What Is Filet Mignon?

Filet mignon comes from the beef tenderloin and is considered one of the most tender cuts of steak available. Because it contains less marbling than cuts like ribeye, it’s prized for its buttery texture rather than intense beef flavor. Many steakhouses serve filet mignon with compound butter or rich sauces to enhance the flavor.

Its naturally tender texture makes it ideal for air frying since the quick cooking process helps preserve moisture without overcooking the meat.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Filet Mignon Steaks

Choose steaks that are approximately 1½ to 2 inches thick for the best results.

Olive Oil

Helps the seasonings stick and promotes browning.

Kosher Salt

Enhances the beef’s natural flavor.

Black Pepper

Adds a classic steakhouse seasoning.

Garlic Butter (Optional)

A finishing touch that melts over the steak, adding incredible flavor.

How To Choose The Best Filet Mignon

When shopping for filet mignon, look for:

  • Bright red color
  • Even thickness
  • Moderate marbling
  • USDA Choice or Prime grade when possible
  • Steaks that are 1 to 2 inches thick

Thicker steaks cook more evenly and are less likely to overcook in the air fryer.

How Long To Cook Filet Mignon In The Air Fryer

The exact cooking time varies based on steak thickness and air fryer model.

DonenessInternal TemperatureApproximate Cook Time
Rare125°F8-10 minutes
Medium Rare130-135°F10-12 minutes
Medium140-145°F12-14 minutes
Medium Well150-155°F14-16 minutes

Always use an instant-read thermometer for the most accurate results.

Pro Tips For Perfect Air Fryer Filet Mignon

Bring Steak To Room Temperature

Let the steak sit on the counter for about 30 minutes before cooking.

Pat Dry Before Seasoning

Removing excess moisture helps create a better crust.

Don’t Skip The Resting Time

Allow the steak to rest for 5-10 minutes after cooking so the juices redistribute throughout the meat. Resting improves texture and juiciness.

Use A Meat Thermometer

The quickest way to ruin an expensive filet is to guess its doneness.

Add Compound Butter

Garlic herb butter, blue cheese butter, or rosemary butter all pair beautifully with filet mignon.

Common Questions

Do I Need To Flip Filet Mignon In The Air Fryer?

Yes. Flipping halfway through cooking helps ensure even browning and cooking on both sides.

Can I Cook Frozen Filet Mignon In The Air Fryer?

Yes, but cooking times will increase significantly. For the best texture and most even results, thaw the steak before cooking.

Should I Preheat My Air Fryer?

Most air fryer steak recipes recommend preheating for more consistent cooking and browning.

What Temperature Should Filet Mignon Be Cooked To?

For the best texture, medium-rare (130°F–135°F after resting) is the most popular doneness level for filet mignon.

Steak Doneness Temperature Guide

One of the most important tools for cooking filet mignon is a reliable meat thermometer. Since filet mignon is a premium cut of beef, you’ll want to avoid overcooking it. Remember that the steak’s temperature will continue to rise 5-10 degrees as it rests after cooking.

DonenessRemove From Air FryerFinal Resting Temperature
Rare120-125°F125-130°F
Medium Rare125-130°F130-135°F
Medium135-140°F140-145°F
Medium Well145-150°F150-155°F
Well Done155-160°F160°F+

My recommendation for filet mignon? Medium-rare delivers the most tender, juicy texture while allowing the natural flavor of the beef to shine.

Why Resting Matters

After cooking, place the steaks on a plate and loosely tent with foil for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat instead of running out when sliced. Skipping the resting period can result in a drier steak.

Compound Butter Variations

A simple compound butter can take your air fryer filet mignon from great to steakhouse-worthy. Simply mix softened butter with your favorite ingredients and spoon it over the hot steak right before serving.

Garlic Herb Butter

A classic pairing for filet mignon.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • Pinch of salt

Blue Cheese Butter

Perfect if you love bold steakhouse flavors.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 2 tablespoons crumbled blue cheese
  • 1 teaspoon chives
  • Dash of black pepper

Garlic Parmesan Butter

Rich, savory, and family-friendly.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon parsley

Cajun Butter

For a little heat and smoky flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon juice

Rosemary Shallot Butter

An elegant option for special occasions.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon finely minced shallot
  • Pinch of kosher salt

Make Ahead Tip: Compound butter can be made up to 5 days in advance. Roll it into a log using plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to use.

Air Fryer Steak Troubleshooting Guide

Even simple recipes can occasionally need a few adjustments. Here are solutions to the most common air fryer steak issues.

My Steak Is Tough

Possible causes:

  • Overcooked steak
  • Steak wasn’t rested after cooking
  • Lower-quality cut of beef

Fix: Use a meat thermometer and remove the steak before it reaches your desired final temperature.

My Steak Is Dry

Possible causes:

  • Cooked too long
  • Steak was too thin
  • Not enough resting time

Fix: Choose filet mignon that is at least 1½ inches thick and always rest before slicing.

The Outside Isn’t Browning

Possible causes:

  • Air fryer wasn’t preheated
  • Too much moisture on steak
  • Basket overcrowded

Fix: Pat the steak completely dry with paper towels and preheat the air fryer before cooking.

The Steak Cooked Unevenly

Possible causes:

  • Uneven steak thickness
  • Didn’t flip halfway through cooking
  • Air fryer hot spots

Fix: Select steaks that are similar in size and thickness and flip them halfway through the cook time.

Smoke Is Coming From My Air Fryer

Possible causes:

  • Excess grease dripping
  • Oil splattering onto heating element

Fix: Add a tablespoon or two of water to the bottom drip tray (if your model allows) and trim excess fat before cooking.

My Steak Is Undercooked

Don’t panic. Simply return it to the air fryer for 1-2 minute intervals until the desired temperature is reached.

My Steak Is Overcooked

Unfortunately, steak cannot be uncooked. If it goes beyond your preferred doneness, serve it sliced with garlic butter or a creamy sauce to help add moisture and flavor.

Expert Tip For Best Results

The biggest mistake most home cooks make is cooking by time alone. Every air fryer cooks slightly differently, and steak thickness varies. For consistently juicy filet mignon, cook to temperature, not just time. This single tip will improve your results more than any seasoning or cooking method.

How To Cook Brats In Air Fryer

Place the raw brats in the air fryer basket. Cook at 350 degrees F. for 8 minutes, flip and cook an additional 6-8 minutes. Check their temperature with a meat thermometer and remove them when they reach 160 degrees F.

Air Fryer Brats Tips & Tricks

  • Prick the brats before cooking: Use a fork to poke a few holes in the bratwurst before cooking. This will allow the steam to escape and prevent the brats from bursting or splitting.
  • Preheat the air fryer: Preheating the air fryer for a few minutes before cooking will help ensure that the brats cook evenly and have a crispy exterior.
  • Cook in batches: It’s best not to overcrowd the air fryer basket when cooking brats. Cook them in batches to ensure that they have enough space to cook evenly and to avoid any overlap.
  • Check for doneness: Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the internal temperature of the brats has reached 160°F (71°C), the minimum safe temperature for pork.
  • Rest the brats: Once the brats are cooked, remove them from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help the juices redistribute and make for a more flavorful bratwurst.

Let’s talk about the moment strawberries decided they were done being dessert. Because this? This is strawberries in their spicy era. This strawberry salsa is what happens when sweet, juicy berries crash a savory party—and absolutely steal the spotlight.

You’ve got fresh strawberries bringing the sweetness, jalapeño adding just enough sass, lime keeping things zesty, and honey tying it all together like the friend who somehow gets along with everyone.

It’s bright. It’s bold. It’s a little unexpected (in the best way). And whether you’re scooping it up with cinnamon chips, piling it on grilled chicken, or pretending you made it just to “be fancy,” it delivers that perfect sweet-meets-savory bite every single time.

Bonus: it comes together in minutes, which means you can spend less time chopping and more time casually taking credit for how “gourmet” everything tastes.

I love to serve up this salsa with cinnamon chips (Stacy’s pita cinnamon chips) are my go-to. Or you can make homemade tortilla chips that are dusted in a cinnamon sugar mixture.

strawberry salsa in a bowl with chip dipping in bowl

Whip up these air fryer churros for another tasty cinnamon and sugar treat. Or these strawberry cheesecake tacos are a sweet dessert made with strawberry pie filling.

What is strawberry salsa?

Strawberry salsa is a fruit salsa that has strawberries as the main ingredient. You get a sweet and spicy with savory components. This salsa can be used for dipping with cinnamon sugar chips, top a grilled chicken, fish, or even a salad topper.

This is a great alternative to a watermelon salsa or mango salsa. Give it a try as the ingredients are very balanced.

