is soft, tender, and finger licking good.

Why Make Olive Garden Breadsticks At Home

  • Homemade – you control ingredients used.
  • Dare I say better than Olive Garden
  • Leftovers for the next day
  • Freezer Friendly

Ingredients Needed

Active Dry Yeast – You will use yeast for getting the dough to rise. I use active dry yeast that I allow time for it to proof to ensure it is going to work.

Flour – Bread flour is what I used as it is a higher gluten content and will truly give your breadsticks a better texture. If you don’t have bread flour you can for sure use an all purpose flour.

Sugar – A little sugar is needed to feed the yeast and get it bubbling and activated.

Butter – You can use salted or unsalted butter. If you use salted butter omit the salt in the recipe.

Salt – This will help to level out and flavor your breadsticks.

Garlic Salt with Parsley – Now I buy a mix I sprinkle in, but you are welcome to grate fresh garlic and chop parsley to brush over the top of the breadsticks.

How To Make Olive Garden Breadsticks

Full steps on how to make Olive Garden breadsticks along with measurements are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a visual walk-through.

how to make olive garden breadsticks
  1. Proof your yeast
  2. Add flour and butter to your yeast mixture and work over the dough.
  3. Roll out on a floured surface and knead.
  4. Proof your dough on counter or in Instant Pot using yogurt setting.
  5. Roll out dough into a log.
  6. Shape breadsticks and allow it to rise again.
  7. Butter, and bake.
  8. Then brush with garlic salt butter and enjoy it!

Proofing Dough In Instant Pot

I love proofing my bread dough in the Instant Pot! If you have an Instant Pot with a yogurt setting you should try proofing your dough. It speeds up the process and is crazy simple.

If you don’t have an Instant Pot, just place in a greased pan and cover and allow it to double in size on the counter. Either route will work great.

The pressure cooker method just takes 30 minutes where the counter method takes an hour.

What To Serve Garlic Breadsticks With

Whether you do your favorite pasta recipe or soup, or even a classic salad. These breadsticks are literally melt in your mouth and they will work great with any of your favorite dishes.

Or make these garlic breadsticks as a snack to break up the day. I never say no to a carb-loaded guilty pleasure.

Tips For Making

  • You need to ensure your yeast bubbles up as you let it sit. If it doesn’t bubble it means the yeast is not active, and it won’t work.
  • I added extra flour to the recipe, but you might not use all the flour for the dough. You want it to be soft, and that it won’t stick to your hands.
  • If you overmix the dough it will become rubbery and not offer a light and fluffy breadstick.
  • Baking your breadsticks will vary. You just want to ensure the breadsticks are fully cooked. You can turn the broil on to brown up your breadsticks if you need.

Common Questions

Storing Leftovers

Refrigerate: Store any breadsticks you don’t eat leftover in the fridge for 2-3 days. I find anything more after that the bread becomes a lot drier.

Freezing: You can freeze these easy breadsticks for later on. Bake as directed and then allow the bread sticks to fully cool. Then transfer to a freezer container and then store for up to three months in the freezer.

Thaw on the counter or wrap in aluminum foil frozen and then warm up in a 325-degree oven.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water 105-110 degrees
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 3- 4 1/4 cup bread flour

Topping

  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt with parsley

Instructions

  • First, you want to take your warm water and add in yeast and sugar. Give a quick stir and let it sit 5-10 minutes for the yeast to bubble up and activate.
  • Pour the yeast mixture into a bowl. Now slowly add in some of your flour and stir.
  • Next pour in melted butter, and then add in more bread flour, along with salt. You may not use all the flour. You want the dough to form a ball and not be gummy or stick when you touch it.
  • Roll the dough onto a floured surface and knead the breadstick dough for 3 minutes.
  • Now form a ball and allow the dough to rise. Just cover in a greased bowl and let sit for around 1 hour on the counter. If your home is cooler it could take up to 2 hours to double in size.
  • Punch down risen dough, and lay out on the floured surface. Shape into a long log.
  • Cut into 18-20 pieces, and shape out your breadsticks and lay on a greased baking sheet. I had to use two pans.
  • Now cover and let rise another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Then bake your breadsticks for 8-13 minutes or until the breadsticks are done. You can brush the breadsticks with butter before they go in the oven if you would like.
  • Now in a bowl take your topping of melted butter and garlic salt with parsley. Mix and brush each breadstick with the mixture.
  • Serve these copycat Olive Garden Breadsticks warm paired alone or with your favorite main dish.

Notes

Proofing Dough in Instant Pot: I proofed my dough in the Instant Pot on the low yogurt setting, with a glass lid. If you don't have that simply cover in a bowl and let rise on the counter. The Instant Pot takes 30 minutes where the counter method will take an hour. This only works if you use the yogurt setting.
Garlic – I used a dry garlic salt with parsley, but you can use fresh garlic and parsley to mix and brush over the top of your breadsticks.