Reasons Why I Love This Fruit Salsa

  • Perfect way to use up fresh strawberries for the season.
  • Use as an appetizer or side, or as a flavor topper for protein.
  • Easy prep and quick to assemble.
  • Bursting with sweet, tangy, and savory flavors.
  • You can control the spice level. Go mild or create a spicy salsa.
ingrdients for strawberry salsa in bowls on counter. Diced strawberries, jalapneo, salt and pepper, honey, onion, lime and cilantro

Ingredients Needed For Recipe

  • Strawberries – Rinsed, and diced finely.
  • Lime – Juice and zest from lime.
  • Cilantro – Fresh cilantro, finely chopped.
  • Jalapeno – Remove seed and membrane, finely diced.
  • Honey – Honey or agave are great as the sweetener. (maple syrup makes it vegan!)
  • Onion – Red, finely diced.
  • Salt and Pepper – To taste.

Variations

  • Dice up pineapple, fresh or canned. If canned make sure to drain.
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Sprinkle in chili powder for added elements of flavor. Aim around 1/4 teaspoon to 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Green onions in exchange of red onion.
  • Fresh mint can be used to enhance the flavor even more.
  • Toss in fresh peaches or even apricots for a tasty stone fruit flavor.

How to Make

Here is how you make the strawberry salsa. The full recipe is in the printable recipe card with the measurements. This is featured at the bottom of the post.

  1. Serve the salsa right away, or let it sit for 30 minutes in a covered dish in the fridge.

Expert Tips For Success

  • Finely dice all the ingredients. The size of the fruit will affect the flavor, so small pieces is key.
  • If you want the salsa to have some spice leave a few seeds in the jalapeno.
  • Make sure if your skin is sensitive to wear gloves when you work with the jalapenos.
  • Allowing the salsa to sit 30 minutes helps to blend the flavors even more.

FAQs

How to pick ripe strawberries?

Look for deep red, plump, and fragrant berries. It is important to make sure there are not soft spots, bruising, or mold growing on the berries. Also, pale colored strawberries are not ripe.

Can I eat the stems of cilantro?

You can chop up the cilantro steps and use in the salsa. You will find the stems carry a lot of flavor in herbs. If you don’t mind the texture you can use the stems. If you prefer to not have stems simply discard.

Is it okay if there is juice at bottom of bowl?

Strawberries release liquid as they sit in the fridge. If you find you are getting liquid at the bottom of the bowl you can drain it off, or just strain before serving if you want.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint fresh strawberries hulled and diced
  • 1 jalapeno deseeded and diced
  • ½ cup diced red onion
  • ½ cup cilantro chopped
  • Juice and zest of one lime
  • 2 tsp. Honey
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Pinch of black pepper more or less to taste

Instructions

  • In a bowl add your honey, lime juice and lime zest. Mix well and set to the side.
  • Next you will wash and finely chop the strawberries, jalapeno, red onion, and cilantro. Add it to the bowl with the sauce.
  • Toss well and season with salt and pepper as you would like.
  • Next serve right away, or refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Serve with cinnamon pita chips, top fish or even chicken,

Notes

Jalapeno – Remove the seeds and white membrane to create a mild salsa. Or leave some seeds if you want some heat to the salsa. Use gloves when working with jalapenos as the oil can be harsh on sensitive skin.
Refrigerate – Allowing the salsa to refrigerate for 30 minutes is going to blend the flavors even more. Now you do not have to refrigerate for 30 minutes. You can serve it up right away.
Onion – If you don’t want red onion you can finely chop green onions for a twist in flavor.

Quick Guide On How To Make

Step 1: Cook the potatoes

Add butter to the Blackstone griddle and add hashbrown potatoes. Cook until lightly browned and softened, about 8-10 minutes.

Step 2: Cook the sausage

Brown the breakfast sausage. Cook until cooked all the way through.

Step 3: Scramble the eggs

Add some butter to the Blackstone and pour on the eggs. Scramble until they are all cooked and fluffy. Combine the hash browns, sausage, and eggs together.

Step 4: Wrap burritos

Add the breakfast burrito mixture to a large tortilla. Sprinkle with shredded cheese. Roll the burrito and place on the griddle sealed side down. Brown lightly and flip.

Step 5: Serve

Serve the Blackstone breakfast burritos with all your favorite toppings, and enjoy!

Helpful Tips

  • Don’t use bagged cheese. Instead, shred your own cheese. It’s really pretty fast and actually tastes WAY better than bagged shredded cheese.
  • Be careful not to overcook. Overcooking the sausage, potatoes, and eggs will make the burritos really dry.

Common Questions

Can I add vegetables to these easy breakfast burritos?

Yes, place any of your favorite veggies on the grill and saute them. Onions, peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, and anything else you like are all tasty options.

Is it okay to use different meat for homemade breakfast burritos?

Yep! Make these Blackstone griddle breakfast burritos with bacon, ham, or a combination of meats. Cook whatever meat you are using on the griddle until it’s done and enjoy!

Can I meal prep breakfast burritos?

You can make homemade burritos ahead of time by filling them and wrapping them with tin foil or plastic wrap. Defrost and heat in the microwave, air fryer, or in a skillet with a little bit of oil.

ingredients to make the sausage and egg casserole in bowls on table in single serve containers

Ingredients Needed

How To Make Breakfast Casserole

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Brown the sausage in a skillet until no longer pink. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Add butter to the pan and brown the hash browns in the same skillet you used to cook the sausage. This step is optional but adds more flavor and texture to the sausage-and-egg casserole. Skip this step if you are making the casserole ahead of time.

Mix together milk, eggs, Bisquick, salt, and pepper in a bowl. It will be slightly lumpy because of the Bisquick.

Add the sausage to the casserole dish and top with hashbrowns (cooked or frozen). Then top with egg mixture and a sprinkle of cheese.

Bake in the oven for 45 – 55 minutes or until the eggs are all cooked. Add extra cheese during the last 5-10 minutes of baking. Serve hot and enjoy!

What can I add to sausage and egg casserole?

  • Vegetables: You can add vegetables like diced bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach, or zucchini to the casserole. Sauté the vegetables first to remove excess moisture.
  • Cheese: You can add shredded cheese to the casserole for added creaminess and flavor. We use cheddar, but Monterey Jack, Mozzarella, and Parmesan are all good choices.
  • Herbs and Spices: You can add herbs and spices such as thyme, rosemary, paprika, or cumin to the casserole to add more depth of flavor.
  • Bread: You can add bread to the casserole to make it more filling. Cut a few slices of bread into small cubes and add them to the casserole before baking.
  • Hot Sauce: If you like a little heat, you can add a few dashes of hot sauce to the casserole before baking.
  • Bacon: You can add crumbled bacon to the casserole for a smoky flavor.
  • Ham: Diced ham is another great addition to a sausage-and-egg casserole.
  • Sour cream: You can add a dollop to the casserole before serving for a creamy finish.

What goes with breakfast casserole?

  • Fresh Fruit: Serve the breakfast casserole with a side of fresh fruit such as berries, sliced oranges, or sliced bananas.
  • Toast or Bagels: A slice of toast or a toasted bagel can be a great side dish.
  • Hash Browns: Crispy hash browns are a classic side dish for breakfast, and they go well with this sausage and egg casserole.
  • Biscuits: Freshly baked biscuits are a perfect pairing for a breakfast casserole, especially if the casserole has a lot of gravy or sauce.
  • Yogurt: A side of yogurt can provide a creamy contrast to the savory flavors of a breakfast casserole.

How do you make breakfast casserole in advance?

Follow all the recipe directions, except don’t cook the hash browns. Add all of the ingredients to the casserole dish, cover tightly, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours in advance.

Kung pao sauce is one of the most popular stir-fry sauces. This versatile recipe is sweet and tangy and complements veggies, chicken, shrimp, pork, and more. Try this stir-fry sauce today and elevate your dish! This sauce is trendy and used in Chinese restaurants.

With a bit of work, you can make this easy recipe at home and enjoy this homemade Kung Pao sauce recipe anytime you want. Elevate dinner tonight with this sweet and spicy sauce.

You might also know Kung Pao as Chinese brown sauce or even stir-fry seasoning. It’s a thick and creamy sauce that sticks to the veggies and meat for insane flavor! I love pairing it with stir-fry ingredients and diced-up chicken breast. Pair it with some jasmine rice and dive in with a fork first.

Kung Pao sauce in a jar with nuts around it

It’s so simple to make, and you will love the homemade flavor compared to the bottled sauce. One of the popular recipes is this Panda Express Kung Pao Chicken. Now, you can make it at home for a fraction of the cost.

This is a thick Kung Pao sauce that really smothers the chicken pieces or veggies you pair it with. You can also make an easy Kung Pao shrimp or even Kung Pao beef instead of chicken.