Once your meat is done, mix in the taco seasoning, stir well. Then pour in beans and tomatoes. Pour into an 8×8 pan, top with cheese, and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

How To Store Leftovers

If you have leftovers, just place in an airtight container. It will store in the fridge for up to three days. Then when you want some, just warm up in the microwave or reheat in the oven.

If you reheat in the oven make sure to cover with aluminum foil so it doesn’t dry out the mixture.

Can I Double This Recipe

Yes! You are welcome to double the recipe if you want to serve extra. You will keep the cooking time the same.

If you are cooking in the oven and double reach for a 9×13 size pan instead of 8×8.

Can You Freeze Leftovers

This is a freezer-friendly ground beef recipe. You can freeze your ground beef mixture with the beans and tomatoes. You will want to not freeze the corn chips, and the sour cream and other toppings.

Just take your ground beef mixture and store it in the appropriate container for up to three months. Thaw in the fridge overnight, and then warm-up. Top with chips, extra cheese, and all your favorite toppings.

Instant Pot Eggnog is the tastiest holiday homemade eggnog recipe to make for your friends and family. Eggnog is a traditional Christmas drink recipe to whip up for your holiday entertaining or late-night drink to sip on. Or make it an alcoholic drink and do bourbon or brandy eggnog!

Homemade eggnog is something I hadn’t ever tried, but I felt like this was the year. I ventured out and did eggnog in the Instant Pot and it was fantastic. Thick and creamy eggnog that is perfectly spiced.

Pressure cooker eggnog is a quick and easy way to get that homemade eggnog you grew up drinking. This is way better than store-bought and so simple to make. Serve warm fresh from the Instant Pot or allow to chill overnight in the fridge. Either way, you have an incredible holiday drink to serve.

How To Make Homemade Eggnog

  1. For making eggnog in the Instant Pot I started by turning my Instant Pot to saute, with water inside the pot with the trivet.
  2. Then in a bowl, you want to whisk up your eggs well, followed by the rest of the ingredients.
  3. Next, you will pour your mixture into a pan that you place in the Instant Pot. Whisk continuously, until it reaches 150 degrees.
  4. Then turn the Instant Pot to the warm setting, and continue to whisk till you reach 160 degrees. Remove from Instant Pot, and serve warm or chill!

Food Safe Temperature For Pasteurizing Eggnog

You need your eggnog to reach 160 degrees Fahrenheit for it to make it food safe to drink. This is key to ensure your mixture reaches proper temperature. I used a thermometer to monitor my temperature.

With the Instant Pot, you can easily whisk your mixture as it is rising in temperature. If you don’t continuously whisk it can scramble the eggs in the mixture. It is key to not go over the 160-degree mark.

How To Store Eggnog

Place your eggnog in a container that has a lid and store in the refrigerator. Then store in the refrigerator for up to three days. If you add in alcohol to your eggnog it will last up to five days.

The alcohol helps preserve the eggnog, but if you want it family-friendly leave the alcohol out.

Notes

Thickness - This is a thick and creamy drink. Now if you want to make it thinner you can use 1 or 2% milk instead of a whole milk.
Straining - Depending on what you want you can strain the eggnog or choose to drink it without. If you strain use a cheesecloth with a fine mesh strainer.
Storing Leftovers - Store your leftovers in the fridge and then drink leftovers cold or warm up on the stovetop or in the microwave. If you heat in the microwave do 20-30 seconds and then stir as needed.
Cinnamon - You can add less or more cinnamon to flavor your eggnog. I like to have a bit extra as it adds so much flavor.

Queso Ingredients

  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 can Rotel Chili Fixin
  • 2 tablespoons Taco Seasoning I used Ortega original
  • 32 oz of diced Velveeta cheese

Instructions

  • Turn your pressure cooker to saute and cook your beef with the oil. Make sure to scrape the bottom good to prevent sticking so you don’t get a burn notice when you cook.
  • Once the beef is no longer pink and fully cooked, add in your seasoning and Rotel and mix well.
  • Toss the diced Velveeta cheese on top, do not stir. The Velveeta needs to stay on top, or it will give burn notice.
  • Place lid on the Instant Pot and turn the valve to sealing. Pressure cook for 5 minutes, with a quick-release once completed.
  • Stir the mixture until cheese is melted, and then serve immediately!

  • If you can’t find Chili Fixin’ Rotel use regular Rotel (diced tomatoes with green chilis) and add in a tablespoon of chili powder.
  • Velveeta cheese is a must for this recipe. You can’t swap it out.
  • If you want leave the ground beef out and do a meatless queso dip.
  • You can use homemade taco seasoning to replace of store-bought

What Are The Best Apples To Use For Homemade Apple Pie Filling

I love using a variety. I reach for Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples. This blend gives you more depth and flavor to the filling. You have the sweet from the Honeycrisp and a tang from the Granny Smith, they compliment each other really well.