Why this sauce is a must-make

Pantry Ingredients—Raid your pantry, and you might already have all the ingredients! These super simple ingredients combine for one epic homemade stir-fry sauce.

Quick to Make—This sauce is ready to use in minutes. That is what I love—a no-fuss recipe that is quick and simple to make.

Incredible Flavor—I use bottled sauce a lot, but for stir-fries, homemade sauce truly gives your meat and veggies a whole new level of flavor.

Panda Express Kung Pao Sauce—This is a great swap for the jarred sauce you can buy. I share how to achieve a spicier version, or you can keep it mild if you prefer.

Make Ahead of Time—You can make this sauce ahead of time. Whip it up and store it in the refrigerator until ready to use.

ingredients for kung pao sauce on table in glass bowls

Ingredients Needed

Soy sauce—Soy sauce is the main flavor of the sauce. It is tangy and salty, and it helps balance out the sweetness. If you need to reach for a low-sodium soy sauce, you should watch your sodium intake, as regular soy sauce contains quite a bit of salt.

Granulated Sugar—You can add less or more of this ingredient to adjust the sweetness of your sauce. The sugar also helps balance out all the other ingredients.

Rice Vinegar—I am obsessed with rice wine vinegar. It is a delicious vinegar that enhances flavors. However, it isn’t as stout as, say, a classic distilled vinegar.

Cornstarch and Water—These two ingredients make a slurry for the sauce. As the sauce cooks and is heated, it will begin to thicken. Then, the sauce will stick to your eggless meat or even noodles.

Sesame Oil—Sesame oil has a nutty flavor and aroma that helps the sauce stand out in flavor. It is used in many cuisines.

How To Make

The printable recipe card below contains full directions on how to make Kung Pao sauce. It also includes a walkthrough with images to help.

steps on how to make stir fry sauce
  1. First, add the granulated sugar and cornstarch to a bowl and stir to mix a bit.
  2. Next, add the rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and water.
  3. Whisk until the ingredients are fully combined. Then, store the sauce in the fridge until ready to use. You can also stir it in with stir-fry veggies, chicken, pork, etc.

How To Use Sauce

  •  Sauté veggies in a skillet. Once close to done, stir in Kung Pao at the end and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce is thickened. Red peppers, green bell peppers, water chestnuts, fresh ginger, broccoli, snap peas, etc.
  • Cube the tofu and cook it in a skillet. Feel free to add veggies as well. Then, stir the sauce in at the end to flavor the dish.
  • Pour sauce in the last 1-2 minutes of cooking. You can mix it with beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, etc., or just meat or add other veggies you like.
  • Make my Kung Pao Chicken recipe.
  • Add a little of the sauce to ramen noodles for a doctored-up version. You can toss in additional ingredients or do noodles and sauce.
  • To add spice to this tangy sauce, add some red or Sichuan chili peppers for a spice boost. This will really give your Chinese dishes a bold, spicy flavor.

Storing

Refrigerate—Once mixed, this sauce needs to be refrigerated. You can make the sauce and keep it for almost a week. Stir well before cooking.

Freezing—You can freeze your Kung Pao stir-fry sauce for 2 months. Just place it in a freezer bag or airtight container. Thaw in the fridge overnight, then reheat in the microwave or warm in a skillet. I prefer to heat it on the stovetop.

Expert Tips and Variations

  • Add in dried chilies for a nice spicy component to the sauce. You can also use red chili flakes as well.
  • Mix with snap peas, broccoli, peppers, onions, etc. Or dice up chicken, shrimp, etc.
  • Top your dish with some green onions for a garnish and add flavor. Same with sesame seeds.
  • For a gluten-free option, reach for coconut aminos to replace soy sauce.
  • Top with cashews or peanuts once mixed with other food for a nice crunch.
  • Make sure the pan or wok is nice and hot before you add the meat or vegetables to create that nice sear. I like to use medium to medium-high heat.
  • If you do not want to use corn starch, you can swap it with xanthan gum.
  • Dark soy sauce can be used, but it will be bolder in flavor.
  • Red pepper flakes elevate the spice factor. So, if you enjoy spicy food, try adding some peppers.
  • If you want to elevate your sauce, sear some bok choy, yellow onion, bell peppers, broccoli, peas, and more to add tons of flavor to your dish. Once the veggies are cooked, toss the sauce in at the end and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.

Ingredients

Instructions

  • In a bowl you will want to add your granulated sugar and cornstarch. Whisk to mix.
  • Then add in the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and water. Whisk well.
  • To cook the Kung Pao sauce, heat a pan on medium heat and pour in the sauce. Cook until the sauce is thickened.
  • This takes just a couple of minutes. Once thick, pour on rice, or use as a stir fry sauce to mix with vegetables or meat or even tofu.

Notes

Stir Fry – When you use sauce for a stir fry cook up the meat or veggies until almost done. Then at the 2 minute mark stir in the sauce, and it will become nice and thick and stick to the other food. Stir constantly or it will burn. Remove from heat and serve.
Rice – Basmati and Jasmine are two types of rice that go well with this Chinese stir fry sauce.
Spice up Sauce – Add in some red chili flakes or chilies peppers diced up for added spice to the sauce. Mix in the same time you mix up the rest of the ingredients.
Sweetness – Now you can add less or more sugar. If you need a sugar free option use your favorite artificial sweetener of choice. Add sweetener to flavor. The sweetener can leave a bit of a different flavor to the sauce but delicious.
Storage – You can store this sauce uncooked in the fridge or cook it and store it in the fridge. Then to reheat warm up in the microwave. To cook you will stir well and cook on the stove on medium heat until thickened.
Freezing – You can freeze the sauce for 2 months if you would like. Make sure to freeze in an airtight container or sealable bag. Then thaw in the fridge overnight before you plan to serve.

Helpful Tips For Making Cake

You are welcome to use a boxed cake mix if you want. You don’t have to do homemade, but I love the cereal flavored milk. It really gives this cake a stand out flavor.

For the frosting I made a cereal milk buttercream, but you are more than welcome to use any flavor of frosting you want.

Watch your cake to ensure you do not overbake it, as it can dry out the cake. All ovens heat a bit different so use the cook time as a guide.

If you want you can make two 8 inch cakes to create a layered cake instead of a 9×13 cake if you would like.

Storing Cake

For this rainbow sheet cake it can be stored on the counter at room temperature or you can refrigerate the cake as well. I find that refrigerating the cake extends the shelf life of the cake by a few days.

It is best to eat the cake within the first 1-2 days of making it. Store for 3-5 days, depending how stored.

You can freeze this cereal cake for 2-3 months in a proper container. Just thaw on the counter or in the fridge overnight for a slow thaw.

Ingredients

Cereal Cake Ingredients

  • 3 cups Lucky Charms Cereal separate cereal and marshmallows
  • 2 cups milk only use 3/4 cup milk for cake
  • 1 1/4 cup All purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 2 eggs room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla
  • Green food coloring optional

Cereal Milk Frosting Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 2 tablespoons cereal milk
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Marshmallows and sprinkles for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
  • Spread the Lucky Charms cereal (no marshmallows) on a prepared cookie sheet. Make sure to do an even layer. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, stirring half way.
  • Once done remove cereal and allow it to cool a bit. Then place the cooled cereal in a strainer and place in a bowl of milk, allowing the cereal to soak.
  • Once done soaking drain milk, and discard cereal.
  • Then bump up the oven to 350 degrees, and grease your 9×13 cake pan.
  • In a bowl you will add your flour, cornstarch, salt and baking powder. Mix to combine, and set aside.
  • Then in a bowl you will mix the butter, oil and sugar. You want to cook on medium speed for 2-3 minutes. You want it to lighten up in color and fluff up.
  • Mix in the eggs, vanilla, and 3/4 cup of cereal milk.
  • Next, slowly mix in the dry ingredients to the batter. Make sure to scrape down the sides if needed.
  • Now you will add in a few drops of the green food coloring, mix one last time to combine.
  • Pour into a greased 9×13 pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cake is baked and sticking a toothpick in the center it comes out clean of wet batter.
  • Let the Lucky Charm cake cool completely before frosting.

Frosting Directions

  • In a large bowl mix the butter and powdered sugar, with 1-2 tablespoons of the cereal milk. Add in the vanilla extract as well.
  • You won't have to use all the milk of the frosting seems wet enough. It just depends on the frosting. You will beat the frosting for 2-3 minutes on medium speed.

Frosting Cake

  • For frosting the cake you will use an offset spatula and spread the frosting in an even layer all over the 9×13 cake. Make sure your cake is fully cooled, or the frosting will melt into the cake.
  • Once frosting is applied, sprinkle or place the Lucky Charms Marshmallows all over the cake.
  • I then added a few rainbow sprinkles throughout the cake as well.