  • Granny Smith Apples | These apples are great for pie making and filling. They will give you a tarter flavor with mild sweetness.
  • Jonathon Apples | Another tart apple with a mild sweetness to it. This hardy apple will hold up well as it cooks.
  • Honeycrisp | A sweeter apple that is juicy and firm. This is a great one to use alone or blend with other apple varieties.
  • Fuji | A very popular variety when it comes to baking pies. A sweet apple that will give you a nice subtle sweetness to your filling.
  • Braeburn | Gives you a sweet and tart mixture to your pie. A very well-known apple for making pies that you will truly enjoy.

There are so many other varieties of apples that are great. Just make sure it is a firmer apple that will hold up as it cooks and breaks down.

Storage

Refrigerate: This pie filling will last 3-4 days in the fridge when stored in an airtight container. You will need to use your best judgment in terms of quality and when you feel you need to toss it out if you don’t eat it fast enough.

Freeze: You can place in an airtight container or sealable freezer bag and store in the freezer for up to two to three months. Thaw in the fridge the night before you plan to use it. This is a great apple pie filling to freeze for later.

How Do You Thicken Apple Pie Filling

You will remove 1/2 cup of liquid from the cooked apples, and mix in the cornstarch. Once it is blended, stir it in the rest of the filling and it will begin to thicken. The filling will thicken within a minute or two.

I used my Instant Pot to proof my roll dough. If you have an Instant Pot with the yogurt setting give it a try.

If not no worries you can proof the dough in a greased bowl on the counter. It just takes about 30 minutes to an hour longer to do the traditional rising of the yeast rolls.

How To Make Texas Roadhouse Rolls

Step 1: Start by working on your yeast mixture with the milk. Heat your milk to 105 degrees, and add a little sugar and yeast to allow it to bubble. This takes around 5 minutes.

Step 2: Once you have milk, water, butter, and a little sugar warm pour in the yeast and let sit. It needs to activate. It will bubble up.

Step 3: Now grab your stand mixer with a dough hook and get to mixing. Once the dough is formed I place in the pressure cooker to rise. This takes 30 minutes which shaved off some time.

Step 4: Punch down yeast roll dough and roll out on a floured surface. Cut, bake, butter, and devour.

How To Make Dough Rise

When working with yeast, it needs a warm environment. You will find these two methods are great for getting your dough to rise double in size.

Counter Methods for Dough

Once your dough is mixed up, take your dough ball and place it in a greased bowl.

Cover with a towel and let it sit for an hour. I find a warmer place in the home to let the dough rest.

Instant Pot Method For Dough

I use this method all the time. Simply mix up your dough as directed. Then place your dough ball in the bottom of the pot in your Instant Pot.

Now cover with a glass lid, and turn yogurt setting on. Make sure it is on low yogurt and let rise 30 minutes.

Storage

You can store these dinner rolls on the counter in an airtight container or sealable bag. Make sure that you store the cinnamon butter in the fridge, as it will store best that way.

Freezing Rolls – You can freeze these dinner rolls as well. Just allow to fully cool and then freeze for 3-4 months.

Reheating Rolls – Warm them up in the microwave. Thaw on the counter. Or wrap tightly in aluminum foil and heat in the oven. All methods work great.

Ingredients

Roadhouse Rolls

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar + 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 1/2 – 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter for buttering rolls after cooked

Cinnamon Butter

  • 1 stick of unsalted butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions

  • The first thing you will want to do is take a microwave safe bowl. Add in your milk, water, and dice up your 2 tablespoons of butter and put in the mixture.
  • Put in the microwave for 20-30 second increments. You will want to heat the mixture to 100-105 degrees F. Use a thermometer to ensure you reach the right temperature.
  • Once your mixture is warm, you will add in 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar, and your yeast. Sit the yeast mixture on the container, as it needs to rest for 5-10 minutes. Your yeast will begin to bubble, this is a great way to know your yeast is activated.
  • Once the yeast bubbles up then pour into your KitchenAid Stand Mixer. Put the dough hook on. Add in your sugar, egg, salt, and then slowly add in your flour. You won’t use all the flour possibly.
  • You want to make sure the dough forms a ball and is not sticky to the touch where it comes off on your hand. Add flour a little at a time so you don’t add too much and make your rolls dense.
  • Once it is ready layout on a floured surface and knead for a few minutes. Then place the dough ball to rise.
  • You can rise in a greased bowl on the counter for an hour or until it doubles in size. Or place in a greased Instant Pot with a glass lid. Then turn the yogurt setting on low for 30 minutes.
  • Take your risen dough and punch it down and then roll out. Fold the dough in half and slice into lines. Then cut into squares for the rolls.
  • Cover and let rise for 15 more minutes.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees. Bake 8-13 minutes or until the rolls are done. Depending on thickness will depend on how long it takes to cook.
  • Then melt the 1 tablespoon of butter and then spread on the cooked rolls with a silicone brush.
  • Now you can add all the ingredients for your cinnamon butter in a bowl or stand mixer. Whip it up until creamed and fully mixed.
  • Now serve up warm Texas Roadhouse rolls with cinnamon butter for dinner or any other occasion you might be craving them.