Notes

Milk Used – You won't use all the cereal milk for the cake or the frosting. But you need to have enough milk it can soak while cereal is in a strainer.
Frosting – If your frosting is too thin add more powdered sugar. Or if too thick add more of the cereal milk until it reaches your desired consistency.
Storing – You can store cake at room temperature or in the fridge. I prefer the fridge as it extends the shelf life of the cake. You can freeze any cake you don't plan to eat.

If you love crunchy snacks and pasta, this Air Fryer Crispy Tortellini is about to become your new favorite go-to recipe. Instead of boiling and serving tortellini the usual way, we’re breading and air frying these little pasta pillows until they’re golden, crisp, and irresistibly crunchy on the outside while staying soft and cheesy on the inside — all with far less oil than traditional frying.

Fried tortellini is delicious, but I wanted to eliminate the oil and create a “healthier” version to my favorite snack, appetizer, or even lunch option. Also, try my crunchy tortilla chips made in the air fryer. Serve with pizza sauce, marinara, or eat the seasoned tortellini alone.

Give this air-fried tortellini appetizer a try and enjoy. Great for holidays, parties, and of course, game day snack food. Place on a serving platter with some crisp vegetables, and your favorite dipping sauce, and serve up as a party appetizer. Or drizzle with a little sauce or olive oil and dive in.

Try out my Instant Pot Rigatoni for another delicious pasta dinner idea. This is made with Italian sausage and a creamy marinara sauce mixture.

Ingredients and Variations

Tortellini – You can use fresh refrigerator tortellini or frozen for this recipe. I used classic cheese-stuffed tortellini, but feel free to buy whatever tortellini you want.

Bread Crumbs – I used seasoned bread crumbs to minimize the number of ingredients. But you can swap for plain and add in your favorite seasonings. Italian seasoning is another option to add to plain bread crumbs.

Egg – This is the wet mixture you will dip the pasta in, then dredge in the bread crumbs.

Oil – I used avocado oil to spritz the tortellini with. This will help to provide that golden crust you want.

Marinara – OPTIONAL but delicious.

Here is a visual walkthrough on how to make crispy air-fried tortellini. The full directions and ingredient measurements are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Step One: Preheat your air fryer as directed. I recommend preheating for 5 minutes to ensure the air fryer is nice and hot.

Step Two: Whisk eggs and place in a bowl, bread crumbs in another bowl and then work on dredging.

Step Three: Dip each tortellini pasta in the egg, followed by bread crumbs. Place in air fryer basket or tray.

Step Four: Air Fry, and spritz with oil if needed to help create a golden crust on the outside. I flip half way through the cook time and spritz the other side of the pasta.

Skip the fried appetizers and try this crispy tortellini recipe using your air fryer.

Garnish with fresh basil, parsley, additional seasoning, or even additional parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. I find a pop of fresh herbs helps to add color.

Pro Tips For Success

  • Place your tortellini in a single layer in your basket or air-fryer tray. Otherwise, they will not cook evenly.
  • Shake off excess egg and bread crumbs, making sure it isn’t too heavily coated, it can make a mess.
  • Place an air fryer parchment liner to help prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  • Air fry in batches if you want to make extra. Then keep the extras warm in the oven at 200 degrees, placed in a single layer on a lined baking sheet.

Storing Leftovers

Refrigerate: You can store any tortellini you don’t eat in the fridge for 3-5 days. They will become softer in texture once cooled down. But to get a crispy texture again, you can warm them back up in the air fryer for a few minutes.

Freezing: Feel free to freeze any of your tortellini for up to 3 months. Just place in a freezer bag or container that is freezer-approved. Thaw in the fridge and reheat or warm up straight from the freezer.

  • Use nut butter to replace peanut butter. Nut butter like almond butter or sunflower butter can be used. Just know it will affect the texture just a bit. A cookie butter spread can be used as well. Just know if you have a peanut allergy you can swap ingredients to make it work.
  • Swap the Rice Krispies cereal mixture with Cheerios or other cereal. It will still be a crispy cookie recipe depending on the cereal chosen.
  • Candy melts can be used but just know the quality of chocolate will affect the flavor of the cookies.

Pancake muffins – a muffin that is made with pancake mix. Read that again! Take your favorite pancake mix and transform it into pancake mix muffins. Simple, delicious, and the mix-in ingredients are endless. An easy breakfast muffin that melts in your mouth.

I am a sucker for any style of muffin. Pumpkin muffins, lemon blueberry, or a lemon poppy seed. Whatever the recipe is, I struggle to have self-control. Easy muffins are calling your name.

stacked muffins on wooden counter

The granulated sugar on top adds a bit of crunch which helps elevate the flavor even more. Eat as a muffin or warm up and then drizzle a little syrup on top for a pancake twist.

This Blueberry Pancake Muffins Recipe Is…

  • Made with pancake mix instead of the classic all purpose flour, and other dry ingredients.
  • Can mix in any fruit, chocolate chips, etc., you want. Fresh blueberries are one of my favorites.
  • Easy to make and easy to convert. Protein pancake mix can be used for added for extra protein.
  • Moist muffins that are fluffy, delicious, and so easy to make.

Ingredients

Pancake Mix – Reach for any brand of pancake mixes you like. I used a buttermilk-style mix.

Sugar – Granulated sugar will sweeten your muffins, and add a dusting of sugar on top for crunch.

Blueberries – Fresh or frozen blueberries.

Eggs and Oil – This is going to help give your muffins the perfect texture and bind ingredients together.

Water

Pancake muffins are an easy muffin that uses pancake mix as the base. This quick blueberry muffin recipe is a hit every single time! Essentially you can mix in any fruit, dried fruit, chocolate chips, and more. A pancake mix recipe that is going to win you over with one fluffy delicious bite.

Variations to Recipe

Fruit – You can add any fruit you want. Strawberries, raspberries, or other fruits of choice. If the fruit is larger in size, cut it down to size. Dried fruit works as well.

Chocolate – White chocolate, milk, or semi-sweet chips are great for stirring in. You can also chop up your favorite baking chocolate bar.

Nuts – Love nuts? If so, add in a few nuts. Almonds, walnuts, pecans, or other nut of choice.

How to Make

Full directions on how to make muffins with pancake mix are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a quick walk-through.

  1. Start by preheating your oven, and then grease your pan or place liners in the muffin tin.

Expert Tips For Making Muffins

  • Frozen Berries – If you are using frozen blueberries, this tip is good to know. Rinse your berries in cold water, then drain. This will help pull away the extra blue color and won’t leave your batter streaky.
  • Liners – I love cupcake liners. They can add a look to the muffins but also help with easy cleanup. Letting the muffins cool helps to remove them easier from the muffin liner.
  • Serving – These do taste like a muffin more than a classic pancake. But if you want you can serve with syrup if you want to add more sweetness to the muffins.
  • Things to Make With Pancake Mix – Want to go beyond these muffins? Here are a couple more recipes using pancake mix to consider. Sausage balls use Bisquick, chocolate chip coffee cake, or raspberry cinnamon rolls with pancake mix.

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 cup blueberries fresh or frozen

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Place liners in the muffin tin or grease pan well.

Notes

Sugar Top – Use a little extra sugar and sprinkle on top of muffins before you bake for a light sugar coating if you want. This is optional.
Mix-ins – So I used blueberries, but you can use any fruit, dried fruit, chocolate chips, etc.
Frozen Berries – Rinse your blueberries in cold water and drain water. Then mix in the pancake mix, and this will help reduce the blue bleeding color from the berries.
Storing – Store your pancake muffins in the fridge, or freeze them. Then eat cold, let warm up to room temperature or warm in the microwave for a fresh out of the oven.
Freezing – You can freeze muffins in a proper container for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight or warm up on counter or microwave for a quick thaw.

Instant Pot Lemon Poppy Seed Cake is the ULTIMATE Instant Pot Cake. If you are a fan of lemon you will swoon over this bright and citrus filled lemon cake that is bursting with flavor.

Instant Pot Lemon Poppy Seed Cake

Instant Pot lemon cake is one recipe I was dying to make. While I couldn’t find a recipe, I decided to create my own. This pressure cooker lemon cake is one you will make over and over again. Instant pot desserts are one of my favorite things to cook in my Instant Pot!

Here are more lemon recipes

Moist Lemon Cake

Skip the lemon cake mix, and whip up a cake that is vibrant and full of lemon citrus flavor in each bite. This Instant Pot cake is super moist! Granted it is a thinner cake, but you could always make two cakes and make it a layered cake.

It packs tons of flavor, so I am fine with it being smaller. I used confectioner’s sugar and a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice to achieve the perfect lemon flavor, and I skipped the classic frosting on this cake.

Can I Make Cake In My Instant Pot

I hear this a lot, and the answer is yes! You can make a cake in your Instant Pot.

I will share how I made this recipe below, but also you can check out my Instant Pot Nutella Cake or my Instant pot chocolate cake as well!

What Is The Cake Setting On Instant Pot

I used the classic High-Pressure setting for making my cake in the Instant Pot. I baked this lemon cake for 25 minutes, then let it sit for 15 minutes with a natural release. Follow the cooking time, and make sure you seal your Instant Pot properly so it comes to pressure and cooks the cake.

You can easily grab a bundt cake and turn it into an Instant Pot lemon bundt cake, which will offer stunning presentation.

How To Make Instant Pot Lemon Poppy Seed Cake

Start by lining your Instant Pot Cake Pan with a piece of parchment paper on the bottom along with spritzing with cooking spray.

Then you will mix up your dry ingredients in one bowl, and mix wet ingredients in another. Incorporate the two, and then pour into a cake pan, and then pour 1/2 cup water into your pot.

Add your silicone sling and set the cake in, and seal and cook on high pressure for 25 minutes with a natural release for 15 minutes.

Allow to cool then mix up your lemon glaze and pour over the top of the cake!

Lemon Glaze For Lemon Poppy Seed Cake

I wanted to create a simple 2-ingredient lemon glaze. Powdered sugar and lemon juice are what you will use.

Create a creamy base, and then pour it over your decadent lemon poppyseed cake! It adds even more lemon flavor in each bite.

I added a bit of lemon zest on top for a pop of color and more lemon flavor.

How To Store Lemon Poppy Seed Cake With Lemon Glaze

You will want to store your leftover lemon cake with the lemon glaze in the fridge.

Your cake will store for 3-5 days. Of course, this cake-like any other flavor is best when served within the first few days.

If you don’t want to make the lemon glaze you are more than welcome to keep it off if you prefer.

  • ¼ cup lemon juice about 1 full lemon
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 4 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  • Spray your instant pot cake pan with cooking spray, and line with parchment paper on the bottom.
  • In a bowl Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder in a bowl and set aside.
  • Now in a new bowl you will add in your butter, sugar, lemon juice, zest, sour cream, and egg. Whip the lemon cake batter until creamy.
  • Then add dry ingredients to your wet ingredients stirring with a whisk.
  • Pour your cake batter into your cake pan, and then place it in the rubber sling.
  • Add ½ cup water into pressure cooker. Then place your cake into the Instant Pot.
  • Place Instant Pot lid on, and make sure the valve is sealed. You will then cook high pressure 25 minutes. Then allow it to natural release for 15 minutes, and then release any leftover pressure and remove cake.
  • I placed the lemon poppy seed cake on a cooling rack to cool.
  • Now you will mix the 1 cup of powdered sugar in a bowl and slowly add in a little lemon juice at a time. You might not use it all. You want it to be a thicker glaze.
  • When lemon cake is cooled, pour the glaze over the top.

❓Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a taco ring?

A taco ring is a baked dish made with crescent dough, where seasoned taco meat and cheese are arranged in a ring and wrapped with crescent dough. It’s a fun and easy alternative to traditional tacos and is perfect for sharing.

Can I make this taco ring ahead of time?

Yes! You can assemble the taco ring up to 24 hours in advance, cover it tightly, and refrigerate. When ready to bake, add a few extra minutes to the baking time since it will be chilled.

What meat works best for a taco ring?

Ground beef is the most popular choice, but you can easily substitute ground turkey, ground chicken, or even shredded rotisserie chicken. For a vegetarian taco ring, use black beans, refried beans, or a plant-based meat alternative.

Can I use different dough instead of crescent rolls?

Crescent rolls work best for a classic taco ring, but puff pastry or crescent dough sheets can also be used. Just keep in mind that baking times may vary slightly.

How do I keep the taco ring from getting soggy?

Be sure to drain excess grease from the cooked meat and let it cool slightly before assembling the ring. Avoid adding wet toppings like salsa or sour cream until after baking.

What toppings go well with a taco ring?

Popular taco ring toppings include shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, pico de gallo, black olives, and jalapeños. Adding toppings after baking keeps the crescent dough crisp.

Can I freeze leftover taco ring?

Yes! Let leftovers cool completely, then wrap tightly and freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for best texture.

Kick off game day with the cutest (and easiest) sweet treat ever — Chocolate Covered Strawberry Footballs! Juicy fresh strawberries dipped in rich chocolate and decorated to look like mini footballs make the perfect no-bake dessert for football parties, Super Bowl snacks, or tailgating spreads. They’re fun to make, crowd-pleasing, and a lighter alternative to traditional game-day desserts everyone will reach for.

Chocolate-dipped strawberries are a weakness of mine. Add on a football lace design, and you have a football-shaped dessert to nibble on as you cheer on your favorite team.

platter with chocolate strawberries with bite taken it out

This is a super simple but fun game day dessert you got to try. I am no pro at working with chocolate, but these berries were pretty easy to make.

Why Make These Dipped Strawberries

Easy – This is a fun game day treat that you can throw together. It’s simple to do but the presentation value is awesome!

Gourmet Strawberries – Skip the expensive berries and make them yourself. Serve up gourmet strawberries without the hefty price tag.

3 Ingredients – You just need 3 ingredients to make this super bowl dessert! It’s so fun and affordable.

Football Food – This is a great dipped strawberry recipe for a football party or football birthday theme! Any game day lover will enjoy biting into this sweet treat.

strawberries and chocolate melts in bowls on white table

Ingredients You Need

Strawberries – Fresh strawberries are best. You can buy regular size or reach for gourmet straw west size if your store has any.

White Chocolate – I used Ghirardelli white chocolate wafers for drawing on the football laces.

Dark Chocolate – You either need melting chocolate or you need to temper your chocolate. I used Ghirardelli dark chocolate wafers. I melted down.

Tools That Are Helpful

  • Microwave Safe Bowl – You can melt your candy melts in the microwave.
  • Parchment Paper – to prevent chocolate from sticking once you dip.
  • Squeeze Bottle – I used this to draw on the football laces. You could use a piping bag as well.

Substitute and Additions

  • You can use your favorite teams color of chocolate. Dip in one color, and then for the lace do a white or another color.
  • Add on some team color sprinkles.
  • You can dip apples, other berries, etc. as well.
  • Use chocolate chips instead of chocolate wafer melts. If you do chocolate chips add a teaspoon of shortening to allow the chocolate to harden.

How to Make Chocolate Covered Strawberry Footballs

Step 1: First you will want to melt your milk or dark chocolate wafers in the microwave.

dipped strawberries on parchment paper

Step 2: Next, you will dip your berries in the chocolate. I hold on to the stem then roll the strawberries in the chocolate coating all areas. Then shake off excess.

Steps 3: Let the chocolate harden on the strawberries. This takes around 5 minutes. In a microwave safe bowl or the squirt bottle add chocolate and melt. Stir in between 20 second heat cycles till melted.

strawberry with white chocolate line down center of dipped chocolate

Step 4: Then draw a line down the middle with 2-3 lines going across to be like a football lace. Then let the chocolate covered strawberry design harden then serve.

Storage Of Berries

Your strawberries will store for 1-2 days in the fridge. The strawberries will release juice, and leak out a bit the longer they sit. I recommend making these only up to 24 hours in advance. But they are best made and served only a few hours in advance.

Freezing berries can work but the texture of the strawberry will be totally different. If you do freeze they would just be for snacking on, it wouldn’t be good for serving up to guests.

Expert Tips

  • When you draw on the white lines, make sure the chocolate isn’t too hot. If it is it will be a lot more liquidy and run a bit. Letting it set up slightly before you pipe.
  • You can use a piping bag to draw on the lace of the football if you want. My bottle had a bit of a larger tip so the look isn’t perfect.
  • It is okay if your berries are not perfect. It adds a personal touch and is still so much fun.

Instructions

  • Lay out some parchment paper, and then with the melted dark chocolate hold the strawberries my leaves and dip in the chocolate.
  • Shake off the excess chocolate and then place the berry on parchment paper to set up. Repeat the process till all the strawberries have been dipped in the dark chocolate.
  • Next, once your chocolate is hardened, you will work on the white chocolate. Melt your chocolate in the microwave again. I placed my chocolate in the squirt bottle then stirred and heated till fully melted.
  • Let the chocolate cool a bit, if it is too hot the chocolate will run a lot. Then you will draw a straight line down the center of the berries. Then create 2-3 stripes across the berry to mimic football laces.
  • Once all your white chocolate is on the berries, you will then plate up the football strawberries and serve or refrigerate until you are ready to serve.