Notes

Bloom yeast: Make sure to allow your yeast to bloom. The milk needs to be 105-110 degrees so it allows yeast to bloom without killing it.
Double the Recipe: You can double this recipe, just batch cook the rolls.
Freezing Rolls: Freeze dinner rolls you don’t eat right away. Just store in the freezer for 3-4 months in an airtight container or freezer bag.
Warming Rolls Up: Warm up your Texas Roadhouse rolls by wrapping in aluminum foil and place in a 350 degree oven. Let it warm up for around 5-10 minutes. Remove and then serve with butter and enjoy, soft warm rolls!

Your tamales will store in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Make sure to store in an airtight container or bag.

For reheating, you will get a paper towel wet and ring out excess water. Wrap the paper towel around your corn husk tamale.

Place in the microwave and reheat them for 15-30 second increments. Then check and flip to ensure it is warmed through.

Repeat the reheating process until the leftover tamale is warmed.

You can honestly top your tamales however you would like. We tend to do just sauce, sour cream and cheese.

How Many Tamales Fit In Instant Pot

I was able to fit 10 in my 6-quart and 15 in my 8 quart instant pot. Now, depending on how big or small you make your tamales will affect how many fit in your inner pot.

You do not want to overstuff your inner pot as you want to allow the steam to evenly cook all your easy pork tamales.

  • 4 1/2 cups masa
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1.5 tablespoons salt
  • 1/2 cup water for instant pot
  • 2-3 cups warm water for masa mixture
  • 1 cup green chili sauce optional
  • 1 cup Cotija cheese optional
  • Other toppings

Instructions

  • Start by soaking your corn husks in water for 30 minutes. You need your corn husks to soften up a bit.
  • While the corn husks are soaking you will work on your masa recipe.
  • Start by melting your butter and then pour in the baking powder and salt in your bowl. Give it a mix.
  • Now take your masa and slowly mix it in. Once you have the masa mixed in, slowly add in your water. You might not use all the water.
  • You want your masa mixture to be like play doh. If you reach that texture then stop adding water to your mixture.
  • Now take your corn husks and drain them from the water.
  • Using the slick side of the corn husk lay it down and then spoon on a thin layer of masa.
  • Take your cooked shredded meat, I used pork carnitas meat. Add around a teaspoon or two of meat. Then fold one side over, followed by the other side, and fold up one end to hold the tamale in place.
  • Pour the 1/2 cup water in the pot liner, and then place your trivet or silicone sling inside.
  • Lay your tamales with the folded side of corn husk down, and stack them up.
  • You might have to cook in batches depending on how big your Instant Pot is.
  • Place instant pot lid on, ensure the valve is sealed. Cook on high pressure for 18 minutes followed by 10 minutes natural release.
  • Once you release any leftover pressure serve and enjoy your Instant Pot tamales.
  • I topped my pork tamales with a green chili sauce, and cotija cheese.

Notes

Toppings: Top with your favorite tamale toppings. I love using Cotija cheese or a Mexican crumbling cheese, Green chili sauce, cilantro, etc.
Variation of Filling: You can do a meatless tamale if you want. Or use shredded chicken, beef, or pork like I did.
Double Recipe: Make as many as you would like. If need batch cook your tamales.

FAQs

How long do you cook Instant Pot Ham?

I cooked my smaller sized ham for 7 minutes. Now if you have a larger ham you might find you need a bit longer to ensure it fully warms the ham up.
If you cook a larger ham, you can also wrap aluminum foil all around the ham so that it doesn’t dry out as it cooks in the Instant Pot.
I share how long I recommend cooking ham in the pressure cooker.

Can I cook frozen ham in the Instant Pot?

You can cook frozen ham in the Instant pot. Follow the same directions, and then cook for the same amount of time. It will take longer for the Instant Pot to come to pressure, as it will thaw the ham before it begins pressure cooking.

How long does it take instant pot to come to pressure?

It can take anywhere from 5-20 minutes for a pressure cooker to come to pressure. It all depends on what is inside. Frozen foods, larger cuts of meat, etc. all will take longer to come to pressure.