Notes

Chocolate For Melting – You can use almond bark or candy melts. If you use chocolate chips you need to add 1 teaspoon of shortening to the chocolate. Or temper your chocolate so the chocolate hardens.
Color of Chocolate – So you can get creative and use all different colors of chocolate. If you are rooting for Kansas City Chief do a yellow dipped strawberry with red laces. Or swap any colors you want to fit your teams colors.
Storing – These strawberries will store for 1-2 days in the fridge. After that the berries will break down a lot and release a lot more juices.

Quick Share On How to Make

Mix the sauce ingredients together and store the sauce in a bowl, covered, or in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Tips for Cutting The Onion for A Blooming Onion

Cut off ½ inch from the top of the onion, then peel off the outer skin. Position the onion cut-side down on a flat kitchen board.

Start by cutting ½ inch from the root in a downward direction until you reach the board, then repeat to achieve four evenly spaced cuts around the entire onion.

Make three cuts between each section, for a total of 16 cuts. Turn the onion over and let it sit for 5 minutes so the petals relax. You’re going to gently separate the outer pieces of the onion with your fingers just before breading.

a white bowl with a breaded blooming onion on the table with flour to the top of the table in a plate

Breading The Onion

Whisk together the flour, paprika, cayenne, cumin, thyme, and oregano in a large bowl. Whisk the eggs, milk, and 1 cup of water in a separate medium bowl with depth.

Add the onion to a clean bowl with the cut side upwards and pour the dry mixture on top. Use a large spoon to coat the onion, paying particular attention to the onion petals. Turn the onion over and gently pat off any excess flour. Reserve the bowl of flour.

Place the onion in the egg mixture and coat it evenly. Remove the onion and allow any excess mixture to drip off before transferring it back to the reserved flour mixture, then repeat the entire process.

Air Fry Onion

Remove the onion from the fridge and spray it generously with cooking oil. Make a sling from aluminum foil to transfer the onion, cut-side up, into the air fryer basket. Cook the onion for 25 minutes, spraying it with oil 2-3 times as it cooks.

Remove the onion from the air fryer with the help of the foil sling and season it. Enjoy your air fryer blooming onion with dip!

Tips & Tricks

  • Choose the right onion – Sweet onions like Vidalia work best for blooming onions because they’re mild, tender, and open easily when cut.
  • Use a sharp knife – Clean cuts help the onion bloom properly and reduce tearing while cutting.
  • Let the onion rest after cutting – Allowing it to sit for 5 minutes helps the petals relax and separate more easily.
  • Don’t skip the oil spray – Light, even sprays of oil are key to getting that crispy, golden coating in the air fryer.
  • Spray in stages – Re-spray the onion 2–3 times during cooking for maximum crunch.
  • Chill before air frying – Refrigerating the breaded onion helps the coating stick and crisp better.
  • Customize the seasoning – Swap or add spices like chili powder, smoked paprika, or garlic powder to change the flavor profile.
  • Prevent watery eyes – Chill the onion in the freezer for 10–15 minutes before cutting to reduce eye irritation.

Best Onion to Use

  • Sweet onions (Vidalia) = best flavor + bloom
  • Yellow onions = okay backup
  • Avoid red onions (too firm, uneven cook)

Air Fry Time May Vary

  • Basket-style air fryers tend to have longer cooking times than oven-style air fryers.
  • Check at 20 minutes, and if you feel it needs longer, cook for another 5-10 minute increments.
  • Larger onions may need extra time as there is a lot more onion to cook.

Seasoning Variations

Here are a few ways to change up the flavor of your blooming onion! Get creative and try your favorite spices and seasonings to create your own flavoring mixture.

  • Spicy (extra cayenne or chili powder)
  • Smoky (smoked paprika)
  • Ranch-style (ranch seasoning mix)
  • Creole seasoning would be delicious and add a nice spice factor

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a blooming onion take in the air fryer?

An air-fried blooming onion takes about 25 minutes at 350°F, with oil sprayed a few times during cooking for maximum crispiness.

Can I make a blooming onion without deep frying?

Yes! This air fryer blooming onion recipe gives you the same crispy texture as deep frying, but with significantly less oil.

What is the best onion for a blooming onion?

Sweet onions like Vidalia are best because they’re mild, tender, and bloom beautifully when cut.

Why isn’t my blooming onion crispy?

Make sure the onion is evenly coated, generously oiled, and cooked at the proper temperature. Skipping oil or overcrowding the air fryer can result in soggy food.

Can I prep a blooming onion ahead of time?

Yes. You can bread the onion and refrigerate it for up to 1 hour before air frying.

Ingredients

For the Onion

  • 1 large sweet onion
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper or more to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano dried
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • oil for frying

Onion Blossom Sauce

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons ketchup
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons horseradish
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
  • black pepper to taste
  • cayenne pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Mix the sauce ingredients together and store the sauce in a bowl, covered, or in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • Cut off ½ inch of the top of the onion and then peel off the outer skin. Position the onion cut-side down on a flat kitchen board.
  • Start to cut ½ inch from the root in a downward direction until you get to the board, and repeat so that you achieve four equally spaced cuts around the entire onion.
  • Make three cuts between each section which will give you 16 cuts in total. Turn the onion over and leave it to sit for 5 minutes, so the petals relax. You’re going to gently separate the outer pieces of the onion with your fingers just before breading.
  • Whisk together the flour, paprika, cayenne, cumin, thyme, and oregano in a large bowl. Whisk the eggs, milk, and 1 cup of water in a separate medium bowl with depth.
  • Add the onion to a clean bowl with the cut-side upwards and pour the dry mixture on top. Use a large spoon to coat the onion, paying particular attention to the onion petals. Turn the onion over and gently pat off any excess flour. Reserve the bowl of flour.
  • Place the onion in the egg mixture, coating it evenly. Remove the onion and allow any excess mixture to drip off before transferring the onion back to the reserved flour mixture to repeat this entire process.
  • Place the breaded onion in the fridge and preheat the air fryer for 10 minutes at 350F.
  • Remove the onion from the fridge and spray it generously with cooking oil. Make a sling from aluminum foil to transfer the onion cut-side up into the air fryer basket. Cook the onion for 25 minutes, spraying it with oil 2-3 times as it cooks.
  • Remove the onion from the air fryer with help from the foil sling and season it. Enjoy your air fryer blooming onion with dip!

all the ingredients for making a Marinated Air Fryer Pork Tenderloin on a white table

Ingredients

You’ll need just a handful of everyday ingredients to create a flavorful marinade:

  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey mustard
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
  • 2 pounds pork tenderloin

How to Make Marinated Pork Tenderloin in the Air Fryer

Step 1: Make the Marinade

In a small bowl or jar, whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, brown sugar, honey mustard, garlic, lemon juice, and poultry seasoning until well combined.

Step 2: Marinate the Pork

Place the pork tenderloin in a casserole dish or resealable container. Pour the marinade over the pork, making sure it’s fully coated. Cover and refrigerate overnight for best flavor.

Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer

Preheat your air fryer to 400°F.

Step 4: Cook the Pork Tenderloin

Place the marinated pork tenderloin into the air fryer basket. Since the marinade is oil-based, additional oil isn’t necessary.

  • Cook at 400°F for 5 minutes
  • Reduce the temperature to 325°F and cook for 12–15 minutes, or until a meat thermometer reads 145°F at the thickest part

Step 5: Rest & Serve

Remove the pork from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This helps keep it juicy.

Tips for Juicy Air Pork

  • Always use a meat thermometer — overcooking causes dryness
  • Let the pork rest before slicing
  • Marinating overnight gives the best flavor, but 4–6 hours works in a pinch
  • Slice against the grain for the most tender bites

FAQs

What temperature should pork tenderloin be cooked to?

Pork tenderloin is safe to eat when it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.

Can I cook pork tenderloin without marinating it overnight?

Yes, but marinating overnight gives the best flavor and juiciness. If short on time, marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Can I use a different air fryer model?

Absolutely. Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the size and model of your air fryer, so always check the internal temperature.

Variations to the Recipe

Here are ways to elevate this classic recipe. This grape jelly meatball recipe is a hit for holiday potlucks, baby showers, game day fun, and more.

  • Use cranberry sauce in place of grape jelly, equal parts. This will make them tasty cranberry meatballs with a sweet and sour flavor.

  • Reach for 2 containers of little smokies to replace a bag of frozen meatballs.

Can I Use Chili Sauce Instead of Barbecue Sauce

Yes, you can replace barbecue sauce with chili sauce. That is another popular way to make crockpot meatballs.

I personally prefer BBQ, but the chili sauce, grape jelly, and meatballs offer more of a sweet and spicy pairing.

Can I Cook Grape Jelly Meatballs on the Stove

Yep! Toss in your homemade or frozen meatballs into a pan. If homemade, cook the meatballs in a bit of oil to sear them first.

Then, when ready, pour grape jelly and barbecue all over the meatballs. Move the heat to low and stir often.

If cooking from frozen, you can cover the meatballs and slowly warm them for about 30 minutes. You can cook these meatballs longer if you would like to lock in even more flavor.

If you are cooking homemade, cook until all the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce thickens a bit, which takes about 45 minutes total.

Homemade Meatballs or Frozen

Not sure if you should make homemade meatballs or just buy frozen? Honestly, it is up to you!

I have done both, and they are equally good. A lot of times I reach for frozen meatballs to speed up the process. It makes it a no-fuss appetizer that way.

FAQs

Can I replace grape jelly?

You can replace the grape jelly. Simply use canned cranberry sauce, apply jelly, etc. I personally enjoy the cranberry twist if I make without grape jelly.

Do you thaw meatballs before cooking?

No, you toss your frozen meatballs right into the slow cooker. This is what I mean by easy prep. That is what makes these crockpot appetizer meatballs a breeze to make.

Can you double the recipe?

If you have room in your crockpot to add in more meatballs, go for it. You can make as many or as little as you would like. You just need room in your slow cooker.

What brand of jelly to use for crockpot meatballs with grape jelly?

Welch’s or Smuckers are the brands I reach for most often. I tend to buy what is on sale. But you can use any brand of jelly. Just remember, the jelly’s flavor will contribute to the meatballs’ overall flavor.

Can I use Italian meatballs instead of classic ones?

If you have Italian meatballs, you can use them in place of the classic. It will, of course, alter the flavor a bit, but it will taste pretty great.

Storing Meatballs

If you have leftovers, lucky you! Just allow your meatballs to cool a bit then transfer to an airtight container. The slow-cooker meatballs will keep for 3-4 days in the fridge. Eat the leftover meatballs cold or warm them up in the microwave or on the stove top.

You can also freeze the meatballs. Place meatballs in a freezer-safe container or bag and freeze for 2-3 months. Then when you are ready thaw in the fridge overnight, or defrost straight from the freezer. You can also warm up the leftover meatballs on the warm setting on your slow cooker. Or heat on the stovetop at medium-low.

  • Cut the whole pickles in half and use a small spoon to remove the centers of the pickles. Dry each pickle off with a paper towel.
  • Fill each pickle piece with cream cheese. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Take a slice of bacon and wrap the pickle. (I cut my bacon in half, but you can add the whole slice if you want)
  • Placed the wrapped dill pickles in the air fryer basket and cook at 385 for 25 minutes. Keep in mind each air fryer is a little bit different and you may need to adjust the cooking time. They are done cooking when the bacon on the pickle appetizers is crispy. Serve with ranch dressing and enjoy!

Ingredients Needed

Here is all it takes to make this cheesy goodness in this simple casserole.

Eggs – I used large whole eggs for this recipe. If you want to lighten the dish, use egg whites instead. It is up to you.

Breakfast Sausage – So I used sausage for this breakfast bake. But you can swap with Canadian bacon, bacon, etc. Just make sure the meat is fully cooked before you mix in the casserole.

Hashbrowns – I used diced hashbrowns that I got in the freezer section at our grocery store.

Cheese – Cheddar cheese is a great pairing; Monterey Jack, or even a sharp cheddar, can be used. Or spice it up with pepper jack cheese.

Seasonings: Garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper are used.

Milk – The milk is going to help allow the eggs to become fluffy as they bake.

How to Make

Full steps on how to make this sausage hashbrown breakfast casserole, are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a quick walkthrough.

How to Make Pasta E Fagioli Soup In Instant Pot

Collage of images on how to make instant pot pasta e fagioli soup
  1. Cook sausage and onions in Instant Pot. Cook until browned and fully cooked.
  2. Toss in the garlic and Italian seasoning and cook for another minute or until fragrant.
  3. Pour in chicken stock and scrape the bottom of the Instant Pot. Then toss in your beans, pasta, parmesan rind, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper.
  4. Place lid on Instant Pot, cook 4 minutes on high pressure followed by a quick release.
  5. Remove lid and stir in the chopped kale and heavy cream. Let sit for 2-3 minutes to wilt the kale a bit.
  6. Serve with grated cheese and more red pepper flakes if you want.

Full directions and measurements for recipe are in the recipe card below.

Slow Cooker / Crock Pot Version (Set-and-Forget Comfort)

(Good for when you don’t have Instant Pot — or want to prep ahead.)

  • Sauté sausage, onion, garlic, and seasoning on the stove; then transfer to the slow cooker with broth, beans, parmesan rind, and seasonings. Cook on low 6–8 hours. About 30 minutes before serving, stir in pasta, kale and cream (or half-and-half).
  • This method creates deeper flavors from slow simmering — ideal for busy days when you want dinner waiting.

Easy Variations & Substitutions

  • Swap Italian sausage for ground pork, beef, chicken sausage, or go vegetarian (use veggie-friendly sausage or skip meat entirely).
  • Use kidney beans or a mix of beans for extra variety.
  • Swap chicken stock with vegetable or beef broth, depending on your taste or dietary preference.
  • For a tomato-rich version: add a can of diced tomatoes (drain or keep juices), or stir in a splash of crushed tomatoes. (This isn’t in the original — but many “Pasta e Fagioli” versions include tomatoes, which gives another flavor dimension.)
  • Lighter cream option: use half-and-half, whole milk, or omit altogether — the beans and broth keep it satisfying.

Storage, Reheating, and Meal Prep

Storage & reheating tips: After cooking and cooling, store in an airtight container. Keeps 3–4 days in fridge, or freeze for up to 2–3 months. When reheating, add a splash of broth or water, reheat gently, and whisk if cream has separated. (Many competitors skip or briefly mention storage — giving more detail can help your post stand out.)

Meal-prep guidance: This soup freezes well in individual portions — perfect for busy professionals, college students or empty nesters. Just thaw overnight or reheat gently on stove/microwave.

What Are Alabama Heat Crackers?

Alabama Heat Crackers are traditionally made with saltine crackers coated in oil, ranch seasoning, red pepper flakes, and spices, then baked low and slow to lock in flavor. The crackers absorb the seasoning overnight, which is what gives them their signature bold taste and irresistible crunch.

They’re often served at:

  • Holiday parties
  • Tailgates and game day gatherings
  • Snack tables and potlucks
  • As homemade gifts in jars or treat bags

Christmas pretzels that are stuffed with caramel and drizzled with chocolate. A simple snack or holiday gift idea to stuff inside a Christmas tin. These caramel-stuffed pretzels take no time to make, and they are festive and tasty.

These sweet and salty Christmas pretzels are one of the most requested holiday treats I make every year because they’re fast, festive, and absolutely foolproof.

A sweet and salty Christmas treat that leaves you wanting one more bite. Give this easy caramel-stuffed Christmas pretzel recipe a try. Pair with a warm cup of hot chocolate. Try out this easy butterscotch fudge for an easy no-bake treat.

Pretzels, caramels, melting chocolate and sprinkles. Simple, tasty, and one dessert that screams the holiday season. I love white chocolate dipped pretzels. This recipe is easier as you are drizzling the chocolate on top.

Why You’ll Love These Christmas Pretzels

These chocolate-covered Christmas pretzels come together in under 30 minutes and require zero baking, making them ideal for last-minute holiday entertaining, teacher gifts, and cookie exchanges.

Last Minute Recipe – These holiday pretzels can be made in no time. Assemble and bake for 5 minutes, then drizzle with melted chocolate. That is all it takes!

Simple Ingredients – A Christmas candy that uses simple ingredients. No need to search for tough-to-find ingredients. Use everyday ingredients you can grab at your local store.

Christmas Candy Tin – This is a great addition to your Christmas candy tin for gifts to loved ones.

Festive Colors – The white chocolate and red candy melts help elevate the candy’s color. Then you will add Christmas sprinkles for a more pop of color.

Simple Ingredients You’ll Need

Pretzels – Use any shape of pretzels you want. I used a classic pretzel but pretzel squares, circles, and more work great.

Caramels – I used a classic caramel you unwrap. I then cut them in half and used half of a caramel for each pretzel. One full caramel seemed too much.

Chocolate – White chocolate and candy melts that were red are what I used. You can even use a green candy melts if you want.

Sprinkles – Festive Christmas sprinkles really throw these Christmas chocolate-covered pretzels the perfect look!

I got a few more treats to try this holiday season: White Chocolate Fudge, Christmas Oreo Truffles, or Grinch Hot Chocolate.

How to Make Christmas Pretzels (Step-by-Step)

This pretzel recipe is also a great beginner-friendly holiday treat for kids because there’s no oven required and the decorating step is fun and flexible.

caramel pretzels on an aluminum foil tray

Step One: Place your pretzels out on a baking sheet in a single layer. Leave a little space between each.

Step Two: Slice caramels in half. Then place half a caramel on each pretzel.

Step Three: Cook in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 3-5 minutes. You just want the caramel to soften just a bit.

caramel stuffed pretzels on baking tray

Step Four: Remove from oven and carefully top with the other pretzel, smashing the caramel.

Step Five: Now melt your white chocolate then drizzle over the top of the pretzels. Then repeat with the red candy melts.

chocolate pretzels on tray

Step Six: Add Christmas sprinkles if you want, and then let set up.

Once pretzels are set up, serve and enjoy this simple and easy chocolate covered pretzel!

Decorating Tips for Perfect Holiday Pretzels

  • Use a Rolo (chocolate-covered caramels) instead of a classic caramel.
  • Any shape of the pretzel works as long as not hollow in the center.
  • Quality chocolate is going to give you the best flavor.
  • You heat the pretzels up enough to get the caramel to melt. Once caramel is melted you can pull from the oven.
  • Drizzle on the chocolate however you want. I did just a bunch all over, but you can do any design you want.
  • Break apart the pretzels if stuck with chocolate once the chocolate sets up, and then serve.

Christmas Pretzels FAQ

Storage & Make-Ahead Tips

Once the chocolate has fully set, store your Christmas pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. If your kitchen runs warm, you can refrigerate them to prevent the chocolate from softening—just let them sit at room temperature for 10–15 minutes before serving for the best texture.

These pretzels are also perfect for making ahead. You can prepare them up to 7 days in advance for parties or gifting. Layer them between sheets of parchment paper to prevent sticking and store in a cool, dry place until ready to use.

Christmas Pretzels for Gifting

These Christmas pretzels make some of the easiest and most affordable homemade holiday gifts—perfect for teachers, neighbors, coworkers, and hostess gifts. Since they’re no-bake and hold up well at room temperature, you can make a large batch in one sitting and package them beautifully with minimal effort.

For gifting, place pretzels in:

  • Cellophane treat bags tied with ribbon
  • Small holiday tins
  • Clear plastic boxes for cookie trays

Add a simple gift tag and you have a festive, homemade present that looks store-bought but feels personal. If you’re building a holiday treat box, pair these pretzels with holiday snack mix, reindeer cookies, or my popular peanut butter balls for a complete sweet-and-salty combo your recipients will love.

  • Remove from the oven and then place the second pretzel on top, pressing down, to sandwich the caramel in between the pretzel.
  • Melt up your white chocolate in the microwave heating for 20 second intervals. Stir well then drizzle all over the caramel stuffed pretzels.
  • Repeat with the red candy melts, and drizzle over the pretzels again. Then if you want add on some sprinkles.
  • Let the Christmas pretzels set up then serve and enjoy this easy Christmas treat!

Notes

Pretzels – You can use any brand or style of pretzels. Just make sure there isn’t a big hole in center as you need pretzel there to keep the caramel placed.
Caramel – I used candy caramel but you can swap with a Rolo which is a chocolate covered caramel if you want.
Chocolate – You can use dark chocolate, green candy melts, etc. Feel free to adjust the colors of the chocolate to fit your liking.
Storing – Store your stuffed Christmas pretzels in an airtight container on the counter. Or you can freeze for 3-4 months. Thaw on the counter before eating.

  • Dijon Mustard
casserole dish with ham and pineapples in between slices of ham

Step-by-Step Baking Instructions

Open the can of pineapple slices and generously arrange them between the ham slices. Pull apart the slices and place the pineapple in the sliced ham.

Then, you will take the juice from the can of pineapple and pour it over the whole ham.

Next, sprinkle the brown sugar over the top and sides of the ham. Then, use your hands to rub the ham down with the mustard and mix it with the brown sugar.

Cover the ham with a lid or aluminum foil, and bake as directed.  Be sure to baste the ham once or twice during baking to lock in flavor and keep it moist.

Once done, let cool for a bit, then slice and serve up this brown sugar ham.

Easy Variations to Try

  • Use maple syrup instead of brown sugar for a sweet maple glaze. It offers more of a fall flavor to the oven-baked ham recipe.
  • Experimenting with a splash of bourbon or a touch of cayenne brings a fun twist that still keeps this recipe approachable.
  • You can swap and use honey mustard, making it sweeter and tangier. Or go to a new level and do a Dijon or whole grain mustard for a spicier flavor.
  • Add crushed red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to heat the fresh ham.
  • You can reach for your favorite herbs to garnish and cook with the pineapple ham. It will add more flavor to the recipe.
  • If you want to add a whole new level of depth, you can add a splash of bourbon to the pineapple ham recipe. It makes this a tasty holiday meal main course.
  • Top the ham with a maraschino cherry for a traditional topper for your ham.

How to Store and Reheat Leftovers

Any leftover ham and pineapple can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.

Then, you can reheat it in the microwave, oven, or even the air fryer.

You can also freeze the ham in a freezer-friendly container for 2-3 months. Then, thaw in the fridge overnight and reheat as you wish.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 pound spiral ham
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 can spiral ham
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  • To begin, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Unwrap the pre-cooked spiral ham and place it in a large, oven-safe casserole dish.
  • Open the can of pineapple slices and generously arrange them between the slices of ham.
  • Pour the juice from the can of pineapple slices over the ham and pineapple.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the pineapple slices and ham. Rub the ham with Dijon mustard. You can adjust the amount of brown sugar to suit your sweetness preference. The sugar will caramelize during cooking, creating a delectable crust.
  • Cover the ham with aluminum foil, ensuring that it’s tightly sealed. This will help trap the moisture and flavors as the ham slow-cooks.
  • Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and let it cook for approximately 1.5 hours.
  • The exact cooking time may vary depending on the size of your ham, so keep an eye on it. The goal is to heat the ham through and allow the flavors to meld.
  • Periodically check the ham and baste it with the delicious juices that collect in the dish. This step ensures that your ham stays moist, flavorful, and beautifully glazed.
  • If your ham came with a glaze package, you can elevate the flavors even further. Mix the glaze with a few tablespoons of the pineapple juice, creating a luscious glaze. Brush this glaze over the ham for an extra layer of sweetness and shine.
  • Once your ham is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Then, slice it into generous portions, making sure to include the pineapple slices. Enjoy!

collage on how to make white chocolate bombs

Step 1: Begin by heating the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Between each heat cycle, stir well. You want all the candy melts to melt completely.

Step 2: Now, add approximately 1 1/2 tablespoons of chocolate to each silicone sphere mold. Use a spoon or brush to create an even layer all over the sphere and the sides of the mold. The chocolate will pool at the bottom of the mold. So make sure to spread it out, pushing the chocolate to the open side of the spheres.

Step 3: Allow the chocolate to set up. You can carefully begin removing from the molds. Be careful as the chocolate can break. If you wear gloves, it will protect against getting fingerprint smudges on the chocolate. You will find that your fingertips will melt the chocolate quickly.

Step 4: In half of each sphere you will add in your pumpkin spice hot chocolate mix, and some mini marshmallows. Feel free to add in some pumpkin spice sprinkles to add a festive look. Or even candy corn for a great addition.

Step 5: Heat up a plate in microwave as directed. Then place the empty sphere on the plate to warm it up and gently melt the chocolate.

Step 6: Place the ball on top of filled ball and press lightly together. The wet chocolate will act as glue. If there is excess chocolate around the ball, just wipe it away. Use a toothpick to remove the small amount of chocolate around the edges.

Step 7: Heat up candy melts and then drizzle on top of each completed ball. Place the pumpkin on top before chocolate hardens. This is the perfect way to decorate your candy pumpkin hot chocolate bombs.

Pro Tips & Variations

This is an easy recipe with numerous ways to customize it. This is a twist to a classic hot cocoa bomb. The perfect fall treat to sip on.

  • To reduce fingerprint smudges, wear food-safe gloves.
  • Want a twist? Try dark chocolate shells and swap in candy-corn for a whimsical autumn garnish.
  • Stir the chocolate every 20-30 seconds to prevent it from burning during the melting process.
  • Feel free to customize the decoration of your hot chocolate bombs. You could use dark chocolate instead of white chocolate, a drizzle of vanilla candy melts, and sprinkles.
  • If you have excess chocolate around the edges, you can wipe it off with a lint-free towel.
  • Instead of hot chocolate, do a pumpkin spice latte flavor.
